PurposeImplementing sustainability into global supply networks remains a challenge for companies. Purchasing and supply management (PSM) interacts closely with supply network actors, thus influencing how the firm's value creation is delivered. While previous sustainable PSM (SPSM) research has shed light on how to manage sustainability on an organizational level, the individual competences PSM professionals require are less understood. The paper aims to discuss this issue.Design/methodology/approachThe authors conducted a systematic literature review to determine the current research coverage of specific competences and knowledge required to implement sustainability. The authors complemented this with data from 46 interviews with practitioners. From coding the data with NVivo, a first comprehensive competence overview for SPSM was developed.FindingsThe literature review results, complemented with interview data, highlight that functional-oriented, cognition-oriented, social-oriented and meta-oriented competences form part of a comprehensive SPSM competence model. We propose a framework that includes these, and integrates two behavioral moderators on the organizational level, i.e. situational enabling, as well as empowerment and obligation.Research limitations/implicationsWhile the proposed framework provides a basic first systematization of SPSM competences, further research is needed to extend it. There is ample opportunity to shed further light on both individual and organizational-level factors that influence the application of SPSM competences, and therefore SPSM behavior.Practical implicationsThe results have implications for higher education and professional training programs in companies. The framework provides an overview of competences needed for SPSM. The discussion highlights the need to apply education and training methods for different types of competences that are suitable for conveying implicit knowledge apart from explicit knowledge.Originality/valueAdressing a current research gap in sustainability-related competences in PSM, the overall framework highlights SPSM competences of interest to both scholars and managers alike.

PurposeThis paper aims to examine the effect of high-involvement work systems (HIWSs) on completing work and avoiding distraction as two dimensions of presenteeism. It also investigates competence as a mediator of the effect of HIWS on presenteeism.Design/methodology/approachData were collected from 343 Bangladeshi bank employees using an online survey. The partial least squares-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was employed to assess the abovementioned linkages.FindingsThe findings demonstrate HIWS directly avoid distraction but do not significantly impact the completing work dimension of presenteeism. The findings also indicate that competence mediates the effect of HIWS on completing work but not on avoiding distraction.Originality/valueDrawing on the job demands-resources (JD-R) model, this study empirically demonstrates the contrasting role of HIWS in completing work and avoiding distraction related to presenteeism. It also provides a novel perspective on the unexplored mediating mechanism of competence on the relationship between HIWS and presenteeism and offers new directions for HIWS and presenteeism research.

Internet sebagai media digital telah menawarkan berbagai macam kemudahan seiring perkembangan zaman. Media sosial seperti facebook dan twitter kerap digunakan seseorang sebaga tempat mencari dan membagikan informasi. Salah satu informasi yang disebarkan di media sosial yaitu informasi tentang Covid-19 yang kian marak dari tahun 2019 sampai 2021 sekarang. Membuat oknum yang tidak bertanggung jawab menyebarkan informasi hoax. Di satu sisi khalayak cukup percaya dengan informasi hoax tersebut. Oleh karena Itu mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi sebagaai mahasiswa yang nantinya akan terjun ke dalam dunia media juga perlu mempunyai kemampuan literasi media yang baik. Metode penelitian ini dengan menggunakan deskriptif tujuannya untuk memahami fenomena yang terjadi. Teknik penentuan informan menggunakan purposif sampling. Jumlah responden penelitian berjumlah 184 yang terdiri dari mahasiswa angkatan 2016-2019. Metode analisis yang digunakan yaitu deskriptif kualitatif, deskriptif dengan menggunakan rentang skala untuk mengubah data yang bersifat kualitatif ke dalam bentuk kuantitatif. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui kemampuan literasi media mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi yang dapat dilihat melalui individual competence framework tiga kompetensi, yaitu : technical skills, critical understanding, dan communicative abilities. Dari hasil temuan yang diperoleh mahasiswa Ilmu Komunikasi mempunyai kemampuan menggunakan komputer dan internet dengan baik dan aktif. Kemampuan mahasiswa dalam memahami konten dan fungsi jejaring sosial seperti facebook dan twitter dengan baik, akan tetapi untuk perilaku dan regulasi perlu ditingkatkan lagi. Selain itu juga mengenai kemampuan berkomunikasi dan membangun relasi di situs jejaring sosial dengan baik, kemampuan berpartisipasi dengan masyarakat melalui situs jejaring sosial dengan baik dan kemampuan memproduksi dan mengkreasikan konten melalui situs jejaring sosial kurang, dan perlu ada tingkatan lagi. Developing environmental competence is an important challenge in order to achieve the higher level of sustainable development. Environmental competence of individuals and organizations shall be harmonized because the global problems of the world are common. I built up a comprehensive model that allows evaluating and establishing development actions for environmental consciousness. Our task is describing and modelling competences in general. Environmental competence gives only one area of our research work. The paper summarizes some presumptions, theoretical and empirical background of my work. Environmental knowledge and attitudes are highlighted because these factors have elementary importance. My diagnosis is distressing; the results show that there is a huge lack in the knowledge of adults. Open innovation serves as a principal paradigm for success in diverse and dynamic business environments, as it gives the promise of a better-marked acceptance, a higher level of novelty, and managed innovation risks. However, SMEs face a critical challenge in developing open innovation capabilities and establishing new organizational processes that would empower employees to perform in open innovation regimes. We analyze the mediating role of organizational capabilities for employing and facilitating individual competences for innovation performance improvement as based on a survey of 266 SMEs. This study aimed to identify links between organizational capabilities and individual comp etences in AI for innovation performance in SMEs. The results of our study showed that organizational capabilities in AI at the level of organizations play a role as a mediator between competences for AI at the individual level and the progress of innovations. Considering that organizational skills in AI (organizational culture openness, organizational learning and trust, knowledge management systems, etc.) are strong organizational tools that help to increase the efficiency of AI and individual competences (to enhance employee creativity, enhance interaction with partners) as well as management competences (flexibility, ability to work with various professional communities, strategic thinking, etc.). This study partially refutes the assumptions that SMEs can only achieve innovative progress through individual competences in AI. Organizational capabilities in AI are also very important for AI implementation.

Purpose: This study aimed to determine the influence of individual competence, workload, and incentives on the interest of State Civil Servants for the positions of Commitment-Making Officials in Malaka Regency. Research methodology: The type of method in this research is quantitative research method. The sampling techniques used are Non-probability Sampling method and Saturated Sampling technique. The data analysis techniques are simple linear regression and multiple linear analyses. Results: The results of this study are that partially, individual competence, workload, and incentives have a positive but not significant effect on the interest of civil servants in the Commitment-Making Official Positions in Malaka Regency. Individual competence, workload, and incentives simultaneously have a positive and significant effect on the interest of civil servants in commitment-making positions in Malaka Regency. Limitations: Research variables are complex and research results may change in the future. Contribution: The findings of this study can be used as the basis for evaluating the Malaka local government bureaucracy and can be scientific information for students of the public administration program.

Although several studies have demonstrated that stereotypes can be mixed in terms of warmth and competence (e.g., cold but competent), the possibility of mixed discrimination has received very little attention so far. To this end, the present study investigated mixed discriminatory judgments of individuals. In two studies, the participants judged the empathic (warmth) and the cognitive (competence) ability of individuals who differed only in whether they belonged to a group typically stereotyped as warm but incompetent or cold but competent. Study 1 compared Greeks with Germans (nationality) and Study 2 preschool teachers with lawyers (occupation). In both studies, the judgments were discriminatory in a mixed pattern consistent with the groups' stereotype content.
