In the fifteenth century, cities and towns in Castile were subjected to a strenuous pressure exerted (not only over their municipal jurisdictions) by the nobility, the urban elites and a weak monarchy (John II and Henry IV) anxious of buying loyalties with the product of the dismembering of the royal domain. In this context, one of the mechanisms of defence enforced by towns derived from the identity categories that, in this political-constitutional field, each urban entity was able to impose on its area of influence. In this study I will examine the case of the city of Cuenca, its ability to produce certain specific identity clauses, and its capacity to impose them to a relatively large number of members of the regional nobility, thus incorporating the later to the defence of the royal domain (and, consequently, to the defence of the city and its jurisdiction).

ENGLISH: The aim of this paper is to show how political identity (in this case the city of Cuenca in the fifteenth century) is built on the basis of shared systems of relationships (of varied nature), shaping a sort of "playing field" common to all social actors. In this "playing field" ("Crown of Castile"), political-identity relationships (as would any other kind of relationships) have been the object of theoretical constructions and a set of operating rules (regarding the use of the rules - correct or incorrect - of the game and the playing field itself) known to (and therefore, to a certain extent, shared by) all social actors. It is in the use (and abuse) of these rules and in the social actors' position on the playing field where the differences identifying the diverse political-identity collectives are located. Differences and identifications that are especially emphasized by the operation (use) of the system of relationships that bind the social actors (political-identity collectives) present on the playing field.

Today's society lives in constant worry of losing something, so it seems mandatory looking into the past to find elements of identity and prospects for the future. All of this has resulted in the categorical imperative of keeping and preserve all signs of memory. Memory, indeed, has become the central theme, as in a cultural sphere as in the political debate. Memory, since it is able to preserve and reminding as a vector of senses, is a key condition of humanity. A memory, product of experiences and testimony to the sense of the things done and transmitted, it's able of becoming a reminder. An act of conscience by which we reconstruct a certain portion of our past. Without memory and reminding there cannot be identity. ; Today's society lives in constant worry of losing something, so it seems mandatory looking into the past to find elements of identity and prospects for the future. ; The paper aims to retrace the idea of national identity throughout the case study of Turin, as a geographical and cultural territory. It focuses on the evolution of the city during the Sixties. It considers a social and political aspect (the relationship between social and political movements and migrations within the urban space) and a theoretical and cultural one (the exhibitions for the Jubilee of the Unity of Italy as a moment to reflect about the concept of being Italians).

The Author compares how Italians and Argentineans feel to belong to their territorial background. Even though interviewees of both countries have a similar status on many background variables – such as age, gender, education, religiosity, political orientation – Argentineans much less than Italians conceive their country as part of a more general entity, such as a continent or the world.

After the First World War, Italian freemasonry had to reconcile masonic universalism with patriotic demands. The nationalistic turning point, marked by the Grand Master Ernesto Nathan (1917-1918), widened the gap of the vexata quaestio "cosmopolitanism/nationalism" by introducing imperialistic tendencies. Thus, distancing itself from the thinking of Mazzini and the values of the Risorgimento which had been professed and defended until the first decade of the 20th century. The support for the Dalmatian annexation policies became a key issue in order to understand the nationalistic evolution of the Grand Orient of Italy during the war and its aftermath. ; In the last years, the economic crisis heavily hit all the Southern European States, exacerbating well rooted dynamics of impoverishment and precarization. In Italy and Spain, among others, social movements against labour and existential precarity developed and took the streets, receiving a high degree of media attention. In this paper we focus on the movements against precarity in Italy and Spain, in order to analyse their genesis, developments, and future opportunities. In particular, the paper focuses on the movements' claims, their self-representation, the structure of alliances and their strategies of action, highlighting the results of the protests and the repertories of discourse and action.
