The separation of theory and practice of the European integration created a very dangerous situation for the European Union. The article presents this crisis from the points of view of philosophy, political science and journalism. The"European poison of thought" expressed by a lack of trust of citizens towards the EU institutions perceived as inadequate in addressing the most fundamental problems of the EU citizens, as well as scepticism towards the enlargement of the Union, aversion to financial solidarity with weaker Member States, and disappointment with legal overregulation and money wasting, are just a few out of a long list of problems that make people lose their trust in the European integration. The author also considers the greatest weaknesses of the European Union: preferring interests of those who are present and well-organised on the political arena and the fact that the real majority of EU citizens stays outside the formal democratic structures thus becoming a part of the process of exclusion and fragmentation. The state of affairs in the EU, following according to Karl Jaspers, is called a limit situation, where it possible either to withdraw or rise and exceed restrictions. The author considers hope and radicalism as two forces that power the European political activists; in order to unite them, a new faith, values and hope based on the traditional foundations are needed. This new way of thinking about the EU, the joined-up thinking, is possibly a response to the demand for a radical revival in the EU.

Ukraine, as a prominent republic of the Soviet Union, and - after disintegration of the USSR - a sovereign country playing a significant role in the geopolitics of the Central Eastern Europe, has been an important object of Polish journalists' interest. The analysis of the texts and comments in the Polish press between 1988 and 1994 about emancipation transformations in Ukraine and social, political and economic issues of this country in the first period of its independence leads to conclusion that the public discussion participants have had positive and corroborative attitude towards the emancipation of the Ukrainians. Providing opportunities and threats in achieving the actual and solid independence of that republic the commentators express their opinions carefully. As the main obstacles they stress the imperialist ambitions of Russia, the problem of maintaining the territorial integrity of the state, the economic crisis related to the collapse of the Soviet economy and the consequences of exercising power by the postSoviet party apparatus representatives. The publicists claim, the first period of Ukrainian's independence closed the conversion of Ukraine to the integration with Russia. ; Ukraina, jako ważna republika Związku Radzieckiego, a następnie niepodległe państwo odgrywające znaczną rolę w geopolityce regionu Europy Środkowo-Wschodniej, stanowiła istotny przedmiot zainteresowania polskich publicystów i komentatorów. Analiza tekstów publicystycznych oraz opinii ukazujących się w polskiej prasie między 1988 a 1994 r. na temat przemian emancypacyjnych na Ukrainie oraz problemów społecznych, politycznych i gospodarczych tego kraju w pierwszym okresie niepodległości pozwala stwierdzić, że uczestnicy publicznej debaty entuzjastycznie odnosili się do dążeń Ukraińców do utworzenia samodzielnego państwa. Trafnie diagnozując szanse i zagrożenia dla uzyskania przez tę republikę faktycznej niepodległości, formułowali ostrożne oceny na temat ostatecznego powodzenia planów utworzenia przez Ukraińców samodzielnego i demokratycznego państwa. Jako główne przeszkody wymieniali przede wszystkim imperialistyczne ambicje Rosji, problem zachowania integralności terytorialnej państwa, kryzys gospodarczy wynikający z krachu radzieckiej gospodarki, a także konsekwencje związane z utrzymaniem się przy władzy przedstawicieli postsowieckiej nomenklatury. Pierwszy okres niepodległości państwa zamknął w opinii publicystów zwrot Ukrainy w kierunku integracji z Rosją.

The subject of the article are the opinions of the USSR and Russia experts published in the magazine "The Ark" in the years 1991–1995 and concerning the future of Russian Federation. The authors of those publications attempted to answer the question which direction will the internal development of Russia take, when it comes to its politics, economy and social relations. Also they discussed about the tactics that the Russian state will choose for its relations with neighbors, and particularly Ukraine, Belarus and the Baltic States. Most of the publicists expressed an opinion that Russia will not develop in the direction of liberal democracy and will become a formally democratic, but actually authoritarian rule state instead, with a strong position of the officials-business class. As far foreign policy is concerned there will be attempts at rebuilding the position of a superpower that was forfeited as the results of loss in the Cold War conflict with the United States and Western Europe. ; Tematem artykułu są opinie znawców ZSRR i Rosji zamieszczane na łamach czasopisma "Arka" w latach 1991–1995, dotyczące przyszłości Federacji Rosyjskiej. Autorzy publikacji próbowali odpowiedzieć na pytanie, w jakim kierunku będzie zmierzał rozwój wewnętrzny Rosji zarówno w dziedzinie polityki, gospodarki, jak i stosunków społecznych. Zastanawiano się także nad taktyką, jaką podejmie państwo rosyjskie w stosunkach z sąsiadami, szczególnie z Ukrainą, Białorusią i państwami nadbałtyckimi. Większość publicystów wyrażało opinię, że Rosja nie będzie się rozwijać w kierunku zachodniego modelu demokracji liberalnej, lecz stanie się państwem formalnie demokratycznym, ale faktycznie rządzonym w sposób autorytarny z silną pozycją warstwy urzędniczo-biznesowej. W wymiarze polityki zagranicznej będą natomiast podejmowane próby odbudowy pozycji mocarstwowej utraconej w wyniku porażki w konflikcie zimnowojennym ze Stanami Zjednoczonymi i z Europą Zachodnią.

Metal-morphoses On the language of metal journalism in the monthly "Rock'N'Roll" in 1990-1991

This article is an attempt at analyzing the language of journalists dealing with different types of metal music in the "Rock'N'Roll" magazine, which appeared in 1990-1991. The period after the transformation of the system in Poland is particularly interesting because of the development of music journalism, and the "Rock'N'Roll" seems to be the bravest music magazine of that time. Cycles of articles, concert reviews, disc reviews, analysis of the phenomenon – all of them constitute a very intriguing picture of this period in the development of musical awareness of Polish heavy metal audience.

The discussion about mutual relations between the media and politics in democracy is going on for years. One of the key issues in this debate is the impact of media on political choices and political part icipation of citizens. Last years we are observing signifi cant changes in the ways of presenting content by political actors, especially in the media. New media syst em ecology requires creativity both in political communication creating and analyzing it. One of the interest ing paradigm of this kind of analysis is gamifi cation. Th is article aims is to find out how gamifi cation elements are currently used in the practice of journalism and how the gamified schemes of political broadcast talk have the potential to st rengthen the democratic and civic purposes of journalism. The authors of this art icle are inclined to the idea that convergence between politics and popular culture can have also a positive effect for the implementation of democratic practices and civil society. And gamification creates an interest ing paradigm for underst anding political reality in terms of fun and entert ainment (according to the threat of tabloidization). Observing the dynamics of broadcast journalism it can be seen that even they can be analyzed in terms of gamifi cation mechanisms – the roles adopted by the journalist s and guest s are functional in the logic of the game. Th e prize (viewers' attention) is evident for both groups, and interactions run more oft en in ways that allow them to gain dominance and 'win' the interaction. Th e authors analyze the behavior of journalist s conducting the TV affairs programs through the scheme of roles taken in the game (according to Richard Bart le typology: achievers, explorers, socializers, killers). The objective of the research was to assess video games related to the Russian-Ukrainian war and categorise them as media tools. The study revealed that computer games are a distinctive and practical medium for journalism. They help to dismantle the opposing side's narratives and disseminate information globally about the situation in Ukraine. Video games can help Ukrainian society convey to the world the consequences of Russian aggression.

Industry specialized journalism is essential for the creation and use of computer (video) games. They are representing one of industries from creative economy which is emerging on early XXI century. Media representatives inform about the progress in development of new titles, test them before their release date, show developers the advantages and disadvantages of their productions, impact on user feedback and describe events and trends related to the communities directly involved in the games, as well as with their surroundings. The article aims to present a case study of human resources management model in the Internet editorial absorbed in topics connected to computer games which is a part of big media company.
