Hannah Arendt's philosophy mobilized in the face of disappointment at what the metaphysical tradition had categorized as "appearance". According to her, the philosophical discredit of appearing facilitated powerfully the devaluation of the common world and the consequent decline of the political. Thinking about "what we do", and thinking about it from its internal articulation, requires, then, a whole reformulation of ontology. For this reason, Arendt traced in his work not a thought locked in the limits of political science, but a whole phenomenology of politics based on an ontology of appearing.
Aristotle analyses politics with a set of theoretical principles meant tofashion political phenomena from a conceptual point of view. The aim ofthis paper is to consider the sense and function of these principles in the political text. We shall take as textual basis the opening definitions of the city-State in Pol. I 1-2 in order to shed light on the scientific performance of technical analytic tools such as "nature", "end", "unity", "matter/form" and "whole/parts". I 1-2.
The aim of this article is to offer some thoughts concerning Kant's contractualism. It analyzes two elements that are fundamental to every contractualism insofar as they determine the way the exeundum principle and the model of state thus derived are justified: (I) The notion of freedom that is ascribed to contracting agents, and (II) the conception of the practical interaction between them. In relation to (I), the article proposes (1) that the independence between Ethics and Right in Kant suggests that the concept of freedom will receive two different kinds of applications in each realm, and that this fact allows us to say that Kant's Doctrine of Right implies a political conception of autonomy. Concerning (II), we try to show that (2) Kant did not conceive the state of nature from an individualistic perspective, but in the terms of an interactive community.
This text analyses the conflicts between religious and non-religious citizens in the light of Habermas´ postmetaphysical perspective of the role of religion in the public sphere. As a backdrop we will present the recent debate over the "scientific concept" issued by a Professor of the Universidad de la Sabana, as part of the constitutional discussion about same - sex couples´ possibilities to adopt. I will begin by describing Habermas´ proposal of the role of religion in the public sphere. Then I will indicate what Habermas means by metaphysics in order to expound the roles that a postmetaphysical philosophy can have as well as the main elements of a postmetaphysical approach to religion. Finally, some conclusions will be presented.
This paper starts off asking whether a strictly political approach may be deduced based on Martin Heidegger' ontological analyses of modernity. His interpretation of the Greek phenomenon of the polis is discussed along with the distinction established therein between this form of community and the modern state, founded according to Heidegger on the metaphysical essence of modernity. To clarify this question regard is had to the proclamation of values observed by Heidegger in the different forms of state organization arising in the age of technical consummation of metaphysics. In this connection, his vision of nihilism is studied and a hypothesis is finally offered as to the form of state that would be consistent with a renunciation of the values required, in his view, by the manifestation of the entity in modernity as a wholly producible object.
The actual project intends to investigate some concepts present transversely to social philosophical and political philosophical discourse of the end of modernity and beginning contemporaneity and consolidate a united front against metaphysics. The ideas of reason, history, technology, constitute a core of the saga of philosophical theory but there is a shift in their applications so far of the end of the eighteenth century to the early twentieth century. While we propose three authors to see the changes (Adorno, Arendt, Feenberg) are not these that make innovation each use of the concepts involved, but other authors like Marx-Nietzsche in the nineteenth century and Wittgenstein-Heidegger in the twentieth century. The 'philosophy of suspicion' to modern metaphysics is continuity in contemporary philosophy polyphony ranging: the critical theory of Theodor W. Adorno, Hannah Arendt's political existentialism, the critical theory of technology of Andrew Feenberg. The general objective of the project is the visualization of conceptual changes in the concepts criticizes metaphysics, reason, history and technology, from the fields of knowledge involved, social and political philosophy, philosophy of history and philosophy of technology. A more specific objective is visualizing the difference between transitional uses and post idealists uses of reason, history and technology. The final conclusions involve a conceptual advance in the fields involved in the research: Arendt is the thinker who resists not least modern uses of selected theoretical axes. Another conceptual breakthrough is that Wittgenstein far exceeds the objective fulfilled under the project, reduced to the notion of use; his theory is spread in a critique of metaphysics linked to other expressions, world, language games and forms of life. A theoretical innovation we bring is a course that involves the kind of philosophy that makes possible the dialogue between traditions and different cognitive domains, an unfocused philosophy, overflowing beyond the borders that can establish a naive epistemology; and this philosophy outside its core or focus, interacts with the rest of the humanities on one hand and the social sciences on the other.
This article has been written from the epistemological need for making a reflection on the city and distinguishing the way power symbols are expressed and deployed in the city. The focus of this article is made on aesthetics and metaphysics of the city rather than on its urbanism. For this purpose, different aesthetic and semiotic factors have been related in an attempt to present a hypothesis on the symbolic form of the city, which is associated to the economic and political instruments that exercise power on the city. This research about the aesthetics of the metaphysical city allowed identifying the origin of the idea of city as both form and symbol, which becomes a social instrument that promotes perpetuation of power and has influence on the construction of social narration. This research further allowed approaching the dis-divinization phenomenon of the symbols that comprise the city and the function of such dis-divinized symbols within the structuring of a defined common narration, not for political or religious factors but for consumption, fragmentation, and preponderance of oblivion. Finally, the article proposes education as a pillar on which aesthetic and ethical factors lie, allowing having sense at the time of interacting with the city symbols.

Taking into account Heidegger´s thoughts we wonder about a meaning of life which gives us a wide comprehension of itself without reducing it to formal questions such as: love, power, knowledge, science, religion, arts and politics, among others. To achieve that, we need an hermeneutical approach designed by Heidegger as Dasein because it deals with entities which are not only there in the world but immerse in their obligation to be. This situation helps the Dasein to be open to the capacities of being. We leave open the questions about meaning and being for a further study.
The project explores the conceptual changes in terms of philosophical social and philosophical political discourse up to late nineteenth century and early twentieth century: 'reason', 'technology' and 'history'. Since then and by transformations of the same theory, and by transformations in the perception of philosophical problems, there was a shift in the scope of those terms. From an archaeological look we can relieve a no modern record of 'reason', 'technology' and 'history', beginning authors like Marx-Nietzsche, Wittgenstein-Heidegger. And then from a genealogical look, the research aims to record changes in those concepts, in some authors who share a postidealista and postmetaphysical common ground. In the critical theory of Theodor W. Adorno, in Hannah Arendt's political existentialism, in the critical theory of technology of Andrew Feenberg, there are concepts that nineteenth-century philosophy of suspicion. Clearly, these concepts or notions appear reformulated, redefined or placed in new scenarios. In this research, we propose then update the conceptual fields of knowledge involved in contemporarycritique of metaphysics: social and political philosophy, philosophy of history, philosophyof technology. Unamuno conceives the other life in its optimal form as a dynamism in Zubiri's sense. He has read in the Book of Job the view of life and death as a military conscription or as a contract for hard labor. Unamuno's short story «Juan Manso. Story of the Dead» (1892) rejects meekness and favors an existential «charging» before and after death. Unamuno's crisis of 1897 to 1902 makes him fear the nothingness and seek relief in a passing conversion to Liberal Protestantism. But when his insecurity returns, he converts his uncertainty of salvation into a point of departure for his tragic philosophy of religion. In four successive phases, he deepens his dynamic conception of eternal life: in Life of Our Lord Don Quixote, Treatise on Love of God, The Tragic Sense of Life, and The Agony of Christianity.
; This essay deals with the relationship between the forgetfulness of being and the hiding of the entity´s foundation –in the metaphysical level– and the authoritarianism –in the political level–, where phenomenological aspects concerning the incidence of military regimens on the Argentine intellectual decadence are analyzed. This work also examines the moral anomie and damage of language that have contributed to it. Both are apparent features of characterizing the Argentinian society in the present time of its historic development.
This text is an answer to Daniel Garber's article. In the reply, I challenge the idea that the dynamics is a parallel project, incompatible with the monadological project. To criticize this position, I present the importance of the conceptualization of action from Dynamica de potentia (1690) and its implications for the monadological metaphysics itself.
The project's central question is about conceptual changes in three terms of social and political philosophical discourse during the nineteenth century and up to the mid-twentieth century: 'reason', 'technique', 'change'. During this period, due to transformations in the same theory and in the perception of philosophical problems, there was a semantic shift in the scope of those terms. From an archaeological perspective we can explore a non-modern record of 'reason', 'technique', 'change', which authors such as Marx-Nietzsche, Wittgenstein-Heidegger begin. From a genealogical view, the research is oriented to register the variations in those concepts, in authors who share the same postmetaphysical and postidealist bases. In Max Horkheimer's critical theory of science and society, in Theodor W. Adorno´s negative critique, in Herbert Marcuse- Andrew Feenberg's critical theory of technology, there are concepts from the nineteenth-century philosophy of suspicion. Naturally, these concepts make their new appearance reformulated and placed in new cognitive fields. In this period of research we have managed: to compare the meaning of uses as it appears in Wittgenstein´s Tractatus with the meaning of uses as it becomes ostensible in the Philosophical Investigation; to understand the notion of technique and art in Marcuse´s analyses of social rationality; to interpret the concept of change in Aristotle and its effect on a social theory. Aristotle is a thinker who is assumed in the project since his knowledge is necessary for Heidegger's theory of modern technique and Feenberg´s critical theory of technology; to analyze the uses of technique in Horkheimer, Adorno and Feenberg, and to explain "the negative dialectic" of Theodor W. Adorno as it unfolds in his Aesthetic Theory, and the conceptual changes of technique and reason that are registered.
