Di akhir tahun 2019, Dunia digemparkan dengan adanya Coronavirus Disease 2019 (Covid-19). Hingga saat ini Covid-19 telah menjadi masalah dunia internasional dan memberikan implikasi terhadap ekonomi, sosial, dan politik hampir diseluruh negara, termasuk di Indonesia. Di Indonesia sendiri dampak ekonomi akibat pandemi Covid-19 juga dirasakan sektor UMKM. Salah satu UMKM yang terkena dampak pandemi adalah UMKM penjual makanan di Desa Lesanpuro, Kecamatan Kedungkandang, Malang yang selama pandemi mengalami penurunan penjualan dan pendapatan. Untuk meningkatkan penjualan dan pendapatan, kami membantu dengan memberikan sosialisasi, edukasi dan pendampingan pengembangan inovasi produk dan pemanfaatan media digital untuk pemasaran produk. Pada tahap pertama kami melakukan sosialisasi yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan area pemasaran dengan mengenalkan digital marketing kepada pemilik UMKM supaya digital marketing tersebut dapat digunakan sebagai sarana untuk memasarkan produk yang lebih luas jangkauannya sehingga diharapkan bisa mendapatkan penghasilan yang lebih banyak. Pada tahapan yang terakhir kami juga mengedukasi tentang pentingnya menciptakan inovasi produk kreatif agar UMKM tersebut memiliki ciri khas yang dapat dengan mudah dikenal konsumen sehingga dapat menarik minat konsumen. Tahap terakhir kami melakukan pendampingan inovasi produk baik dari segi isi produk, nama produk, kemasan, dan logo usaha. Diharapkan dengan adanya kegiatan ini dapat membantu UMKM tersebut agar bisa meningkatkan pendapatannya dan bisa bertahan di tengah pandemi Covid-19.

Occasionally some laws are enacted without proper deliberation and comprehensive understanding of the issue in focus. The same can be said about The Waqf Property Act 2020 which was passed in Islamabad and all the provinces of Pakistan in September 2020 in which some new laws were made and some previous laws were amended. The Rules regarding Awqāf Act were disseminated across all the provinces and advertised on national media. Having explained the rules of the Act, some guardians of the Waqf properties were also issued notices. However, the Waqf Property Act has received a social backlash from ulamas, the political fraternity & the public. It is said that the Act is not only against the Islamic law but is also against the Constitution of Pakistan. Keeping this scenario in view the aim of this paper was set to discuss the violation of the Constitution that has occurred in the enactment of this law. For this purpose the original text of the Waqf Property Act 2020 along with certified references have been analyzed so that the gaps in the focused law are fully identified. Nation states often end up adopting practices that are incongruent with their formal commitments to international efforts, such as mitigation of climate change. Although the necessity of a transfer towards carbon-neutral societies is widely understood, such decoupling is a challenge to transition. This study analyses the political discourse in the Finnish media from 2017 to 2018 around the European Union's Land Use, Land Use Change and Forestry (LULUCF) Regulation. The discourse embodies a contradiction, as the Finnish government sought to justify its aim to log a record amount of forest while officially pledging to climate change mitigation. The forest industry and the government launched a major lobbying campaign to influence the regulation calculations to be adopted by the European Union. Several representatives of the scientific community rose to oppose the government's plan of action by distributing scientific knowledge on the negative climate effects caused by extensive forestry; a vigorous public debate around the correct ways to use this natural resource ensued. Our analysis identifies three prevailing narratives, each portraying and resolving the contradiction in a distinct way. We argue that narratives work as tools of epistemic governance and demonstrate how policy actors selectively weave scientific knowledge into such narratives. ; publishedVersion ; Peer reviewed

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui Bagaimana Indeks Kemerdekaan Pers di Sumatera Selatan Tahun 2021. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah menggunakan purposive survei. Survei ini dilakukan terhadap kelompok ahli dibidang media/pers sebanyak 10 orang informan ahli. Hasil analisis daripenelitian ini Secara umum, Indeks Kemerdekaan Pers (IKP) 2021 Provinsi Sumatera Selatan berada dalam kategori "Cukup Bebas" dengan nilai 81,03. Nilainya meningkat 1,88 poin dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya, yakni 79,15. Tren nilai IKP Provinsi Sumatera Selatan meningkat dimulai sejak tahun 2020. Ketika itu peningkatannya mencapai 5,05 poin dibandingkan tahun 2019. Sejak 2018, IKP Provinsi Sumatera Selatan selalu berada dalam kategori "Cukup Bebas" ada dua kondisi yang nilainya meningkat dibandingkan tahun sebelumnya. Yakni, nilai Lingkungan Fisik dan Politik (3,73 poin) berada dalam kategori "Cukup Bebas" dengan nilai 82,69. dibandingkan tahun lalu, yakni 78,97. Kondisi Lingkungan Ekonomi pada IKP 2021 Provinsi Sumatera Selatan berada dalam kategori "Cukup Bebas" dengan nilai 80,09. Nilainya meningkat 0,95 poin dibandingkan tahun 2020, yakni 79,14. Tahun lalu, Lingkungan Ekonomi mengalami peningkatan nilai cukup signifikan hingga 7,70 poin. Kondisi Lingkungan Hukum IKP 2021 Provinsi Sumatera Selatan kembali berada dalam kategori "Cukup Bebas" dengan nilai 78,56. Namun, nilainya menurun 0,82 poin dibandingkan tahun 2020, yakni 79,37. We are now surrounded by information from television, the internet, and digital media. Multimedia connects us to diverse languages and civilizations. The usage of a variety of forms of multimedia has a number of advantages for foreign language acquisition. The purpose of this study was to determine the extent to which using television programs and subtitled television shows as semi-contextualized strategies aids vocabulary retention during language acquisition. This research was performed at a Turkish government university. The teacher divided the classes into two experimental groups ranging in age from 18-20. The research began with the administration of a pretest. Then, the newly concentrated terms were taught using two distinct teaching techniques: decontextualized and semi-contextualized instruction. The study was conducted during a semester in 14 sessions. After teaching the new terms using the two strategies, an instant post-test was conducted at the end of sessions. A delayed post-test was conducted three sessions later. Following that, the participants' scores were statistically examined. The study's findings indicated that there were no significant differences in vocabulary teaching strategies between semi-contextualized (TV program) and decontextualized (board monitoring). It should be emphasized that the researchers, as English teacher, anticipated differences between two strategies (preference for semi-contextualized technique) based on their own teaching experience.

The pandemic has intensified issues faced by the journalism community in Malaysia. This study is an attempt to help the media industries upskill themselves in terms of the written discourse. This study describes the rhetorical structures in Malaysian newspaper reports, namely The Star, in terms of the rhetorical moves and steps by using the genre theory, corpus-based discourse analysis and corpus analysis. MyCORONAS (Malaysian Corpus of Online Newspaper Articles) corpus of 90 selected news reports consisting of crime news (TSC), environmental news (TSE) and political news (TSP) was compiled and analysed quantitatively and qualitatively to identify the frequency, functions, and patterns of rhetorical moves. The findings identified a nine-move structure for the newspaper reports. The nine-move structure consists of five optional moves and four obligatory moves. Variations in the use of the steps were observed within the sub-genres. Additionally, based on the functions of the moves, it was found that the newspaper report is a hybrid genre with various communicative functions. Based on the patterns of move distribution, the dispersion value shows that the moves are tightly clustered. To conclude, the findings of this study will heighten the awareness of ESP learners on the importance of using appropriate rhetorical moves to write a newspaper report which will help the journalism industries reform themselves during the pandemic.

Many surveys show that the level of public trust in the Indonesian parliament (DPR) often occupies the lowest position compared to other government institutions. This study aims the efforts of the PR Bureau of the DPR in organizing the Parlemen Remaja (the Youth Parliament) program as an attempt to improve public trust and reputation through political education for the younger generation, to understand better the reputation management and relationship management mechanisms applied by PR Bureau of the DPR. The research method using an evaluation was carried out using the reputation management theory and relationships management theory of political public relations. Data collection techniques were carried out through literature study and in-depth interviews. The findings indicate that the Youth Parliament program is considered helpful in increasing student interest in politics, providing opportunities to interact with the community, and can improve their perception of the DPR. Moreover, the students can be used as brand ambassadors for the DPR by endorsing the Indonesian parliament on social media and doing word of mouth in their social milieu. It can be concluded that the program is fruitful in increasing positive perceptions and bridging the relationship between the DPR and its key stakeholders, but it is not significant enough to increase public trust and the institution's reputation.

The concept of 'transnational family' coalesced in the context of neo-liberal globalisation during the late 1990s and 2000s. This article traces the social, economic and political forces that hove influenced the spread of transnational families throughout the world during the 21st century. Meanwhile, the digital revolution in social media communication and cheapening international travel costs has facilitated transnational family members communication with one another. Examining material exchanges between transnational family members in sending and receiving countries, childcare support for migrants' left-behind children provided by home-based family members has been a critical enabler of women's out-migration. In turn, migrants' remittance payments have been a basic lifeline or a source of improved standards of living for family members in sending countries. Overtime, global neo-liberal policies have generated the context for the expansion of transnational family migration through promotion of international travel and Internet communication. However, neo-liberalism has inadvertently paved the way for the growth of national precariots and one-state populism resting on segments of Western notional populations' resentment of international migration. Collapsing neo-liberalism as well as the intensification of global warming and the onset of the COVID pandemic are likely to influence the future of global migration and transnational familyhood in, as yet, indeterminont ways.

Against the background of the growing use of machine learning (ML) based technologies by the military, our article calls for an analytical perspective on ML platforms to understand how ML proliferates across the military and to what effects. Adopting a material–technical perspective on platforms as developed within new media studies, and bringing this literature to critical security studies, we suggest that a focus on platforms and the technical work they do is needed to understand how digital technologies are emerging and shaping security practices. Through a detailed study of Google's open-source ML platform TensorFlow and a discussion of the US Department of Defense Algorithmic Warfare Cross-Functional Team, or Project Maven, we make two broader contributions. First, we identify a broader "platformization" of the military, with which we refer to the growing involvement and permeation of the (technomaterial) ML platform as the infrastructure that enables new practices of decentralized and experimental algorithm development across the military. Second, we draw out how this platformization is accompanied by new entanglements between the military and actors in the corporate domain, especially Big Tech, which play a key role in this context, as well as the open-source community that is organized around these platforms.

Introduction: COVID- 19 hit 2020 as one of the worst pandemics which happens over 100 years. Like another world it affected Pakistan too. Objectives: The main objective of the study is to measure the COVID-19 related anxiety and obsession by using anxiety scale among local population of Pakistan. Methodology of the study: This was a cross-sectional, observational study carried out in Pakistan. An online semi-structured questionnaire was developed by using Google forms, with a consent form appended to it. The link of the questionnaire was sent through e-mails, Whats App and other social media to the contacts of the investigators. The participants were encouraged to roll out the survey to as many people as possible. Results: Results of the online as well as Performa based survey showed that 1108 participants consented and filled forms Mean age of the responders was 29.5±10 with 766 (69.1%) of young age,317(28.6%) were of middle age and 25(2.3%) were of old age groups. Female responders more 646(58.3%) than male responders i.e. 462 (41.7%). Conclusion: There is satisfactory knowledge of COVID 19 and practicing preventive measures in Pakistani population but they have very less faith on government and health care and they believe every rumor spread around. In short Many current challenges, such as overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic, migration, or climate change, require political action that goes beyond the national level and requires broad public legitimacy. If the values that underpin the policy-making process do not match the values and attitudes that prevail in society, the rules are not followed, or people express their dissatisfaction in protest. On highly polarizing issues, when political decisions involve choosing in favour of one side or another, it is almost impossible for policymakers to base their decisions on the conflicting attitudes and values of the entire population. In a democratic society, the key to this challenge is transparency and openness in the decision-making process. The different dimensions of values and attitudes that characterize a particular society should be considered when explaining the decisions made, facts and political decisions are not value neutral. Policy makers and the media and need to be careful about confronting different identity groups, as this exacerbates conflicts and makes decision-making more difficult. In the policy-making process, one way to avoid conflict and confrontation between two groups is to find another, unifying identity or unifying value that underpins the political message. In Latvia, one of the unifying values of society is the family and family relationships as a value.

The goal of this study was to simulate the impact of infant mortality and maternal death rates on the Nigerian population from 1980 to 2021. This study has five particular objectives that were created and used. Relevant related literatures were reviewed based on the factors in the objectives. This study was conducted using a cross-sectional research design. For this study, secondary data was taken from yearly records of Nigerian infant/maternal mortality rates and population from the World Development Indicators- World Bank Data – 2019 and World Bank, and the data was analyzed using a multiple regression model. MINITAB (version 20.0) and Microsoft Excel 2013 were used for all calculations. The series plot results for the variables that affected the Nigerian population show a downward trend across the plot, indicating a linear but negative link between the mortality variables and the Nigerian population. To determine the significant parameters, the Durbin method of estimating a multiple regression model was used; this found that all of the model's parameters were significant at 5%, which appears unbiased. It was discovered that Nigeria's population will continue to grow over the next six years, despite the effects of newborn and maternal mortality on the population. It was suggested that the government and community leaders use the media to inform, educate, and sensitize people about baby and maternal health.

Enabled by recent improvements in generation methodologies, DeepFakes have become mainstream due to their increasingly better visual quality, the increase in easy-to-use generation tools and the rapid dissemination through social media. This fact poses a severe threat to our societies with the potential to erode social cohesion and influence our democracies. To mitigate the threat, numerous DeepFake detection schemes have been introduced in the literature but very few provide a web service that can be used in the wild. In this paper, we introduce the MeVer DeepFake detection service, a web service detecting deep learning manipulations in images and video. We present the design and implementation of the proposed processing pipeline that involves a model ensemble scheme, and we endow the service with a model card for transparency. Experimental results show that our service performs robustly on the three benchmark datasets while being vulnerable to Adversarial Attacks. European integration has been progressing even as support for Eurosceptic parties has been rising. Post-functionalist literature focuses on how public attitudes affect the progress of European integration (bottom-up), but the mechanism through which European integration affects domestic politics (top-down) is underexplored. Extreme parties on either the left or right are known to adopt a Polity-Eurosceptic agenda in order to realign the main domestic political cleavage and turn themselves into the new mainstream. We aim to contribute to this literature by arguing that the timing and type of EU events matter. Specifically, the vote for such Eurosceptified Pariah Parties increase with integration events that have a potential for high media profile, signal reduced state autonomy, and occur in proximity to national elections. Furthermore, we argue that even if mainstream parties may counter Eurosceptified Pariah Parties' claims, the net effect is to ratchet-up electoral support for the latter. We support this argument by employing a mixed-method design using both a natural experiment approach (UESD for Spain's 1993 election) and a model-based approach (all parties in 1979–2017 and a new event database). Results are robust to the usual confounders, and the exclusion of different classes of events and opportunistically-timed elections.

BACKGROUND: COVID-19 emerged as a novel disease with global health importance. Personal and collective behaviours have been modified to prevent the spread of this pandemic. This study is aimed to assess the knowledge, attitude and risk perceptions of Nigerians towards COVID-19. METHOD: A cross-sectional survey was conducted between the 30th of April and 17th of May 2020 with a national representative among Nigerians using a combination of online and interviewer administered questionnaire. RESULTS: A total of 1,135 respondents participated in the study with a slight male preponderance (M: F=1.5:1). The mean age of the participants was 42±12.2 years with the majority (77%) between the ages of 26 and 55 years. The majority were aware of the pandemic, mostly through mass and social media. Most of the respondents demonstrated good knowledge of COVID-19 but the unaware minority (0.6%) were likewise uneducated. Educational status had no significant association with attitude towards hand washing and wearing of face mask (p>0.05). Risk perception was however low to moderate despite their concerns for COVID-19 and lack of trust in the governments' response to the disease. CONCLUSION: The risk perception of COVID-19 among the respondents is not encouraging, hence more advocacy and public orientation must be done to curb further spread of COVID-19 in our setting.
