Bookreview: M.C. Ricklefs, Islamisation and Its Opponents in Java: A Political, Social, and Religious History, c. 1930 to the Present (Singapore: NUS Press, 2012, xxi+575 halaman)This work of Ricklefs is the last in a trilogy and follows Mystic Synthesis in Java: A History of Islamisation from the Fourteenth to the Early Nineteenth Centuries (2006), and Polarising Javanese Society: Islamic and Other Visions c. 1830–1930 (2007). The three works comprehensively discuss the Islamization of Java since the 14th century. Observing the process and dynamics of Islamization in Javanese society during the centuries up until the contemporary era, Ricklefs concludes that Javanese Muslims have surpassed the difficult times of the early spread of Islam, the era of Dutch and Japanese colonialism, the messy government of Soekarno, the totalitarian government of Soeharto, and contemporary democratic period. Undergoing various changes, Javanese Muslims have become an outstanding example of increased Islamic religiosity. DIASPORA ETNIK JAWA DAN TRANSMISI BAHASA JAWA ANTARGENERASI DI SUMATRA UTARA
Diaspora Javanese ethnic to North Sumatra driven at the time of the Dutch government in large quantities create their identity loss there now . Java language in North Sumatra did not survive as it should be. Javanese ethnic, prefers to use the Indonesian language in everyday communication rather than the Javanese language as a consequence of assimilation with the local culture, namely the Malay culture. This study aimed to describe the intergenerational transmission of the Java language in North Sumatra as a reference for the vitality of the Java language in there . The study used a qualitative descriptive method . As a result, intergenerational transmission of the Java language in North Sumatra show gradations drastic decline from generation to generation . The older generation does not transmit an javanese language to the next generation so well that indicated the Java language in North Sumatra are threatened with extinction. ABSTRAKDiaspora etnik Jawa ke Sumatra Utara dalam jumlah yang cukup besar yang digerakkan pada zaman pemerintah Hindia Belanda membuat etnik Jawa di sana kehilangan identitas bahasanya. Bahasa Jawa di Sumatra Utara tidak bertahan sebagaimana mestinya. Etnik Jawa lebih memilih menggunakan bahasa Indonesia dalam komunikasi sehari-hari daripada bahasa Jawanya sebagai konsekuensi pembauran dengan kebudayaan lokal, yaitu budaya Melayu. Kajian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan transmisi bahasa Jawa antargenerasi di Sumatra Utara sebagai acuan vitalitas bahasa Jawa di sana. Kajian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasilnya, transmisi bahasa Jawa antargenerasi di Sumatra Utara menunjukkan gradasi penurunan yang drastis dari generasi ke generasi. Generasi tua etnik Jawa tidak mentransmisikan bahasanya kepada generasi berikutnya dengan baik sehingga diindikasikan bahasa Jawa di Sumatra Utara sekarang dalam kondisi terancam punah.

Keterlibatan Warga Terhadap Akun Twitter Pemerintah Provinsi Jawa Tengah, Jawa Timur, Jawa Barat : Analisa Data Mining
This article focuses on citizen engagement analysis on local government twitter through data mining analysis. Based on the concept of measuring citizen engagement from Haro-de-Rosario in 2018, this article analyzes three official twitter accounts of the Central Java provincial government, East Java province and West Java province. Data were collected by data mining with Scrape Storm software with measurement dimensions consisting of love, reply, retweet, tweet, and followers. The measurement results reveal that the level of citizen engagement varies widely, the highest value of citizen engagement is the account of the province of East Java (0.00068), and the second rank is the province of Central Java with a value of 0.00031 and the third rank is the province of West Java with a value of 0.00023. The design of public communication policies on social media should consider aspects of the level of citizen engagement as a benchmark for government efforts to increase public participation interest in managing local government.

Rencana pemerintah untuk membuat jalan bebas hambatan di sepanjang tanah Jawa adalah berita yang memang menyedor perhatian publik. Para ekonom dan politisi berkomentar. Para akademisi dan agamawan sibuk mencari dalil penolakan. Para perencana dan penanam modal lebih asyik lagi untuk menguatkan pendapatnya mengingat pendapatan mereka memang ditentukan oleh keberhasilan menonjolkan program. Jalan tol dibangun dengan argumentasi sederhana untuk mengatasi kemacetan dan dalam rangka membuka kesempatan kerja. Padahal asal-usul yang sibuk melatarinya adalah hendak menghidupkan konglemerasi wilayah publik ke dalam ranah privat aras nama penanaman modal.

MAKNA KUBAH MASJID DI PULAU JAWA STUDI KASUS: MASJID AGUNG DI JAWA
bstract:.Mosque is a house of worship of Muslims and is a work of art and culture of architecture. The development of Islam is in line with the development of architecture, namely Mosque Architecture. As we often see today, the mosque is identical to the dome on its roof. In its use, the dome of the mosque is used as a structure and construction but some are only used as aesthetic ornaments. With the many uses of the dome on the building of the mosque, making some people think the dome that is used as a hallmark of this mosque is the ornament of the Islamic Architects. If noticed, the ancient mosque on the island of Java at first has no dome. Characteristic of the ancient mosque in Java, among others, the roof is in the form of overlapping two to five levels upwards. While the mosque building that we often encounter today is a mosque that has a dome roof. We need to learn more about the development of this mosque architecture in the context of roof overlap and domes. So we need to know whether the meaning of the dome applied to the mosque in Java. This study reveals that, the meaning of the dome evolved according to the needs of the mosque itself, such as political symbols, gratitude, and media of da'wah. Keyword: mosque, dome, meaning Abstrak: Masjid adalah rumah ibadah umat Islam dan merupakan suatu karya seni dan budaya dalam bidang arsitektur. Perkembangan Agama Islam sejalan dengan perkembangan arsitekturnya, yakni Arsitektur Masjid. Seperti yang sering kita lihat sekarang, Masjid sangat identik dengan kubah di bagian atapnya. Dalam penggunaannya, kubah masjid ada yang digunakan sebagai struktur dan konstruksi namun ada pula yang hanya digunakan sebagai ornamen estetika. Dengan banyaknya penggunaan kubah pada bangunan masjid, menjadikan sebagian orang beranggapan kubah yang dijadikan ciri khas masjid ini adalah ornamen dari Arsitekur Islam. Jika diperhatikan, masjid kuno di pulau Jawa pada awalnya tidak ada yang memiliki kubah. Ciri khas masjid kuno di Jawa antara lain atapnya yang berbentuk tumpang bersusun dua hingga lima tingkat keatas semakin mengecil. Sedangkan bangunan masjid yang sering kita temui saat ini adalah masjid yang memiliki atap kubah. Perkembangan arsitektur masjid ini dalam konteks atap tumpang dan kubah, perlu kita pelajari lebih lanjut. Sehingga perlu kita ketahui apakah makna kubah yang diterapkan pada masjid di Jawa. Penelitian ini mengungkap bahwa, pemaknaan kubah berkembang sesuai kebutuhan yang di capai masjid itu sendiri, seperti simbol politik, rasa syukur,dan media dakwah. Historically, Saminism was born as a cultural andpolitical reaction against colonialism but practically it was more aboutreligious way, in this point some religions in Java have been interactedwith saminism leaders and followers. Based on those facts it would beinteresting to understand how the relation between Islamic values andsaminism through socio-ethnography. On the other hand, how the historyof saminism related to political and social condition of Indonesia isalso interesting. Agama Adam or religion of Adam as a way on Saminismeis one of evidence that Islamic values connected with saminism.
