The aim of this research is to identify and analyse the ubiquitous learning acquired though blending education settings devoted to the 'lifelong training of trainers' and how these contribute to the development of a conscious, critic and engaged citizenship. Through active exploration of the learning process, the study analyses the 'soft skills" acquired which enhance performance in work and daily life, with the purpose of detecting the process of ubiquitous learning often overlooked in formal education. To this end, the study case presented here draws upon a data triangulation of qualitative and quantitative multisource information (questionnaires, interviews, participant observation, discussion groups, individual and collective diaries) which includes the study of the semantic networks consisting of learners' own utterances. The results obtained indicate that the soft skills related to the capacity of selfdevelopment, the use of innovative resources, the enhancement of social cooperation, the ability to meet cognitive and social challenges, and the functional learning as produced though expanded learning, have the potential to pave the way for the empowerment of peoples, communities and social movements. But this form of expanded learning, as open, collaborative, democratic and committed learning, must be actively supported if future generations are not only to be consumers but also cooperative producers in a socially shared world.

Educational research has shown that the experiences that seek the democratization of the school organization and the generation of collaborative links inside and outside the school, favor the achievement of educational purposes. From this perspective, a group of education professionals set out to develop an educational experience that would articulate the efforts of the university, organized civil society, the public school and the community that hosts it, in order to build a project aimed at improving processes in a primary school; likewise, reflect on the concept of an communities that educate, which is inspired and nurtured by the theoretical and experiential work developed around the concepts of learning communities and educating cities. This communication shows the first steps in the formation of this community and the development of a participatory diagnosis, using the techniques of a research workshop and discussion groups, in addition to the problem analysis tool, within the framework of a participatory action research project with a qualitative approach. The exercise made it possible to identify a matrix of problems and establish priority actions to draw a work route. In this regard, the group agreed to study and influence the school-community linkage processes as a starting point. This collaborative effort made it possible to identify the potential of participatory experiences, in addition to the recovery of learning for the continuity of the experience.
In the publications of Freire's trip, errors are detected that makes invisible both its impact and those who made it possible. An analysis of the documentation, 6 interviews with people who made the trip possible, 6 with professionals and 2 with family members in Valencia who are transforming their schools and 2 dialogical observations have been carried out. The results make it clear: 1) Those who proposed this trip both to Freire and to the Regional Ministry are Flecha and Jesús Gomez "Pato". 2) The reason is the approval by the Valencian Parliament of the Law on Adult Education, whose "Report and draft for its preliminary project" had been entrusted to Flecha, who was hired to elaborate it. 3) Some publications ignore both facts, distorting the meaning of this journey and Freire's work. 4) The impact has been more profound in their infant, primary and secondary education and more transient in their adult education. 5) The values shared by Valencian education means that more and more people are demanding that we overcome these distortions and give deserved recognition to those who allowed us to have Paulo here.
The main objective of this article was to identify the characteristics of a school that effectively becomes a learning organization and the need to improve it in the political context of the learning organization. To reveal the theoretical and empirical bases of the article, methods of analysis, synthesis, quantitative research and results processing were applied. The results presuppose that school administration, peer support and favorable infrastructure have a positive impact on the development of personal skills of community members. In this sense, the improvement of learning competence and innovation is identified with openness to the environment, to other communities and a high level of internal communication culture. It is concluded that, schools as fundamental learning organizations to identify themselves and their environment as a team, to develop an intuitive systematic sense (part of the system; we-system), need to drive a clear and effective communication structure, in coherence with the strategic and systemic processes of adequate response to the needs of the community, all of which legitimizes it with social approval and more internal and external supports.
This article provides a critical assessment of the concepts of situated learning and community of practice proposed by Jean Lave and Etienne Wenger. We examine both concepts and argue for historical reflexivity as a way to reveal their origin and look at them at elaborations of the cultural-historical approach. After acknowledging the role both concepts played in overcoming individualized models of learning and in the development of a conception of learning as a social activity, we discuss some critiques and argue that this conception is a narrow one in the context of current cultural and historical transformations. These transformations, linked to social, political and economic forces related to globalization and new technologies of information and communication, have enable the development of new concepts, like Yrjö Engeström's expanded learning. We discusse this concept and present it as a great challenge for cultural-historical research in organizational/institutional settings. ; Learning communities are trying to democratize both educational processes and outcomes. Interactive groups deal with this democratic practice by means of avoiding segregation in classrooms. Relatives' training makes possible the access of families to schools, so that they can contribute to improve their children's way of learning. Joint committees take part in the democratic management of primary and secondary schools. Teachers' intellectual and scientific background succeeds in having democracy to provide better results, which favours their implication in this process by means of the implementation of an active support to students' families and society in general. Learning communities take part and learn from other ways of turning schools into democratic places such us, for example, the Atlantis Project.
Gender violence is a reality in educational centers of which there is not many data. On the other hand the existing cases are frequently hidden behind general conflicts or bullying. In order to act on this problem, this article is based on two research projects funded by the Catalan Government and the transformational project of Learning Communities to present the community model of conflict resolution. This model is based on the participation of all the community, establishing common norms and egalitarian dialog among other elements.
Most of the urban dwellers live in communities that, while composed of buildings that range from simple shacks to permanent structures, belong to an urban geography that is literally "off the map": undocumented, illegal, mobile, ephemeral, and generally beyond the reach of government services and infrastructure. Lacking even an agreed-upon descriptive term- they are variously referred to as slums, informal settlements, shantytowns, or unplanned cities – they are often seen as nothing but undifferentiated pockets of misery, wracked by poverty, crime and unsanitary conditions: in other words, an unfortunate but inevitable waste product of the uncontrolled urban growth that characterizes our time. This view is as unfortunate as it is misguided. While undeniably precarious in construction, informal cities exhibit underlying urban and architectural patterns of remarkable resilience, and that moreover reflect their inhabitants' enduring cultural values. Built without the assistance of architects and/or planners, they are folkloric expressions of a given people worthy of study. To date, the informal city has largely been described in social, political and economic terms. Very little scholarship has been devoted to the study of these cities as works of architecture; and questions of representation- or how to map and record these sites- seem to be missing from the debate. While it is undeniable that Architecture represents only one aspect of a more complex reality; we believe that it the ultimate and verifiable expression of any given reality. To this end, the paper will present the work of the studio entitled: Off the Map: Learning from the Informal City. The group initially visited the 'Las Flores' informal settlement in Barranquilla, Colombia to learn from its existing landscape and see firsthand how it works. Students were asked to look nonjudgmentally at this environment by studying, mapping, and documenting its existing conditions.
; Abstract: This work presents a research study designed to analyse the development of power relations in a virtual world, known as Habbo Hotel, aimed at the child and teenage market. What motivated this work was the desire to under - stand how this company wielded its power through the different agents responsible for taking decisions on the behaviour of the users within this virtual world. Simultaneously, this research went deeply into the type of lessons learnt by users as to citizenship springing from the behaviour rules imposed by the company owning this space. In order to understand what young people were learning about the wielding of power, and the prototype model citizen within the virtual world, we analyse the systems of rules that govern what users can or cannot do, and we proceed to analyse the contents of spaces in which users will talk about the reasons why the company had expelled them from Habbo Hotel. The findings of this work reveal that the application of rules on the part of the company results in the experience inside this virtual world not always being fun, democratic, creative, participative or completely satisfying. This thus questions some of the main arguments proposed by different writers on these new forms of communication.

; An "anthropological mutation" has been carried out by the pervasive presence of ICT and digital media in social and cultural processes. Development projects have changed from a technical and top-down vision to an integrated view pursuing economic, social and environmental sustainability. In this context, planning and management models with bottom-up approaches arise, as the Working With People (WWP) model, that emphasizes on the participation and social learning, also incorporating a holistic approach stemming from its three types of component: ethical-social, technical-entrepreneurial and political-contextual. The model is applied in a rural development project, managed by an Aymara women's organization in Puno, Peru. The WWP model is considered as a useful vehicle for promoting leadership and capacity building in technical, behavioral and contextual project management skills, so that women may become protagonists of their own development, thereby transforming their craft activities into successful and sustainable businesses.
The aim of this research is to identify and analyse the ubiquitous learning acquired though blending education settings devoted to the "lifelong training of trainers" and how these contribute to the development of a conscious, critic and engaged citizenship.
