The subject of the research problem addressed in the article concerns the importance of institutional and legal (or, more broadly, political) factors of energy transition in the European Union. Following Aleh Cherp and his team, political factors are understood as state objectives, political interests and institutional capabilities and factors of other types. All of them, as a whole, enter into a relationship with other factors, such as socio-technical and techno-economic ones. Referring to F. W. Geels, the European Union can be defined as a kind of socio-technical regime (energy regime), responsive to internal or external threats or adverse events. The main purpose of the analysis is to present the relationship between the institutional and legal, socio-technical, and techno-economic factors. In order to specify the research problem, the research question has been posed of the extent to which institutional and legal factors affect energy transition in the European Union. To answer this question, the analysis relies on the theoretical aspects of energy transition studies, the institutional and legal approach and secondary statistical data.

One of the critical issues facing the US correctional system is recidivism among male offenders. Although some studies suggest a link between post-incarceration unemployment and crime, others have taken a contrary theoretical approach and consider unemployment to be a major risk factor. To address the unemploymen-crime relationship, this article examines the following: rates of incarceration; cultural factors and social pathologies; factors in prison affecting inmates' ability to gain employment skills; post-prison factors such as stigma, employers' concerns toward hiring ex-offenders, and legal barriers restricting the employment of ex-offenders.

"The need for freedoms of navigation in regional waters is frequently mentioned in statements from regional forums, but a common understanding of what this constitutes a particular freedom of navigation or the relevant law is lacking. This book discusses how law, politics and strategy intersect to provide different perspectives of freedoms on navigation in the Asia-Pacific region. These freedoms are very important in this distinctively maritime region, but problems arise over interpreting the navigational regimes under the law of the sea, especially with regard to the rights of foreign warships to transit another country's territorial sea without prior notification or authorisation of the coastal state, and with determining the availability of high seas freedoms of navigation and overflight in an exclusive economic zone. The book explores these issues, referring in particular to the position of the main protagonists on these issues in Asian waters - the United States and China - with their strongly opposing views. The book concludes with a discussion of the prospects for either resolving these different perspectives or for developing confidence-building measures that would reduce the risks of maritime incidents. Providing a comprehensive yet concise overview of the various different factors affecting freedom of navigation, this book will be a valuable resource for those working or studying in the fields of international relations, maritime security and the law of the sea"--
