The "Huilensidad" and the way to construct it and live it from certain patterns, views and cultural interpretations, readings and recreations of the world that surrounds the inhabitants of a territory that has tried its idea of identity from the insularity imposed by conditions disadvantages has been the subject of some scritos. Durante el siglo XIX se construyó una identidad homosexual particular, medicalizada y estigmatizada .En los años 60, la existencia de esa identidad fue negada por el movimiento gay aunque con su sola existencia parecía confirmar esa especificidad. En la actualidad siguen coexistiendo estos dos discursos, un discurso mayoritario que condena y estigmatiza la homosexualidad, y un discurso politizado que lucha por su normalización. El individuo que se reconoce como homosexual ha de enfrentarse, en primer lugar, a la compensación del discurso estigmatizante, lo que le será más fácil si tiene acceso a los diferentes mecanismos legitimadores. Pero, en este artículo también se consideran otros aspectos que son relevantes para la construcción de una identidad homosexual personal, subalterna o dominante, como son las formas de sociabilidad, la imagen del individuo (afeminado/viril) y su posición socio-estructural, entre otros. Por último, se considera también la dialéctica entre visibilidad y ocultación y la fragmentación existente entre los homosexuales. En consecuencia, resulta difícil hablar de la existencia de una identidad homosexual que incluya a todos los individuos. ; The stigmatized and medicalized homosexual identity was created during the 19th century. In the sixties, the existence of this identity was denied by the Gay Movement, although its negation reinforces its existence. Nowadays these two discourses still coexist, a majority that condemns and stigmatizes homosexuality and a politicized minority that supports its normalization. Persons identifying as homosexual have to contend with the stigmas reinforced by the majority, this process is easier in the presence of legitimating mechanisms. However, in this article I also consider other important questions for the construction of a dominant or secondary homosexual personal identity: forms of sociability, personal image (effeminate/virile), and socio-structural positioning, among others. Finally, I consider the dialectics between visibility and concealment and the fragmentation that exists among homosexuals. Richard Wright was a pioneer in American Literature whose relationship with socialism helped to define him as a person and as a writer. The inspiration behind his literary accomplishments and their impact on his contemporaries can be understood by tracing two of the most important themes in his life, socialism and identity. This article describes the evolution of his relationship with socialism in order to better understand the writer and his best known works in their social and political context. This exercise can also help us to gain a clearer understanding of the cultural and social implications of socialist ideology in the United States after the First World War.

This paper argues that in order to explain why communist Romania did not take part to the crushing of the Prague Spring one should examine the developments in Romanian communism over the years 1956-1968. Second, the present paper examines the legitimacy issue and focuses on perceptions from below of RCP policies in the post-1964 period. The political actions taken by the Romanian communists during the period 1964-1968 resulted in positive actions expressing consent from the part of large segments of the Romanian society. Third, this paper addresses the issue of identity politics under Romanian communism and demonstrates that the year 1968 marked the transition to a comprehensive nation-building project aiming at constructing an ethnically homogenous Romanian "socialist" nation. ; El artículo sostiene que para comprender por qué la Rumanía comunista no tomó parte en el aplastamiento de la primavera de Praga han de examinarse los hechos ocurridos durante los años 1956-1968. En segundo lugar, el estudio examina los problemas de legitimidad y se centra en las percepciones desde debajo de las políticas del la República Popular Rumana. Las acciones políticas de los comunistas rumanos durante el período 1964-1968 resultaron en acciones que expresaban un consenso positivo de parte de grandes sectores de la sociedad rumana. En tercer lugar, el artículo se refiere a la política de identidad durante el comunismo rumano, demostrando que el año 1968 marcó la transición a un amplio proyecto de construcción nacional dirigido a la construcción de una nación "socialista" rumana étnicamente homogénea.

This essay introduces the relationships between the conceptions of identity and modernity in the Canadian philosopher Charles Taylor. In the work of Charles Taylor, the concept of identity is a useful tool in order to see clearly the moral topology of the self in the context of a new vision of the entire moral domain. In his search of this moral sources of the self, Taylor centers his analysis in the modern epoch. He underlines in this period the role of the interior personality, the preeminence of the ordinary life of the family and the economy and the emergence of nature and expression, the expressivist turn. In his essays of the end of the decade of 1980 and of the decade of the 1990, Taylor assigns great importance to the expressivist ideal of authenticity and explores its relations with the idea of recognition. It is in the modern language of authenticity and recognition that we can righty interpret the reemergency of nationalism and religion as a sign of cultural identity. Other practical consequences of the works of Taylor are in the field of multiculturalism, political philosophy and the philosophy of language. At the end of the text some criticism are mentioned, particularly the criticism of José María González who centers in the absence of the baroque culture in Taylor. ; Este ensayo es una investigación sobre las relaciones entre las concepciones de modernidad e identidad en la obra del filósofo canadiense Charles Taylor. This article will present cartography on the various peaces making further reference to intercultural peace so as to help us understand the multicultural and intercultural discourse that is being built within the European Union and constitutes an example of conflict in identity construction. The problem with European society is its inability to integrate, not only among themselves, but rather in the possibility of people coming from outside the EU. This article aims to explain the need, the challenge and the response which means multiculturalism in the EU. Introducing intercultural Peace as a bridge between cultures may coexist and enhance each other. We are located in a hermeneutical development of think of ourselves from the 'other' and observe the difficulties of intertwine ourselves between multiculturalism and interculturalism. The results encourage us to think that if EU does not move towards an intercultural project, the possibility of future conflicts will be increasingly present in Spanish society. Peace and interculturality are related, complemented and fed back at once, so we pretend from different peaces (negative, positive, and neutral) bring interculturality into the school. ; En este artículo vamos a plantear una cartografía sobre las distintas paces haciendo una mayor referencia a la Paz intercultural para que nos ayude a entender el discurso multicultural e intercultural que se está construyendo dentro de la Unión Europea y que constituye un ejemplo de conflicto en la construcción de dicha identidad. El problema que presenta la sociedad europea es su incapacidad para integrarse, no sólo entre ellos, sino en la posibilidad de que vengan personas de fuera de la UE. Este artículo pretende explicitar la necesidad, el reto y la respuesta que significa la interculturalidad en la UE. Presentamos la Paz intercultural como un puente entre culturas que pueden convivir y enriquecerse mutuamente. Estamos ubicados en un desarrollo hermenéutico de pensarnos desde el «otro» y ver las dificultades de entrelazarnos entre multiculturalidad e interculturalidad. Los resultados animan a pensar que si la UE no avanza en un proyecto intercultural la posibilidad de futuros conflictos va a estar cada vez más presente dentro de la sociedad española. La paz y la interculturalidad se relacionan, complementa y retroalimentan a la vez, por lo que pretendemos desde diferentes paces (negativa, positiva y neutra) llevar la interculturalidad a la Escuela.

This current article, a result of a historic hermeneutic research, aims to highlight how the indigenous people have been able to, along the path of the modern indigenous movement, take advantage of the political opportunities offered by the context, in order to boost their identity and in it, its mobilization. As in the recovery of their identity, the construction as a collective and political subjects, have gained stature and political muscle by collating their identity with that of other actors and with that of the state, to which they compete for values, rights, and respect, for their identity. They have shaped the social actor of major prominence, as well as the capacity of summon, and this is what places them in the vanguard of the social struggle.

Indigenous peoples in Colombia, which still exist despite the policy of extermination operated by the state, market players, the educational model and forced Christianization, define their identity linked to their spirituality and in the context of membership of the territories. In this article the relationship from the struggle for own authority, autonomy, identity and territory have been advancing some of the organizations of indigenous people in Colombia develops. Asimismo, se trabajará con la diferencia entre marca-destino y marca-gestión y el tipo de universales políticos que cada una de ellas conlleva. ; The purpose of the article is to put forward examples in recent history of ways of perceiving the city through branding. Our hypothesis is that essentialist definitions on what it means to build an "us" as a political collective and an "us in the city" can be found in these examples. This discussion renews the classic formulations on the projection of membership and citizenship.We will aim to trace the way in which city brands have been characterized and questioned by European architecture and urbanism in the 80s and its new manifestations in Latin America in the context of the neoliberal policies of the 90s. Football has become a determining part of local, national identity, in minority environment, in several places football is also a means of separation from the majority nation and the state ruled by the majority. Sport and within this, football plays a special role in the emphasis of their national identity; as with its help Catalans strengthen their own national culture. Football is also a political statement in Catalonia, as they attach political importance to their own national team and to FC Barcelona which represents and symbolises their whole nation and Catalonia. ; El fútbol se convierte en parte o en elemento determinante de la identidad nacional, en el terreno de las minorías, el fútbol en muchos casos es un instrumento para la desvinculación de la nación que compone la mayoría y del Estado dominado por dicha mayoría. El deporte y en él el fútbol, juega un papel muy importante a la hora de hacer hincapié en su identidad nacional y por medio de él se refuerza la identidad cultural de los catalanes. En Cataluña el fútbol sirve también para demostrar la postura política de los catalanes, su selección nacional y el equipo FC Barcelona simbolizan y representan toda Cataluña.

This article examines political developments leading up to the September 23rd, 2013 constitutional court decision in the Dominican Republic which changed the country's citizenship policy and applied it retroactively to 1929, citing the "in transit" clause in their 1929 constitution. I examine this internationally controversial action of redefining "in transit" clause as a spectacle that remakes various lived experiences into mere representations of elitist visions of Dominicanness and thus a powerful vehicle for isolating and consolidating power. Through examining these legislative actions as a spectacle, a public display of governmental power to rewrite law in the present and to concretized the image of Haitians as quintessentially non-Dominican, fraudulent and threatening, Dominican citizenship is detached from aspects of lived experiences and previous political/cultural realities so that Dominicanness becomes this generalized trope and object of endless contemplation. The spectacle functions, primarily, in attracting an international stage of human rights defenders to which the government labels interventionist and sovereignty-violators. It is with this neo-colonial discourse that the Dominican government consolidates dissenting national opinions around the amendment ; Este artículo examina los desarrollos políticos que llevaron a la decisión de la corte constitucional el 23 de septiembre del 2013, en la República Dominicana, que cambió la política de ciudadanía del país y la aplicó retroactivamente al 1929, citando la cláusula "en tránsito" en su constitución 1929. Examino esta controversial acción internacional de redefinir la cláusula "en tránsito" como un espectáculo que rehace varias experiencias vividas en meras representaciones de una visión elitista de la Dominicanidad, y por lo tanto un poderoso vehículo para aislar y consolidar poder. A través de examinar estas acciones legislativas como un espectáculo, una muestra pública de poder de reescribir la ley en el presente y concretar la imagen de los haitianos como esencialmente como no dominicanos. fraudulentos y amanezadores, la ciudadanía dominicana se separa de las experiencias vividas y las realidades políticas y culturales previas, por lo que la dominicanidad se convierte en un cliché y objeto de contemplación infinita. Las funciones del espectáculo, principalmente, es atraer el escenario de defensores internacionales de los derechos humanos a los que el gobierno etiqueta de intervencionistas y violadores de la soberanía. Es con este discurso neocolonialista que el gobierno dominicano consolida las disidentes opiniones nacionales alrededor de la reforma.

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the importance of History in the shaping of values, configurations and imaginaries during the childhood. Political beliefs such as national and ethnic identities, are usually acquired in the school and defines largely the social behavior throughout lifetime. Thus, the powers striving to control the History Teaching in order of impose their own visions on citizens. In the following paragraphs will be presented this phenomenon through the case of the Bicentenary Collection, a textbook series edited by the Venezuelan State since 2012. The core idea is to show how some cultural values prompted by Bolivarian Revolution, such as their ethnics policies, especially the idea of Afrodescendencia (Afro American Heritage) as Venezuelan basic identity, have a strong presence likewise other are silenced in these textbooks. ; La importancia de la enseñanza de la historia se puede medir por los propósitos en ella implícitos. También, porque lo que con ella se estampa en la memoria es válido para toda la vida. Se sabe que muchas de las imágenes con las que los actores sociales asumen su existencia vital se asocian con lo aprehendido en la infancia y la juventud. La ductilidad de la mente humana, a temprana edad, es propicia para fijar en ella representaciones y configuraciones con las cuales se afinan formas de pertenencia territorial, política y cultural; he allí uno de los elementos clave para abordar algunos aspectos de la enseñanza de la historia en tiempos de parcialidad cultural y moldeados bajo la idea de revolución. Las líneas que siguen se enmarcan en una breve aproximación a libros de texto de la colección bicentenaria, dedicados a la enseñanza de la historia y divulgados en Venezuela a partir del año 2012, así como también a algunos valores culturales afines con el proyecto político desplegado desde 1998, entre los que se destaca la afrodescendencia y sus concomitancias.
