Cette thèse est une analyse épistémologique et généalogique de la pensée de Jean-Pierre Vernant. Son objet est constitué des enquêtes effectuées par l'helléniste entre sonentrée au CNRS en 1948 et son élection au Collège de France en 1974. Elle tented'objectiver la normativité épistémologique à l'oeuvre dans l'élaboration progressive d'une nouvelle discipline : l'anthropologie historique. Par normativité épistémologique, il faut entendre l'activité de production de normes par les enquêtes elles-mêmes, dontl'objectif est de résoudre un problème. L'anthropologie historique de Jean-Pierre Vernant se construit par une succession de rencontres entre des précurseurs hétérogènes : Louis Gernet, Ignace Meyerson, Georges Dumézil, Claude Lévi-Strauss (chapitres 1 à 3). En parallèle, l'analyse montre que cette nouvelle discipline est irréductible à ces rencontres. Elle définit un style propre de problèmes et de résolutions, par l'articulation entre ladimension diachronique de la pensée historique et la dimension synchronique de la pensée structurale. Un schème explicatif intégrant ces dimensions est implicitement élaboré sur le modèle du bricolage chapitre 4). Il permet de concevoir le devenir historique et l'invention humaine par-delà l'aporie binaire entre stabilité et instabilité.Il est alors possible de comprendre l'insertion originale de la pensée de Jean-Pierre Vernant dans les enjeux philosophiques et politiques de l'après-guerre. L'histoire de la raison est un de ces enjeux (chapitre 5). Se rencontrent alors deux perspectivesradicalement différentes : celle d'une pluralisation des types de rationalités et celle d'un sauvetage de la raison contre le dogmatisme et le totalitarisme (chapitre 6). The Crimean campaign was the main theatre of operations in what used to be called the Eastern War. First major European conflict since the end of the Napoleonic Wars and the last military confrontation between France and Russia, the Crimean War has been studied and appreciated in very different ways by historians of the different nations that took part in it: the Russian historiography of this conflict is thus highly developed, whereas in France, academics and amateur historians have barely studied this first victory of the Second Empire. Testimonies from French and Russian combatants are the common denominator of those studies, therefore, they will be at the heart of our study. Heirs of veterans of the Napoleonic Wars and steeped in romantic culture, these men also experienced the beginnings of a military revolution that lastingly transformed the art of war in Europe. On both sides of Sevastopol walls No Man's land, these men told the story of their campaign in Crimea, a campaign of fighting, glory, comradeship and exchanges between enemies, but also of disease, suffering and death. It is also the very representation of this war that could sometimes be questioned, between the quest for adventure, patriotic or religious duty and disillusionment in the face of an unforeseen siege war. ; La campagne de Crimée fut le principal théâtre d'opération de ce qui fut appelée par ses contemporains la Guerre d'Orient. Premier grand conflit européen depuis la fin des guerres napoléoniennes et dernier affrontement militaire entre la France et la Russie, la guerre de Crimée a été étudiée et appréciée de manière très différente par les historiens des différentes nations qui y participèrent : l'historiographie russe de ce conflit est ainsi très développée tandis qu'en France les universitaires et historiens amateurs ne s'intéressèrent guère à cette première victoire du Second Empire. Dénominateur commun de toutes ces études sur la guerre de Crimée, les témoignages des combattants français et russes seront au cœur de notre démarche. Héritiers des vétérans des guerres napoléoniennes, pétris de culture romantique, ces hommes vécurent aussi les débuts d'une révolution militaire qui transforma durablement l'art de la guerre en Europe. De part et d'autre du No Man's Land au pied des murs de Sébastopol, ces hommes racontèrent leur campagne de Crimée faite de combats, de gloire, de camaraderie et d'échanges entre ennemis, mais aussi de maladie, de souffrance et de mort. C'est aussi la question même de la représentation de cette guerre qui put alors être parfois questionnée, entre quête d'aventure, devoir patriotique ou religieux et désillusions face à une guerre de siège imprévue.

Initiated in 1997 by young financial economists at the start of the experience of consensual alternance government in Morocco and at the end of the reign of Hassan II (1961-1999), Le Journal (LJ) is considered the symbol of the so-called independent press of that time. By finding an influential voice abroad, its weight and visibility goes beyond Morocco's elites. The transformations that still occurred on the editorial line of the weekly French newspaper were considered critical vis-à-vis the ruling power by the audaciousness of its topics and a la-Une coverage (monarchy, governance, human rights), gave rise to different crises in nature (trials, advertising boycott, internal management, etc.) that led to its closure by the authorities in January 2010, under the reign of Mohammed VI after a dense "life" impregnated with positive and negative relations with regime. Instead of proposing only one perspective in the study of LJ, this research hopes to meet the challenge of offering three outlooks that complement each other: by analyzing the external environment of LJ (Part I) by studying its influence (Part II), and finally by investigating its internal environment (Part III). The first part starts with a simple puzzle: how one can we move in social relations from (here between journalists and political) a situation of understanding to a situation of misunderstanding. Based on the concept of misunderstanding (V. Jankélévitch), we will see how well the Journal, first "well-understood," becomes, over time, a "misunderstood" newspaper, by both its supporters as well as its opponents. If the concept of 'understanding' reflects what made the originality and success of LJ as an innovative project, in a historical context marked by political liberalization on the one hand; on the other hand, the misunderstanding was a political misunderstanding which focuses on the different representations journalists and politicians made of "the democratic transition", their divergent assessments of the political situation in Morocco and ...

International audience ; In the anonymous work Atahualpa's Death, created during the 16th century, an implicit reference is made to the shamanic observances that were in use at that time. Nowadays, an extract of this text can be seen to have therapeutic, symbolic and politic functions for shamans, who have contributed to spreading it all over the Andes. It justifies the mesa ritual during which the practitioner convokes and incorporates the spirits of the mountains and the earth : he gives them leave to speak as they did in the past. ; Dans La mort d'Atahualpa, œuvre anonyme du XVIe siècle, il est implicitement fait référence aux pratiques chamaniques de l'époque. International audience ; Râto Matsyendranâth is one of the more complex figure of the pantheon of the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal. This many-faceted god illustrates the interaction beetwen Tantric and Vajrayana Buddhism and Hinduism (again, mainly Tantric Hinduism) within the very limited confine of an autochtonous society, the Newars. From the earliest references, he is linked with the highest values of religion, as well as with the former Malla kings and the agricultural prosperity of the kingdom. It is the purpose of this article to show that a particularly clear instance of the so-called Dumezilian trifunctional ideology can be founded in the legendary account of the coming of Matsyendranâth to Nepal. However the synthesis of the three functions within a single trivalent deity must be understood in the local context. In this paper, we analyze the relation between the museum and the notion of identity through a study of patrimonial logics which aim at forging an official collective memory. We rely on a study of the mediation function of central museums in building a national identity through an endeavor to shape a "nation-memory" ("mémoire-nation", Pierre Nora) which draws on peasant sources. The stake of this study lies in its ability to bring to light institutional forms of patrimony in the era of nationalist ideologies, of the formation and consolidation of the nation state. In which ways is the relationship between patrimony and national identity embodied in the scientific patrimonial projects of the museums? In trying to answer this question, we set out to explore how the patrimony is exploited in order to foster political projects. Addressing the issue of central museums as a kind of "surface" where the collective identity is "scratched" will help us shed lights on the metamorphoses of a "localizing memory" ("mémoire localisante", M.M. Carruthers) mobilized to build a shared identity.
