Heraldry and its research have deep traditions in Europe, making it a certain focus of attention among researchers. The interest in this field in Lithuania is a more recent phenomenon. The late beginning of heraldry research was partly influenced by Lithuania's loss of independence. At present, researchers' attention is focused mainly on the periods of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, also looking at Lithuanian heraldry from the 20th–21stcenturies, and conducting thorough research of the coats of arms of the state, cities, and towns. Research of the heraldry of the nobility is also being conducted, such as the heraldry of the political elite in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania – the Goštautas, Pacas, Radvila, Sapiega families, etc. The heraldry of representatives of the lower gentry, especially among the Samogitian families, has received less attention. Many unanswered questions and undeveloped themes remain in the field of the Samogitian nobility's heraldry, overlooked in research for a long time. This article analyzes how genealogical links were reflected in Samogitian nobility heraldry sources in the second half of the 16th–18thcenturies. Having analyzed the heraldic sources of the Samogitian nobility, it was found that these reflected not only information about a specific individual, but also their broader origins, family and marital lines. The coats of arms of the Samogitian nobility in time became a unique means of representation. The coats of arms of the Samogitian nobility were depicted in seals, literature, portraits, architecture, and elsewhere. ; Straipsnyje pasirinkta atkreipti dėmesį į vieną iš svarbiausių Žemaitijos bajorų kultūros ir tapatybės ženklų– jų heraldiką. Ilgą laiką tyrėjų akiračio užribyje buvusi Žemaitijos bajorų heraldikos tema slepia daug neatsakytų klausimų. Šioje publikacijoje Žemaitijos bajorų heraldikos šaltiniai nagrinėjami kaip reprezentuojantys bajorų giminystės ir santuokos ryšius. Darbe nagrinėjamas gana platus heraldikos šaltinių spektras, apimantis ne tik herbinius antspaudus, bet ir literatūroje, portretuose, architektūroje vaizduotus herbus. Straipsnyje analizuojami Bilevičių, Nagurskių, Gorskių, Chodkevičių, Tiškevičių ir kitų Žemaitijoje gyvenusių bajorų giminių atstovų herbai.

The article is devoted to the subjects and symbolism in thehuntingheraldry oftheVolyn and Kyiv regionsinthe16th–early17thcenturies. Among the innovations of this timeperiodis the appearanceof atypical imageryin Ukrainian heraldry, namelythat ofwild animals and hunting horns. The author analyzes the well-known coats of armsassociated with hunting, theirprevalenceand probable reasons for their obscurity in these areas compared to the Kingdom of Poland. In the early modern period, nobility usedheraldic signs and legends to emphasize their ancient origins, land tenureshipand political influence. The appearance of wild animals on Ruthenian coats of arms was symptomatic of the spread of Western heraldic tradition and hunting culture as such. There were multiple instances of symbiosisbetweenthe Ruthenian heraldic tradition and Western templates, the most striking of which is the"Korczak"coat of arms. It is believed that the mantling in the form of a dog of the Hungarian Vizsla breed, depicted sitting in a bowlis of Hungarian origin, but the image of the shield (an"escutcheon") of this coat of arms is actually Ruthenian, interpreted as three belts, logs or rivers. Less prolific than the"Korczak"coat of arms and its variations were the addendum of Western heraldic attributes to the old coats of arms, such asthat ofhunting horns. Most of the Western-stylecoats of arms known or relatively known in these areas belonged to those granted to the Grand Duchy of Lithuanianobilityin 1413. Many of them were distributed mainly among the small gentry of Polish origin orGalicianimmigrants. Instead, intheVolyn and Kyiv regions,thegentry preferred their own historical coats of arms, created on the basis of ancient territorial symbolism.Conceivably, theircommitment to ancient heraldic tradition was intended to accentuate their Ruthenian identity. ; Стаття присвячена мисливським сюжетам і символіці в геральдиці Волині та Київщини ХVІ – першої половини ХVІІ ст. До новацій цього часу належить поява в українській геральдиці нетипових для неї зображень, а саме диких тварин та мисливських ріжків. Авторкою проаналізовано відомі «мисливські» герби, їх поширення та ймовірні причини малої популярності на зазначених теренах порівняно з Польським королівством. В ранньомодерний період шляхтичі намагались за допомогою геральдичних знаків та легенд підкреслити своє давнє походження, права на володіння землею та політичний вплив. Поява диких тварин на руських гербах була частиною поширення на ці терени західної геральдичної моди та мисливської культури як такої. Непоодинокими були випадки поєднання руської геральдичної традиції та цілком західних зразків, найяскравішим прикладом чого є герб «Корчак». Вважається, що клейнод у вигляді песика породи угорська вижла має угорське походження, проте зображення щита («вруби») цього герба власне руське, трактоване як три пояси, колоди або ріки. Менш відомими, ніж герб «Корчак» та його варіації були випадки додавання до старих гербів елементів західної геральдики, наприклад, мисливських ріжків. Більшість гербів західного зразка, відомих або відносно відомих на цих теренах належали до списку тих, що були надані нобілітету ВКЛ у 1413 р. Чимало з них були поширені переважно в середовищі дрібної шляхти польського походження або ж переселенців з Галичини. Натомість на Волині та Київщині шляхта надавала перевагу власним старовинним гербам, створеним на основі давніх межових (територіальних, родових) знаків. Імовірно, прихильність до давніх геральдичних традицій мала на меті підкреслити свою руську ідентичність.

Blandiendo la espada por uno de los flancos y la pluma por el otro, los Fernández de Córdoba se granjearon un lugar estamental privilegiado en el régimen señorial. La Reconquista fue el escenario en el que probaron la suerte combinatoria de las campañas m ilitares y el desempeño de funciones administrativas públicas para el municipio cordobés, siendo superlativos los resultados para esta solariega familia, cuya posición se parangonaba con la de otros linajes castellanos. Será a lo largo del siglo XIV cuand o del tronco principal de la familia proliferen otras ramas, que iniciarían su propio bagaje. La primera de éstas, fue aquélla que toma su nombre de la población cuyo señorío fue otorgado a los, en adelante, propietarios: la Casa de Montemayor ; Fernández de Córdoba, a known family, won a priviledge place inside the stately regime thanks to their fight along the trenches and on the other hand, having a charge inside the administrative hierarchy. This ancestral family combined their public administrative functions for the Cordovan town with the military campaigns, both set in the Reconquest, ending with exceptional results. Their class position was compared to other Castilian lineages. Along the XIV century, some descendants continued on their own. The first of these took his name from the town, which state was awarded to the owners of Casa de Montemayor.

The New Settlements of Sierra Morena and Andalusia constituted one of the state initiatives of greater relevance in the agrarian sector during the reign of Carlos III. However, the way in which the propaganda of Bourbon politics was embodied in them has received little attention among researchers. This research aims to analyze the way in which real power was visualized in these new colonies, using two elements of significant importance: toponymy and heraldry. ; Las Nuevas Poblaciones de Sierra Morena y Andalucía constituyeron una de las iniciativas estatales de mayor relevancia en el sector agrario durante el reinado de Carlos III. Sin embargo, la forma en la que la propaganda de la política borbónica se plasmó en ellas no ha recibido apenas atención entre los investigadores. Esta investigación pretende analizar el modo en el que se visualizó el poder real en esas nuevas colonias, empleando para ello dos elementos de significativa importancia: la toponimia y la heráldica.
