Deep brain stimulation (DBS) for Parkinson's disease is a highly effective treatment in controlling otherwise debilitating symptoms. Yet the underlying brain mechanisms are currently not well understood. Whole-brain computational modeling was used to disclose the effects of DBS during resting-state functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging in ten patients with Parkinson's disease. Specifically, we explored the local and global impact that DBS has in creating asynchronous, stable or critical oscillatory conditions using a supercritical bifurcation model. We found that DBS shifts global brain dynamics of patients towards a Healthy regime. This effect was more pronounced in very specific brain areas such as the thalamus, globus pallidus and orbitofrontal regions of the right hemisphere (with the left hemisphere not analyzed given artifacts arising from the electrode lead). Global aspects of integration and synchronization were also rebalanced. Empirically, we found higher communicability and coherence brain measures during DBS-ON compared to DBS-OFF. Finally, using our model as a framework, artificial in silico DBS was applied to find potential alternative target areas for stimulation and whole-brain rebalancing. Confronted by a persistent Communist guerilla movement (NPA - New People's Army), the Philippine government of President Corazon Aquino, since assuming office in February 1986, has attempted to channel existing civilian and para-military organizations into a controlled counter-insurgency structure. It has three levels. At the top are the Civilian Armed Force Geographical Units (CAFGU), numbering about 44,000, and operating under direct supervision of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP). The CAFGU are designed to take the place of the Civilian Home Defense Forces (CHDF), organized in 1967 under the administration of President Ferdinand Marcos. Poorly supervised, and frequently employed as private "armies" of wealthy businessmen, estate owners, and local political tycoons, the CHDF acquired an odious reputation because of its human rights abuses. Below CAFGU is the Civilian Volunteer Organization (CVO), now numbering about 20,000 and not primarily used in armed combat with the NPA, serving instead as a supportive civilian watch and village improvement organization. Unlike CAFGU, its members are not regularly supervised by the AFP. Budget allocations are such that the organizational structure and degree of formal government control over CAFGU and CVO remains haphazard. This means that, as in the past, free wheeling vigilante organizations continue to be an important (and third level) element in the government's counter-insurgency program. Philippine vigilantism has deep historic and social roots in the country's feudal traditions. This curatorial practice research gathered international artists and performance makers with academics and actors working in the fields of public health policy, local and national governance and environmental and biological sciences to deliver a programme of publicly sited and participatory performance works and a seminar focused on the politics, poetics, aesthetics and ecological paradigms of water. Produced by ANTI Contemporary Art Festival (Kuopio, Finland) in partnership with the Finnish organisation Our Water Conscious Land, the research presented an interdisciplinary set of enquiries that, across creative and discursive frameworks examined how water, and the processes that enable and construct human interaction, are variously apprehended in terms of political and ecological crisis and danger (the human cost of waterborne migration, global warming etc.) and (allied to romanticism's natural-world narratives and historical cultural/creative practices) as 'life giving' and the locus of 'progress', leisure, urbanism, civility and exploration. Our analysis centres specifically on critically examining and developing the concept of 'citimer' (citizen-consumer) with respect to activist supporter groups within European professional men's football. First, to establish the structural and cultural context for our analysis, we argue that the emergence of citizen-consumer identities in football has been driven by five underlying processes: globalization, commodification, securitization, mediatization, and postmodernization. Critical football fan movements have responded to these changes through greater reflexivization and politicization. Second, drawing on the broad academic literature, we develop the concept of the citizen-consumer (or 'citimer') and introduce its relevance to football. Third, to provide a more nuanced understanding of the citizen-consumer, we explore how this 'citimer' identity is constructed in two ways: 'from below' (by fan groups themselves at everyday level) and 'from above' (by clubs, governing bodies, media and other powerful forces within the football system). In both instances, we find that the citizen and consumer aspects of the citimer identity are interrelated in complex ways. Fourth, we conclude by highlighting the political reflexivity of citimers, and areas for future research. Our analysis draws on extensive data collection: with football supporters and officials in the Czech Republic, England and Italy, and at the wider European level; and, through access to diverse primary and secondary documents (e.g. policy papers, fanzines, and online forums). Our findings may be applied to examine citimer identities, practices and social relations not just within football and sport, but in many other cultural fields, such as art, communication, drama, fashion, film, and music.

Pengaturan ini dilakukan khususnya pada para tahanan internasional yang ditahan oleh negara lain, fungsinya untuk mencegah terjadinya berbagai bentuk perbuatan yang sewenang-wenang, perbuatan yang merendahkan martabat manusia, perbuatan penyiksaan, kekerasan dan paksaan terhadap para tahanan yang berada di dalam tahanan.Tahanan Internasional memiliki hak-hak yang harus dipenuhi dan dijaga selama berada di dalam tahanan di bawah kekuasaan negara lain. Perlindungan ini tertuang dalam berbagai Konvensi, yaitu ; Konvensi Anti Penyiksaan (Convention Against Torture), Konvensi Internasional Hak-Hak Sipil dan Politik (International Convenant on Civil and Political Rights), Konvensi Aturan Minimum Standar Tentang Penanganan Tahanan, yang kesemuanya merupakan instrumen penting dalam Hukum Hak Asasi Manusia Internasional. Hasil Penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa, pertama telah banyak terjadi kasus pelanggaran HAM Internasional berupa penyiksaan fisik maupun non fisik, kedua bahwa bahwa bentuk-bentuk pelanggaran HAM terhadap tahanan yang dilakukan Amerika Serikat di penjara Guantanamo Kuba berupa; Random Punishment, Forced Nudity, Cultural Attacks, False Location, Load Music, Sleep Manipulation, Violence, Isolation, Water Boarding. Ketiga, bahwa faktor-faktor penyebab terjadinya pelanggaran HAM di penjara Guantanamo Kuba yaitu; karena diberlakukannya teknik interogasi yang penuh penyiksaan, dan dikarenakan Penjara Guantanamo Kuba sendiri keluar dari wewenang pengadilan Amerika Serikat dan dengan sendirinya tidak mengikuti aturan pengadilan Amerika Serikat. The aim of this article is to compare The Magdalene Sisters and Rabbit Proof Fence, two films released in 2002, which exemplify a multicultural world that will be explained through postcolonial theory. These films will give voice to those who were silenced because they were différents in a Derridean way and due to their incongruence with what is supposedly desirable. The films will show, through their plots, that patriarchy has prevented women from speaking up as it has ostracised them and confined them to spaces where they have been unable to become free. We will also deal with the negative influence of the Christian Church and its insistence on an ideal of feminine purity. The films show this expectation both through their plots and artistic devices: music, spaces, shots and colours will show the arbitrariness of their unique point of view. ; El objetivo de este artículo es comparar The Magdalene Sisters y Rabbit Proof Fence, dos películas estrenadas en 2002, producto de un mundo polifónico que trataremos de explicar a través de la teoría postcolonial, y que dará voz y diferenciará a aquellos que fueron silenciados por ser différents a la manera derridiana y no encajar en el paradigma de representación de lo deseable. Conflictive paradoxes that emerges from the Eurovision Song Contest since his creation (1956), shaped annually, generating a sort of identity fiction that was recently worked from feminisms or queer theory perspectives in Anglo-Saxon sphere. This way, this essay is granted as a bet into politics — ical-aesthetics of which apparently innocuous, anachronist, even kitsch, Song Contest because in "the act of point country-performance" it creates a key representation dilemma in order to maintain the cultural complexities of our time through television. Hence, the two main lines of this paper: First, pushing light into the risking interest of European margin countries during last years in a Contest at the drinking only "Europeistic", with all Complexities derived from race, language, Diaspora. Second, the presence of drinking body (androgynous, lesbian, gay, transsex- ual, transgender, queer.) repressing and, at the same time, Deconstructing nation idea as a glorious body, and with Butler, waterproof, opting a place for an identity multiplicity that makes unique this TV live show combining music, geopolitics and competition in Pan-Europe but broaded in all over the World. This paper will explore illustrative response to urban landscapes, their meaning determined by human use and illustration's role in reconfiguring this by presenting alternative representations. It is based on and will show parts of a research-led project on the decline of the public house in the UK, which takes the form of visual essays projected with the live performance of a 'concept album' on this theme (not prog!). This presentation will examine the relationship between illustration, subject matter and companion piece (music) and by doing so will employ theoretical perspectives concerned with 'open works' and nostalgia in order to articulate the contribution to the project made by the projections. The practice discussed operates as informed voice within the conversation, regularly offering a counterpoint to create illustration that welcomes critical thinking in response to the diverse perspectives presented. This is made painfully relevant to recent European political events through the discussion of the role of nostalgia in relation to the dominant representations of the pub in circulation. And this renforces the need for informed illustration to help us question, understand and contribute to the post-Brexit, post-factual world we live in. The process of working through the project will also be scrutinised, for it contributes to the discussion of the role of research for practice and its status as "little r" research by Scrivener (2010). By outlining the articulation of perspectives and counterarguments through illustration in the project overview, the argument will be made for a less fixed categorisation of research on, in, and for practice as outlined by Borgdorff (2010). The paper will conclude by making the case that illustration fuelled by sound research for practice is then able to offer new apprehensions of its subject matter back to the world it belongs within. Which is the point, really.

Nowadays, this factorization is being used in many science fields; in some of these fields, real-time computation of the NNMF is required. In some scenarios, all data is not initially available and when new data (as new rows or columns) becomes available the NNMF must be recomputed. Recomputing the whole factorization every time is very costly and not suitable for real time applications. In this paper we propose several algorithms to update the NNMF factorization taking advantage of the previously computed factorizations, with similar error and lower computational cost. © 2016 Elsevier B.V. The problem of forming of socio-cultural worldview in the system of medieval thought is analyzed in the article. The author focuses that each world characterized and described in philosophy, has not always existed, and is created by social activity, culture and creativity of philosophers. In their productive activity which has natural cycles, existing knowledge about the phenomena of life (gods, the being of heroes, spirit and soul, music, nature, economy, etc.) get new sound using rules, regulations and categories. They belong not just to observed phenomena but, on the one hand, to designed, constructed ideal objects, andon the other – to new reality (ideas, logos, being, everything which exists). The new reality is consciously set in parameters of the new thinking. As a result, the world becomes structured, being thought anew. It consists of forms created by thinking of social life, each of which is characterized in the context of the relevant science and philosophy. This situation author considers through the example of the age of theocentric philosophy, through the analysis of medieval cycle of thinking. It is qualitatively different from the ancient cycle of thinking. The transformation of thinking usually starts with changing of social, economic, political and cultural spheres of reality and with the formulation of new problems that arise during the solution of previous ones. But the essence of the transition to the new cycle is caused primarily by systemic crisis, through which every culture runs. The analysis of the relationship of Christian values of medieval life shows their relationship with socio-political and cultural reality. Thanks to Christianity, in the Middle Ages conversion of the reality takes place. It is built in terms of life through allegorical interpretation of events of being according to schemes of divine worldview, which shows the eternal tragedy of Christ as man and as God. Electronic waste, also referred to as "e-waste," is all waste made from electronic products such as computers, mobile phones, digital music players, refrigerators, washing machines, and TV's (Pinto, 2008). There is e-waste produced in the manufacturing process as well as the final disposal of the product. Although developed countries consume most electronics, it is increasingly common for countries that are still developing to possess electronic goods (Larrdis, 2011). Use of technology and connection to worldwide networking is a huge step for the progress of these countries, but having gained a "part" of the developed world without the associated infrastructure to responsibly handle it is quite dangerous. India is currently one of the top developing countries in the production of electronics, which has been a growing field for them since the 1990's. Since the technological boom, India has seen a growing middle class and increase in jobs in IT research and engineering (Carroll, 2014). Although this market is very profitable for India, it comes at a substantial, and often hidden cost: e-waste. India produced about 800,00 tons of e-waste in the year 2012 (Borromeo, 2013), which was more than double what it was in 2008 (Pinto, 2008). Most e-waste is produced in West and South India while most recycling centers are in northern India (Pinto, 2008). The main sources of e-waste are government, public, and private industrial sectors, which account for 70% of the waste, while households account for 15%. Three billion electronic devices and electrical appliances became e-waste in 2010, weighing an estimated 20-50 million tons, comprising about 5% of all municipal solid waste. Televisions and computers take up a majority of the volume, and many of the substances that are in computers can be toxic and carcinogenic if not handled properly. This handling of e-waste poses serious health and environmental issues for the people of India.

Digital inheritance laws relating to mobile applications are largely unsettled as courts and legislatures grapple with how to treat new types of digital property. As developers of mobile applications pass away, many revenue-producing applications may become ownerless, which would remove the benefit to both developers' heirs and to the public user base. Moreover, successors with motives and skills not aligned with those of the original developers may prove to be harmful to the financial viability and character of an otherwise profitable app. Currently, successors view profitable mobile applications left by deceased developers as meal tickets and nothing more. This can lead to the deterioration of an otherwise useful mobile application. In order to protect the intellectual property rights of developers, as well as preserve economic benefit for both individual developers and their users, courts should not allow digital inheritance of mobile applications. Most commentators on digital inheritance analyze digital assets like online music libraries, which are obtained but not created by an individual. Mobile applications present a different type of digital property that requires developers to exercise independent, original creation, which results in a product that is then obtained by other users. For this reason, developers' rights should be respected in the same way as authors of other original works. This note argues that in order to encourage developers to legitimately transfer ownership of a mobile application to a valid successor, courts should disallow for the inheritance of mobile applications in intestate scenarios. By denying access to potential successors, courts can signal to developers to protect their valuable assets after death. For developers who fail to include mobile applications in their estate, the worst case scenario is that a mobile application becomes obsolete. Jones, Barry Owen (1932– ). Australian politician, writer and lawyer, born in Geelong. Educated at Melbourne University, he was a public servant, high school teacher, television and radio performer, university lecturer and lawyer before serving as a Labor MP in the Victorian Parliament 1972-77 and the Australian House of Representatives 1977-98. He took a leading role in reviving the Australian film industry, abolishing the death penalty in Australia, and was the first politician to raise public awareness of global warming, the 'post-industrial' society, the IT revolution, biotechnology, the rise of 'the Third Age' and the need to preserve Antarctica as a wilderness. In the Hawke Government, he was Minister for Science 1983-90, Prices and Consumer Affairs 1987, Small Business 1987-90 and Customs 1988-90. His autobiography, A Thinking Reed, was published in 2006 and The Shock of Recognition, about music and literature, in 2016. In 2014 he received an AC for services 'as a leading intellectual in Australian public life'.
