Coalitional behaviour is central to the Italian system of government but has been largely neglected by research. As a result, coalitions in post-war Italy have been viewed as simply unstable, short-lived and incohesive. In March 2024, the High Representative (HR) in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Christian Schmidt, once again used his "Bonn powers" under the Dayton Peace Agreement which, inter alia, enable him to impose substantial legislation. After a dark warning, he enacted a new package of reforms concerning the electoral process. While these reforms reflect the necessary and desirable changes in the process of the EU accession, concurrently resolving a political stalemate, this schmidtian mode also creates further political cleavages. Nevertheless, arguably a "Smith" has found a fairly clever way forward.

Abstract
This study considers State silence which may entail acquiescence and can thus contribute inter alia to the formation of historic rights, the identification of customary international law, and the interpretation of treaties over time. Relying on the historical understanding of acquiescence in British and francophone literature, it argues that there are probability and normative justifications for establishing acquiescence as a 'presumption of acceptance' in international law, and that these considerations have influenced the modern international law understanding of acquiescence as an exceptional occurrence subject to stringent qualifications.

ZusammenfassungDas Special Issue beleuchtet demokratische Einstellungen in den deutschen Bundesländern vor dem Hintergrund der Polykrise. Besondere Bedeutung kommt dabei den Ländermonitoren zu, die als Datenquellen der politischen Kulturforschung bislang weitestgehend unbeachtet blieben. Die Ergebnisse verdeutlichen eine hohe Legitimität der Demokratie, jedoch zeigen sich regionale Unterschiede hinsichtlich der Demokratiezufriedenheit und des Institutionenvertrauens – diese betreffen sowohl das Niveau als auch zentrale Bestimmungsfaktoren. Intraregionale Analysen enthüllen darüber hinaus Unterschiede zwischen städtischen und ländlichen Gebieten. Trotz methodischer Herausforderungen bieten die Ländermonitore ein erhebliches Potenzial für die regionale politische Kulturforschung und ermöglichen einen detaillierten Blick auf regionale Spezifika sowie zentrale Problemlagen. Der Beitrag plädiert für eine teilweise Standardisierung der Erhebungsinstrumente und spricht sich für die Erweiterung der Länderstudien auf bisher nicht abgedeckte Regionen aus, um somit eine noch systematischere Analyse der inter- als auch intraregionalen politischen Kultur(-en) in Deutschland zu ermöglichen.

This article critically reflects on the dominant narrative on the climate crisis and its energy transition programs. The energy transition has been reproducing the structures of the contemporary capitalist system, namely its extractivist, technological and financial apparatuses. Inspired by critical perspectives that hallenge the dichotomous divisions perpetuated by the hegemonic ontological framework, I argue that in order to face the ecological crisis, we must adopt practices based on non-dualistic ontologies that recognize the deep and close relationships of (inter)dependence that sustain life on Earth.

Initially, this collaborative autoethnography brought together five authors to explore the trope of sound through re/membering the self and storying family. But it very quickly became an exploration of the inter-reliability and inner relatability of sounds of home, heritage, and the heart across diverse human lived experiences of grief, mourning, recovery, and intergenerational legacies of hope. The essay explores the relational practice between self in relation to culture that always informs autoethnography as qualitative inquiry, which is intentionally exploited and magnified in this collaborative autoethnography.

The article presents the issue of so-called "subsequent consent" for evidence obtained in thecourse of operating surveillance, and interpretation of Art. 168b of the Code of Criminal Procedure(CCP). The analysis covers, inter alia, the nature of the prosecutor's decision on the use of evidencein criminal proceedings as well as the issue of meaning of expression "an offence prosecuted ex officio or a fiscal offence other than the offence, against which the control was directed" in the context of its constitutionality and the possibility of its pro-constitutional interpretation.
