Pasadas de moda las especulaciones sobre «el fin del arte» y «el fin de la historia», el entramado discursivo y conceptual que les dio forma en el debate norteamericano se vuelve evidente como parte estructural de su objeto. Su pregunta fundamental es aquella por la relación del presente con el pasado histórico y por la historicidad de esa relación. La trilogía novelística The Dancers at the End of Time (1972–1974–1976), de Michael Moorcock, simultáneamente enuncia, dramatiza y encarna esta preocupación. El autor —emblemática figura del fantasy y la ciencia ficción de la segunda mitad del siglo XX— proyecta hiperbólicamente sobre un futuro remotísimo una constelación de referencias culturales que evocan a la vez el fin de siècle decimonónico y «la posmodernidad». El conflicto se cataliza al irrumpir una mujer procedente de 1896 en la neoesteticista sociedad del Fin del Tiempo. Para comprender la propuesta y la importancia histórica de la serie, este artículo reúne en un mismo plano comparatístico la teorización implícita en este producto de genre fiction y las «ficciones teóricas» de autores como Jameson, Danto, Huyssen, Fukuyama, Sontag y Baudrillard. Particularmente se interroga sobre el impacto político–ideológico del reconocimiento de la constructibilidad de las «épocas» (pasadas y presentes) y sobre la posibilidad de una redención de la historia, entre los mitos del progreso y la decadencia. ; Long after the speculations regarding «the end of art» and «the end of history» reached their peak, the discursive and conceptual framework that shaped them in the American debate has become evident as a structural part of its own object. Its main concern is the relation between the present and the historical past and the historicity of such a relation. Michael Moorcock's novelistic trilogy The Dancers at the End of Time (1972–1974–1976) simultaneously states, dramatizes and embodies this concern. The author —one of the leading figures of fantasy and science fiction in the second half of the twentieth century— imagines a far-future scenario that hyperbolically feeds off both fin-de-siècle and «postmodern» cultural references. The sudden appearance of a woman coming from 1896 in the neo-aestheticist society of the End of Time acts as a catalyst for the dramatic conflict. In order to understand the series' qualities and its historical relevance, this papers builds a comparative framework joining the implicit theorizing in this product of genre fiction and the «theoretical fictions» of authors such as Jameson, Danto, Huyssen, Fukuyama, Sontag and Baudrillard. Above all, it examines the political and ideological impact of acknowledging the fabricated nature of «epochs» (past and present) as well as the possibility of redeeming history, between the myths of progress and decadence.

Este artículo es el resumen de la tesis doctoral "Análisis histórico del Mail Art en América Latina", presentada en la Universidad de Barcelona en 2014. En la investigación se estudia la red de mail art a partir de tres ejes principales: el análisis histórico del mail art en América Latina, el establecimiento del perfil del artista y la creación de parámetros para la sistematización de la información, con el objetivo de entender cómo la repercusión del sistema político dictatorial ha influido en esta práctica artística. Por necesidad, muchos asuntos relacionados al arte correo discutidos en detalle en la tesis solo se mencionan brevemente o se descuidan por completo en esta versión reducida. ; This article is a summary of the doctoral thesis "Historical Analysis of Mail Art in Latin America", submitted to the University of Barcelona in 2014. The research studies the Mail Art network from three main axes: the historical analysis of Mail Art in Latin America, the establishment of the profile of the artist and the creation of parameters for the systematization of information, with the aim of understanding how the repercussion of the dictatorial political system has influenced this artistic practice. During the Spanish Civil War, the government of the Second Republic created the Central Council for Fine Arts in order to reorganize teaching at schools of Fine Arts and Architecture. The sculptor Ángel Ferrant was an active member of this Commission of experts. This article examines Ferrant's project for the reorganization of Fine Arts schools. ; En plena Guerra Civil, el gobierno de la Segunda República española creó un Consejo Central de Artes Plásticas para reorganizar las enseñanzas artísticas y la Escuela de Arquitectura. El presente texto describe el origen y la utilización de la porción gráfica de la colección más antigua que posee la Universidad de Costa Rica: la Colección de Modelos de Dibujo. La cual fue traída al país como parte del material didáctico que adquirió el Gobierno de Costa Rica para la fundación en 1897 de la Academia Nacional de Bellas Artes. Esta colección de origen francés y diseñada por el Maestro dibujante y pintor Bernard Romain Julien (1802-1871) fue un medio para la enseñanza del Dibujo de la que se alimentaron los profesores y estudiantes de la primera Academia de arte del país. ; This paper describes the origin and usage of the graphic portion of the oldest collection that the University of Costa Rica owns: the Drawing Model Collection. Which was brought to the country as part of the teaching materials acquired by the Government of Costa Rica for the foundation in 1897 of the National Academy of Fine Arts. This collection of French origin and designed by the master draftsman and painter Bernard Romain Julien (1802- 1871) was a mean used for teaching drawing from which the teachers and students of the first Art Academy in the country fed.

ResumenEste artículo ofrece un acercamiento al problema de la división racial del trabajo entre las mujeres, partiendo de un análisis en torno a la estratificación social, de género y racial presente en la dicotomía arte culto/arte popular. Se trata de una reflexión feminista acerca del valor que se concede a la producción cultural de las mujeres con base en la racialización.Se aborda la cuestión desde el ámbito de la producción textil: el arte, el diseño y la práctica textil artesanal, tomando como eje de estudio el trabajo teórico y político del Movimiento Nacional de Tejedoras Mayas de Guatemala para examinar la relación entre racismo y colonialidad, así como para exponer el tema de la apropiación cultural.Abstract This article offers an approach to the problem of the racial division of labor among women, based on an analysis of the social, gender and racial stratification present in the Fine Arts/Traditional Arts dichotomy. It is a feminist reflection on the value given to women's cultural production based on racialization.The issue is approached from the field of textile production: art, design and handcrafted textile practice, taking as an axis of study the theoretical and political work of the National Movement of Mayan Weavers of Guatemala to examine the relationship between racism and coloniality, as well as to expose the issue of cultural appropriation.

Since 2016 and with the support of the Provincial Museum of Fine Arts and the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences (UADER) we have been studying the foundational years of this Museum, the decisive role of Pedro Ernesto Martínez in its organization and the institutionalization of his first artistic collection between 1925 and 1936. With this presentation we offer a new advance in the investigation, trying to contribute knowledge and readings on the 1st Annual Exhibition of Fine Arts of Paraná, held in 1930 in the provisional facilities that the Museum had in the Centennial School; event that summoned in the city to the wide and diverse scene of the plastic arts of the country, in a particularly significant year. In the first part, we recover some issues already analyzed previously about the foundation of the Museum, the prominence of certain actors in its realization and the first steps related to its artistic heritage; then, we analyze the journalistic coverage of the event and, finally, we make a brief analysis of the works acquired in the Exhibition by the Government of the Province of Entre Ríos through the Museum, thus constituting one of the modalities of entry to the founding collection. El artículo otorga un lugar preeminente a las citas documentales a los fines de socializar y poner en consideración, de forma sistemática y explicativa, testimonios –inéditos o escasamente conocidos– relacionados con el patrimonio artístico de Entre Ríos.

Se analiza la interpretación que hace el semanario satírico Gedeón (1897-1912) de un pilar fundamental de la cultura artística española contemporánea: las Exposiciones Nacionales de Bellas Artes. Textos o viñetas de caricaturistas como Sileno, Sancha o Xaudaró, frivolizan o ironizan sobre obras, artistas, jurados o premios; caracterizando primordialmente su enfoque la utilización paródica de los cuadros más notables como marcos iconográficos de la sátira política. Como fuente crítica resulta limitada y ocasional, pero no deja de ser un complemento sugerente y efectivo para el estudio del arte y la historia española contemporáneos. ; This paper discusses the criticisms of one of the most important elements of contemporary Spanish artistic culture — the National Fine Arts Exhibitions — to be found in the satirical weekly Gedéon (1897-1912). Texts, drawings and cartoons by such caricature artists as Sileno, Sancha or Xaudaró comment frivolously or ironically on art works, artists, prizes and their panels of judges, and to this end they parodied the most notable paintings, using them for the purpose of political satire. This is naturally limited and period-specific as a means of criticism, but it is nevertheless interesting to observe and forms a useful aspect of the study of Spanish contemporary art and history.

The article asks questions around the art in the street cycle, developed by the Harrods commercial house of Buenos Aires between the 1940s and 1970s. Questions are raised about the politico-aesthetic and epistemic potential mobilised by artists' glassware produced in the framework of this programme, based on an approach to the experience of images such as condensation of wishes and soundness involved in a cultural plot of time. It reflects on the illustrative practices at stake in the glazing device, making references to other epocal ways of watching. It concluded with a reflection on the methodological perspective worked. Se interroga el potencial político-estético y epistémico movilizado por las vidrieras de artistas realizadas en el marco de este programa, a partir de un acercamiento a la experiencia de las imágenes como condensaciones de deseos y de ensoñaciones que participan en una trama cultural de época. Se reflexiona sobre las prácticas mostrativas puestas en juego en el dispositivo vidriera, trazando remisiones a otros modos epocales de dar a ver. The lecture is about movement in contemporary art as well as the political effects and senses of art of action and performance. The text develops from the analysis of different cases, and mainly from two posters made by the Stenberg brothers for the film The Man with the Movie Camera and from a sequence from this film by Dziga Vertov. It is concluded that these works propose equivalence between the functional movement of machines and the automatism of acrobats or comedians. This equivalence is linked to Schiller's game theory. Finally the author will establish the differences between the critical and active treatment of movement in arts and the way the European dictatorships from the twentieth century proposed the passive contemplation of a show in which the mass movement is presented as live performance of a becoming community. ; La conferencia trata del movimiento en el arte contemporáneo y de los sentidos y efectos políticos del arte de la acción y la actuación. El texto se desarrolla a partir del análisis de diversos casos y fundamentalmente de dos carteles de los hermanos Stenberg para El hombre de la cámara y de una secuencia de esta película de Dziga Vertov. Se concluye que estas obras proponen una equivalencia entre el movimiento funcional de las máquinas y el automatismo de los acróbatas o de los cómicos, equivalencia que se vincula con la teoría del juego de Schiller. Finalmente se establecen las diferencias entre el tratamiento activo y crítico del movimiento en las artes y el modo en que las dictaduras europeas del s. XX propusieron la contemplación pasiva de un espectáculo en que el movimiento de la masa se presenta como actuación viva de una comunidad por venir.

Este artículo analiza la situación de una de las colecciones más antiguas de la Institución. La colección de yesos data del año 1897 y fue adquirida por el estado costarricense como un instrumento didáctico para el desarrollo académico. Las esculturas y relieves presentan una serie de problemas estructurales, de suciedad superficial, grietas, fracturas con faltantes en la volumetría, así como manchas superficiales. Como aporte principal de este artículo se ofrecen las soluciones técnicas más importantes utilizadas para resolver la problemática de la restauración de este valioso patrimonio. ; This article examines the status of one of the oldest plaster cast collections at the Escuela de Artes Plásticas (School of Fine Arts) at the University of Costa Rica. This plaster cast gallery dates from 1897 and the Costa Rican government acquired it as a teaching tool for academic development. The sculptures and reliefs present a series of structural damages: cracks, fractures with missing parts, and surface stains and dirt. Technical solutions for the restoration of this valuable heritage are suggested.

Saber quiénes son sus visitantes es una de las principales tareas de los museos en la actualidad, en la medida en que fluctúan entre ajustarse a las imposiciones del sistema capitalista y convertirse en instituciones democráticas y participativas. No obstante, este aspecto resulta aun más dificultoso en los museos de arte, en virtud de los atributos particulares de su estructura y actores. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo aproximar algunos criterios que permitan conocer quiénes son los visitantes de los museos de arte creados en Argentina desde el inicio del nuevo milenio. Dada la magnitud del desafío, se procura, con el foco puesto en un caso particular, trazar algunos lineamientos sostenidos en los enfoques teórico-críticos aplicados a la museología y en los estudios de públicos. En cuanto a lo metodológico, se recurrió a un estudio de visitantes que apeló a orientaciones cuantitativas y cualitativas, realizado en el Museo de Arte de Tigre durante 2017, centrado en los públicos del fin de semana. Se considera que, al indagar los rasgos singulares de esta entidad patrimonial, pueden identificarse algunos indicios que permitan comenzar a trazar un perfil, tanto general como específico, de los visitantes de los museos de arte. ; Knowing who its visitors are is one of the main tasks of museums today, as they fluctuate between conforming to the impositions of the capitalist system and becoming democratic and participatory institutions. El propósito de este artículo es poner sobre la mesa los problemas éticos y políticos a los que nos enfrentamos en el momento de pensar el arte transgénico. El texto consta de tres partes que buscan dar al lector, en primer lugar, las herramientas conceptuales necesarias para pensar el arte transgénico inserto dentro del panorama de la estética contemporánea; con este fin se presentan dos obras de Eduardo Kac, principal exponente del movimiento: Génesis y GFP Bunny. Posteriormente, acudiendo a algunas ideas de Jacques Ranciére, se propone una lectura ético-política del arte transgénico y se abre un camino de discusión para pensar el rol de la bioética en un mundo en el que la manipulación genética y el upgrade de los cuerpos es una realidad. ; The purpose of this article is to discuss the ethical and political problems that we face when we think of transgenic art. The paper is articulated in three parts that seek, in the first place, to give readers the conceptual tools necessary to think of the transgenic art inserted within the panorama of contemporary aesthetics. In order to fulfill this purpose the paper presents two Works by Eduardo Kac, leading exponent of the movement: Genesis and GFP Bunny. Later, visiting some ideas of Jacques Ranciére, an ethicalpolitical reading of transgenic art is proposed and a path of discussion is opened to think the role of bioethics in a world where genetic manipulation and the upgrade of bodies is a reality.
