To validate and test a German version of the revised Parent Report of Children's Abilities questionnaire (PARCA-R). Multicentre cross-sectional study. Parents of infants born <32 gestational weeks, completed the PARCA-R within three weeks before the follow-up assessment of their child at age two years. Infants were assessed using the Mental Development Index (MDI) of the Bayley Scales of Infant Development 2nd edition (BSID-II). Pearson correlation between the Parent Report Composite (PRC) of the PARCA-R and MDI was tested. The optimal PRC cut-off for predicting moderate-to-severe mental delay, defined as MDI<70, was identified through the receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve. PARCA-R and BSID-II data were collected from 154 consecutive infants [51% girls, mean (SD) gestational age 29.0 (2.0) weeks, birth weight 1174 (345) grams] at 23.2 (1.6) months of corrected age. The PRC score [70.5 (31.1)] correlated with the MDI [92.2 (17.3); R = 0.54; p < 0.0001]. The optimal PRC cut-off for identifying mental delay was 44 with 0.81 (0.54-0.96) sensitivity (95%-CI), 0.81 (0.74-0.87) specificity, area under the ROC curve of 0.840 (0.729-0.952). The German version of the PARCA-R had good validity with the BSID-II and PCR scores < 44 proved optimal discriminatory power for the identification of mental delay at two years of corrected age.

The article demonstrates how Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) geographic headings for the Southern Levant mirror the political investment of Congress and the American public in Middle East politics over the last thirty years. The headings' evolution as well as Library of Congress rules governing their creation is charted in detail. These LCSH headings contrast markedly with those established in other national libraries (BnF, DNB) and independent value vocabularies (TGN, GeoNames), and global opinion regarding the legal status of the occupied territories. I sketch the historical context of their formation and offer suggestions as to how libraries can "decolonize" their metadata in service of Sanford Berman's "access and equity."

It is well known that most of the standard specification tests are not valid when the alternative hypothesis is misspecified. This is particularly true in the error component model, when one tests for either random effects or serial correlation without taking account of the presence of the other effect. In this paper we study the size and power of the standard Rao´s score tests analytically and by simulation when the data is contaminated by local misspecification. These tests are adversely affected under misspecification. We suggest simple procedures to test for random effects (or serial correlation) in the presence of local serial correlation (or random effects), and these tests require ordinary least squares residuals only. Our Monte Carlo results demonstrate that the suggested tests have good finite sample properties for local misspecification, and in some cases even for far distant misspecification. Our tests are also capable of detecting the right direction of the departure from the null hypothesis. Increasing sample size is not the only strategy to improve discovery in Genome Wide Association Studies (GWASs) and we propose here an approach that leverages published studies of related traits to improve inference. Our Bayesian GWAS method derives informative prior effects by leveraging GWASs of related risk factors and their causal effect estimates on the focal trait using multivariable Mendelian randomization. These prior effects are combined with the observed effects to yield Bayes Factors, posterior and direct effects. The approach not only increases power, but also has the potential to dissect direct and indirect biological mechanisms. bGWAS package is freely available under a GPL-2 License, and can be accessed, alongside with user guides and tutorials, from https://github.com/n-mounier/bGWAS. Despite its limited power in foreign policy, the European Parliament tries to present itself as a fully-fledged player in the European Union's external relations, particularly vis-à-vis international partners. For example, Russia is an important but potentially divisive issue for the EU and for the Parliament, where many debates are organised to assess EU-Russian relations. To understand the content of the deliberations, this paper analyses 11 significant debates on EU-Russian relations during the 6th parliamentary term (2004-2009). Through a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the type of speakers and the content of the discussions, this paper tries to reveal who takes the floor, how and, above all, why: are MEPs driven by their national or partisan affiliation? What issues are being addressed in the hemicycle? Is the European Parliament homogenous vis-à-vis Russia or do MEPs take differentiated positions based on pre-existing divisions? The answers given to these questions, with the Russian-Georgian war of 2008 as the focal point, make it possible to nuance the diplomatic consequences of the Georgian crisis at European level and highlight the role of the European Parliament, too often neglected, as an actor in EU-Russian relations. ; Malgré le peu de pouvoir dont il dispose en politique étrangère, le Parlement européen tente de se présenter comme un acteur à part entière dans les relations extérieures de l'Union européenne, notamment vis-à-vis des partenaires internationaux. AFD allows continuous drying reducing fix and operating costs, but presents, as main disadvantage, a long drying time required. The application of power ultrasound (US) can accelerate AFD process. The main objective of the present study was to evaluate the application of power ultrasound to improve atmospheric freeze drying of carrot. For that purpose, AFD experiments were carried out with carrot cubes (10 mm side) at constant air velocity (2 ms-1), temperature (-10ºC) and relative humidity (10%) with (20.5 kWm-3, USAFD) and without (AFD) ultrasonic application. A diffusion model was used in order to quantify the influence of US in drying kinetics. To evaluate the quality of dry products, rehydration capacity and textural properties were determined. The US application during AFD of carrot involved the increase of drying rate. The effective moisture diffusivity identified in USAFD was 73% higher than in AFD experiments. On the other hand, the rehydration capacity was higher in USAFD than in AFD and the hardness of dried samples did not show significant (p<0.05) differences. Therefore, US application during AFD significantly (p<0.05) sped-up the drying process preserving the quality properties of the dry product. Latin American vision is deeply rooted in Argentine foreign policy. From 2002 to 2009, that vision was held in the different affairs Argentina was involved in while attempting to overcome its international vulnerability. However, such participation was focused on efforts limited to South America mainly because Brazil had become a strong conditioning factor on Argentina's regional policy. Not only does Argentina's economy rely on the Brazilian market but also Argentine policy depends on the regionalization process Brazil carried out in consolidating its leadership of Latin America. This paper aims at analyzing the co-optation features this power relationship had. ; La visión latinoamericana ha tenido su tradición en la política exterior argentina. In societies living at the margins of the State, interpersonal relationships and the use of power, as well as competition dynamics, are often similar among different groups in spite of preexisting differences in access to economic resources, moral authority and personal prestige. From this point of departure the present article undertakes an ethno historic analysis which attempts to illuminate changes affecting the Alto Marañon (Peru) Awajun people, between the years 1950 and 1970. The socio-cultural transformation this indigenous group was forced to undergo in order to attain membership in the wider national society, is described. ; En las sociedades que viven en los márgenes del Estado, las relaciones y el uso del poder, así como las dinámicas de competencia, suelen ser elementos afines entre los grupos desiguales por el poder económico, la autoridad moral y el prestigio personal. A partir de este presupuesto, en este artículo se desarrolla un análisis etnohistórico que arroja luces sobre los procesos de cambio de los awajún del Alto Marañón (Perú), entre los años 1950 y 1970. Se describe la transformación sociocultural que tuvo que experimentar este grupo indígena para devenir en miembro de la sociedad nacional.

Por un intento de comprensión del horror que no descansa y en ese marco destacamos los aportes de Emmanuel Levinas y de Primo Levi. El primero en Algunas reflexiones sobre la filosofía del hitlerismo (1934) anuncia y denuncia la estructura de exterminio que esta implicaba. El segundo en Si esto es un hombre escrito en 1946 y publicado en 1947, bajo el imperativo del testimonio, sostiene que sobrevivir tuvo sentido para poder contar lo sucedido. Ambos textos tuvieron dificultades para ser oídos y consideramos que esto se debe a la premura de sus denuncias. Esas experiencias inaudibles lo fueron tanto por el objeto del relato -un horror desconocido hasta entonces- como por un régimen de sensibilidad que aún no podía abrirse a semejante escucha.
