; What is memory? Can it be influenced, and how? After reminding us of the complexity of the notion of memory, Marie-Clair Lavabre points out the interest of the distinction between collective memory, as initially conceptualized by the sociologist Maurice Halbwachs, and memory, as defined by the uses given to it by historians. It is possible to act upon memory—and this will is expressed with a particular force in the situations in which past hasn't past--, within certain limits and conditions.
The films about the recent past of Chile and Argentina bring questions that lead to the work hypothesis from inside the film and its relationship with the outside. Content that is explained from the context of the film: Is there agreement between the historic and sociologic theme that explained the fall of the military dictatorships and their transition to democracy, with the content of the audio visually told stories? Is the proposed construction of collective memory inclusive? Up to what point is the cinematographic cultural production a reflection of the dominant political processes? It is implicit within these questions a hypothesis: the films could be related to the dominant discourses that turn invisible and/or condemn the various forms of resistance.

Presents the various stages in the construction of the field of political memory and its potential for future research. Initially addresses Maurice Halbwachs, who thinks of memory as a sociological phenomenon of social cohesion. Then, it analyzes the political memory as a construct produced by the State in the formation of national identities. Discuss Pierre Nora and his proposal "places of memory" and Benedict Anderson´s concept of "imagined community". In a third stage deals with the transformations of the field of political memory as to the emergence of new actors and new types of media. It concludes with observations on political memory devices in rural communities in Colombia, raised in the article as forms of expression of the memories groundwater.

; [EN] History and memory are not equivalent terms, still less when they point a past marked by exclusion and injustice. Holocaust literature is an artistic expression, which in many ways sits outside the established understandings of literature and its purpose. The Holocaust itself was an event so unique in its complexities that it separated from other historic atrocities. The Holocaust is not just a historical event. It affected psychology, sociology, politics, innovation, medicine, engineering, ethics, morality, and artistic expressions. Throughout this essay, I will argue the case for Holocaust literature: what exactly is it, what unique challenges does it face as a genre, how it is evolving, and how best to read it. Authors in this genre have a great responsibility to present factual information through the use of prose. This is particularly of concern as survivors die and new voices emerge, whether they are the children of survivors or not. The telling of the many stories of the Holocaust can help us all become witnesses of a human tragedy that, although highly secretive and manipulative of language, emotions, and events, affected the entire world.

; «Memory and university» is one of the chapters of the doctoral thesis of Carlos Vallina. Aesthetic forms of communication performance, in particular in the audiovisual field, are a way of knowing reality. The purpose of this test is a cross of days, structural coincidence of communicating a variety of forms and timelines fractured by the action of history, memory, emotions and the need to process a field of knowledge that gives meaning to everything.
This is a discussion of the cultural roles that memory & forgetting play in society. The article argues that remembrance & oblivion are in constant social conflict. Thus, memory & forgetting are not exclusively individual phenomena, but are to be found in society as a whole. It was not well understood in the twentieth century that memory & forgetting are opposites of the same collective force. Indeed, societal forces guide collective memory even as language sustains it. In the opposite sense, censorship, oppression, & silence work against collective memory, resulting in social forgetfulness. Taken together, social memory & social forgetfulness can be said to provide a culture with its distinctive presences & absences. Thus, the relational stress between remembering & forgetting is one of the prime building blocks of society.
In May 2003 the twelfth edition of the «Aranguren Conferences» was held. Jorge Semprún gave three keynote speeches titled «Kant and the Maquis' rucksack», «The radical evil and the Buchenwald latrines» and «Literature and memory of the evil: from Sartre to Paul Ricoeur», all of them grouped under the generic denomination Memory of Evil. The thread running through the three speeches was Semprún's experience as a political deportee at Buchenwald concentration camp, so close to the Weimar camp of Schiller and Goethe. There, he could experience the radical evil, but also the brotherhood through the antifascist resistance groups who coordinated the various clandestine political groups at the camp. This experience helped him review some of the philosophical readings he had done as a philosphy student at the Sorbonne, as well as those readings he took an interest in following the end of the war. In this way, Semprún went over various authors (Immanuel Kant, André Malraux, Edmund Husserl, Jacques Maritain, Martin Heidegger, Karl Marx, Hannah Arendt, Jean Paul Sartre, Paul Ricoeur or Primo Levi) arguing their relationship with the issue of Evil.
