The article is devoted to the study of the phenomenon of lexical-semantic interference of the English and French languages in the Middle Ages. The author indicates the relevance and significance of the research topic. A brief terminological analysis of the category «interference» is carried out, which results in the fact that at the lexical level and in the interlingual context, this phenomenon manifests itself as a result of a wide range of methods for formulating one concept in different languages, as a result of which a divergence in categories is noted. The author's interest in studying interference in the French and English languages in a diachronic aspect is due to the fact that the vocabulary of a language always reflects the history of its people. The emphasis on the problem of borrowing from French into English in the 10th–15th centuries was made due to the fact that significant historical and social events took place in the relationship between France and Britain, which could not but be reflected in the cultural and linguistic development of the latter. Focusing on the practice of language interference caused by historical and social factors, an analysis of historical events and prerequisites is carried out, as a result of which the results of the influence of the French language on English during the Middle Ages are clarified (using examples of professionalisms). Based on the results of the study and the independent selection of French equivalents for English words, the author concludes that lexical-semantic interference in this era manifested itself in the movement of similar lexical units into another language by modifying them according to the phonetic or graphic model of their language. As a rule, such a deviation from the language norm is the most frequent, since the transformation of words occurs according to the same principle as in the native language.

Статья посвящена религиозным традициям чеченцев, истоки которых находятся в глубокой древности и перекликаются с культами древнего населения Передней Азии. В работе отмечается определенная преемственность в духовной культуре племен Северного Кавказа, начиная с энеолита и заканчивая эпохой поздней бронзы и раннего железа. А позднесредневековая чеченская культура обнаруживает многочисленные параллели с последней, особенно на уровне символики, нанесенной, как на архитектурные сооружения, так и на бронзовые изделия.
В работе подробно анализируется языческий пантеон чеченцев и его трансформация под влиянием христианских идей, когда идея Единого Творца становится преобладающей, а все второстепенные божества низводятся на уровень святых и приобретают антропоморфные черты.
Культура, календарные циклы, символика несут в себе узнаваемые черты следов христианства, которое было распространено среди чеченцев в VIII-XVII вв. Важную роль в проповеди христианства в Чечне сыграла Грузия, как об этом свидетельствует использование средневековой грузинской письменности в горной Чечне. Однако отдельные эпиграфические находки подтверждают и деятельность византийских миссионеров на равнинной территории региона.
Ислам окончательно утверждается в Чечне в XVII в. С этого времени языческие и христианские черты в погребальных обрядах чеченцев, в их бытовой культуре, фольклоре постепенно исчезают или обретают другие формы.

The article is devoted to the reflection of folk stories in the Serbian historical literature of the Middle Ages.We focus on the reflection of folklore in the early historical monuments, historical vitae, and, in the first place, in the genealogies and annals of the late Middle Ages. These monuments had reflected the folk stories which were recorded by folklorists of modern age. Among them are the epic tales of Janko Sibinyanin and of the Battle of Kosovo.Our special attention was paid to the reflection of the epic tales of Kosovo cycle in the annals and genealogies of 15th -17th centuries. The two main components of the epic story of the battle were the feat of Milos Kobilic who killed Turkish sultan Murat, and the treason of Vuk Brankovic, the son-in-law of Serbian Prince Lazar' who was killed in the battle. The article shows that the notion of the late occurrence of stories about Milos the assassin has indeed been confirmed by a study of Serbian historical works. At the same time, Milos might have had a homonymous historical prototype — the Serb who allegedly had killed Sultan Musa after the Battle of Maritsa in 1413. A mention of this person in the Serbian Junior chronicle of the First type, basically going back to 1453, was replaced in the 16th century Niko'lski copy with the name of Milos as the assassin of Murat.The tale of Vuk Brankovic's treason was less popular in 16th and 17th century Serbian chronicles, which can be attributed to his status as the progenitor of the highly esteemed Brankovic dynasty. Political factors could have also affected the earlier silencing of the names of those who betrayed Lazar' in the Kosovo battle. In all early monuments they remain anonymous; the act of treason is, however, mentioned every time. The question thus remains open, and folklore mentions can be used in the search for potential solutions. ; Статья посвящена отражению фольклорных сюжетов в сербской исторической литературе Средневековья.Рассматриваются элементы фольклорного происхождения в ранних исторических памятниках, исторических житиях, в первую очередь в родословах и летописях позднего Средневековья. В этих памятниках отражаются уже те фольклорные сюжеты, которые зафиксированы и фольклористами Нового времени. Среди них — эпические сказания о Янке Сибинянине, о Косовской битве.Специально рассматриваются следы эпических сказаний Косовского цикла в летописях и родословах XV–XVII вв. Двумя основными компонентами эпической истории сражения стали подвиг Милоша Кобилича, убившего турецкого султана Мурата, и измена Вука Бранковича, зятя погибшего на Косове сербского князя Лазаря. В статье показано, что мнение о позднем возникновении предания о Милоше как убийце Мурата подтверждается исследованием сербских исторических сочинений. В то же время Милош мог иметь одноименного исторического прототипа — серба, предположительно убившего султана Мусу после битвы на Марице 1413 г. Упоминание об этом лице в Младшей сербской летописи Первого вида, в своей основе восходящей к 1453 г., в Никольском списке XVI в. прямо заменяется упоминанием Милоша как убийцы Мурата.Сказание об измене Вука Бранковича менее популярно в сербском летописании XVI–XVII вв., что можно связать с происхождением от Вука почитаемой династии Бранковичей. Но политические причины могли и ранее повлиять на замалчивание имен изменников Лазарю на Косове, которые остаются анонимными во всех ранних памятниках, тем не менее упоминающих об измене. В силу этого вопрос остается открытым, и фольклорные припоминания могут использоваться как один из источников его решения.

Рассматривая тему демократии в данной статье, мы пытаемся понять, как началось зарождение данного политического режима в обществе, как толковали это понятие философы Античного мира и Средневековья. Демократия - вековое начало, хорошо знакомое миру античности. Тем не менее, едва ли какое другое политическое понятие имеет столько значений и столько же толкований сколько имеет демократия. Исторический генезис данной категории длителен, многообразен и противоречив. Он не завершается и поныне. Ни одна политическая система в мире пока не воплощает в себе идеалы демократии, а представляет лишь результат развития многоступенчатого исторического процесса. Философы Античности и Средневековья внесли огромный вклад в то, что мы сейчас называем «демократией». ; Considering the theme of democracy in this article, we try to understand how the emergence of the political regime in the society, as they interpreted this notion of the philosophers of the ancient world and the middle ages. Democracy - age-old sat down to the well known world of antiquity. Nevertheless, hardly any other political concept has many meanings and many interpretations how has democracy. The historical Genesis of this category is long, diverse and contradictory. It is not completed today. No political system in the world yet does not embody the ideals of democracy, and is only the result of the development of a multi-stage historical process. The philosophers of antiquity and the middle ages made a huge contribution to what we now call «democracy».

Данный процесс тесно связан с централизацией власти, экономической и финансовой активностью внутри Европы, дополняемой дифференциацией обложения товаров. В работе приводятся переводы автора на русский язык Капитуляриев Карла Великого (805 г.) и Раффельштеттенского устава о пошлинах (около 905 г.) — документов, которые повлияли на становление современной таможенной политики. = The article is devoted to the historic documents on the formation of the customs legislation in the European continent in the period from IX to X century. This process is closely linked to the centralization of power, economic and financial activity within Europe, complemented by differentiation of taxation of goods. The article presents the author's translations into Russian chapter house of Charlemagne (805) and Raffelstetten statute on fees (about 905) — documents that influenced the formation of a modern customs policy.

The paper considers a funeral rite of the cemetery of the Saltovo-Mayaki culture in the Village of Chervonaya Gusarovka (Balakleiskii District of Kharkiv Region). 177 burials examined at the cemetery were carried out in accordance with the "zlivkinskii" kind funeral rite, peculiar for pro-Bulgarian population of the Saltovo-Mayaki culture. Anthropological analysis of skulls from the burials of the cemetery showed, that the population made it in the morphological sense was characterized with dolichocrania. This fact allows supposing predominance of the representatives of the Alanian ethnic component in the structure of the Chervonaya Gusarovka community. Position of the crossed arms on the breast or belly, presence of the symbol of the Christian faith (underwear crosses) in two burials allows drawing a conclusion, that the Chervonaya Gusarovka Cemetery is made by a group of the pro-Bulgarian population, being under the influence of the Christian faith. The presence of vessels produced by the Crimea semi-island habitants in 66 burials of the cemetery allows considering as the initial district of the population inhabitancy, made this necropolis, the territory of the Eastern Crimea, from which it was displaced into the basin of Severski Donets by the central government of the Khazarian Khaganate. ; В работе рассматривается погребальный обряд могильника салтово-маяцкой культуры у с. Червоная Гусаровка (Балаклейский район Харьковской области). Исследованные на могильнике 177 захоронения были совершены по погребальному обряду «зливкинского» типа, характерному для праболгарского населения салтово-маяцкой культуры. Антропологический анализ черепов из погребений могильника показал, что население, остатившее этот некрополь, в морфологическом плане характеризуется долихокранностью. Это позволяет предположить преобладание в составе червоно-гусаровкой общины представителей аланского этнического компонента. Скрещенное положение рук погребенных людей на животе или груди, присутствие в двух захоронениях символа христианской веры (нательных крестиков) позволяют сделать вывод, что могильник Червоная Гусаровка оставлен группой праболгарского населения, находящегося под влиянием христианской религии. Присутствие в 66 захоронениях могильника сосудов крымского производства позволяет видеть исходным районом проживания населения, оставившего данный некрополь, территорию Восточного Крыма, откуда оно было переселено в бассейн Северского Донца центральным правительством Хазарского каганата. ; У роботі розглядається поховальний обряд могильника Червона Гусарівка салтово-маяцької культури. Досліджені на могильнику 177 поховання здійснені за поховальним обрядом «зливкінського» типу. Це дозволяє допустити присутність у складі червоногусарівській общини значної кількості представників аланського етнічного компоненту Схрещене положення рук небіжчиків на животі або грудях, присутність в двох похованнях символів християнської віри (натільних хрестів) дозволяє зробити висновок, що могильник Червона Гусарівка був залишений групою праболгарського населення, що знаходилося під впливом християнської релігії. Присутність у 66 похованнях могильника посуду кримського виробництва дозволяє припустити, що населення, котре залишило цей некрополь, первісно мешкало у районах Східного Криму, звідки воно було переселено у басейн Сіверського Дінця центральною владою Хозарського каганату.

The medieval phenomenon of autocratic rule of the Slavic peoples, guided in their development by the experience of the Byzantine Empire, predetermined not only their ethnic, linguistic, but also spiritual and political community.South Slavic peoples (Serbs and Bulgarians) and Eastern Slavs (Russ) fell into the sphere of canonical civilizational influence of the Patriarchate of Constantinople and the state and legal heritage of the Second Rome.As a result of Christianization, the Slavic Orthodox powers accepted the Byzantine ideas of the symphony of authorities (secular and spiritual), enriching them with the beginnings of the class-council representation convened for the best lawmaking.The article also notes that in medieval Serbia, Bosnia and Bulgaria conciliar representation was exclusively of aristocratic character.In Moscow (Great Russian) centralized state, on the contrary, members of the Zemsky Sobor, along with the boyars and clergy were the townspeople, and even peasants.The present work represents an original perspective on the variety of the tsarist autocracy, among which the author considers the congregational-patrimonial (monarch-boyars) and the zemsko-cathedral (Great Russian) ones.DOI 10.14258/izvasu(2018)3-04 ; Средневековый феномен самодержавной формы правления славянских народов, ориентирующихся в своем развитии на опыт Византийской империи, предопределил не только их этническую, языковую, но и духовно-политическую общность.Южнославянские народы (сербы и болгары) и восточные славяне (русы) попали в сферу канонического цивилизационного влияния константинопольского патриархата и государственно-правового наследия Второго Рима.Вследствие христианизации славянские православные державы восприняли византийские идеи симфонии властей (светской и духовной), обогатив их началами сословно-соборного представительства, созываемого для наилучшего законотворчества.Особо отмечается, что в средневековых Сербии, Боснии и Болгарии соборное представительство носило исключительно аристократический характер.В Московском (великорусском) централизованном государстве, наоборот, участниками земских соборов наряду с боярством и духовенством являлись посадские люди и даже крестьянство.Настоящая работа представляет собой оригинальный взгляд на разновидности царского самодержавия, среди которых автор рассматривает соборновотчинное (монархо-боярское) и земско-соборное (великорусское).DOI 10.14258/izvasu(2018)3-04

The article is devoted to the close historical and ethnocultural relations between the indigenous inhabitants of the Ural-Volga region and Turkmenistan, existing since the Middle Ages. According to Eastern authors, at that time part of the Bashkirs lived on the Syrdarya and in the Aral Sea region, along with the ancestors of the Turkmens, from where, due to political upheavals, some moved to the interfluve of the Urals and the Volga, while others moved to the Amudarya and further to the Transcaspian. Of particular interest for the development of our theme are similar subjects in Bashkir and Turkmen folklore. For comparison, several Bashkir traditions recorded by P. Nazarov, N. Maliev, R. Kuzeev and others are given in the work. The mention of Oguz-Khan, Turkmenistan, Turkmen khans, the wolf is common for folklore, especially the south-eastern Bashkirs. Other sources often mention Gorkut-Ata — the hero of the Oguz epic. A large number of ethnonymic parallels with the Turkmens also speak about the Oguz origin of some Bashkir clans. In the names of the settlements of Bashkortostan, the ethnonym "Turkmen" is also recorded. There are other similarities: both nations profess Islam, and the Turkmen language, in a number of phonetic features, draws close to Bashkir. Since 1993, the Turkmen Cultural Center has been actively operating in Bashkortostan. Republic representatives take part in many international forums, often held recently in Ashgabat. ; Статья посвящена тесным историческим и этнокультурным связям между коренными жителями Урало-Поволжья и Туркменистана, существующим с эпохи Средневековья. По сведениям восточных авторов, в это время часть башкир обитала на Сырдарье и в Приаралье вместе с предками туркмен, откуда из-за политических перипетий одни переселились в междуречье Урала и Волги, а другие — на Амударью и далее в Закаспий. Особый интерес для развития данной темы представляют схожие сюжеты в башкирском и туркменском фольклоре. Для сравнения в работе приводятся несколько башкирских преданий, записанных П. Назаровым, Н. Малиевым, Р. Кузеевым и др. Упоминание Огуз-хана, Туркмении, туркменских ханов, волка является обычным для фольклора в особенности юго-восточных башкир. В других источниках часто упоминается Горкут-Ата — герой огузского эпоса. Об огузском происхождении некоторых башкирских родов говорит также большое количество этнонимических параллелей с туркменами. В названиях населенных пунктов Башкортостана зафиксирован и сам этноним «туркмен». Имеются и другие схожести: оба народа исповедуют ислам, а туркменский язык по ряду фонетических особенностей сближается именно с башкирским. С 1993 г. в Уфе активно работает Туркменский культурный центр. Представители же Башкортостана принимают участие в работе многих международных форумов, в последнее время часто проходящих в Ашхабаде.

Указана актуальность избираемой исследователями тематики в рамках заявленной проблемы, плюрализм в методиках подхода к сложному материалу и корректность в подборе исторических фактов, необходимых для понимания перехода от поздней Античности к медиевальным реалиям. Подчеркнута спорность решения вопросов, касающихся презентации исследователями узловых проблем истории раннесредневековой Европы, особенно в сочетании с попытками выйти на эти проблемы через довольно узкие сюжеты. Особое внимание обращено на те тезисы сборника, которые по-новому пытаются раскрыть природу и содержание нарастания непонимания друг друга политическими и социальными группами государств Запада и Востока Европы 400–800 гг. This review reveals the conceptual and content side of a collection of works by German specialists, analysing the features and essential characteristics of the growing differences between the European West and the Eastern Mediterranean in the early Middle Ages. The reviewer emphasises the relevance of the subject chosen by the researchers within the framework of the stated problem, pluralism of methods they employ when approaching the complex material and the accuracy in the selection of historical facts necessary for understanding the transition from late Antiquity to medieval realities. Also, the reviewer points out the controversy of solving issues related to the way the researchers present the key issues of the history of early medieval Europe, especially as combined with their attempts to reach these issues through rather narrow subjects. Special attention is paid to the theses of the collection which make a new attempt at revealing the nature and content of the growing misunderstanding between the political and social groups of Western and Eastern Europe in 400–800 AD. The paper demonstrates a certain inconsistency of a number of authors of the book in their attempt to avoid projection of sociopolitical and religious and cultural differences between the West and the East of late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages on apparently similar discrepancies in the development of the studied regions in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

Изучаются демографические структуры кочевников Восточной Европы и их стратегии выживания. ; The article focuses on an overview of the demographic characteristics of the nomadic cultures of the East European steppes and, based on the options there possible strategies for survival in conditions of nomadic pastoralism are discussed . To this end, the author analyzed a number of demographic indicators: infant mortality; sex and age structure; the average age of survival; the ratio by sex; deaths of women of reproductive age, and others. There is the complexity of the determination of some demographic processes as integral elements of the life-support system for all historical periods shown. This problem stems from the fact that, since the turn of the eras, criteria such as infant mortality and the proportion of women in the groups is difficult to determine because of the low representativity or even the lack of (mound ?). In conclusion, we want to tell about the possible survival strategies that have chosen for themselves the various chronological groups of nomads. First of all it is connected with the formation of life-support system that was focused on nomadic economic and cultural identity, and second, it is connected with local factors, reflecting the migratory nature of the Late formation of community and participation in military clashes among the population of pre-Golden Horde period cemetery near Sarkel Belaya Vezha. Besides, the emphasis on the specifics of the demographic processes that were adaptive by their nature.

This paper is aimed at reconstructing the social structure of the population of the Tomsk Ob Region in the High Middle Ages. The source base is made up of materials from archaeological excavations of three burial grounds: Astrakhantsevsky burial mound, Basandaysky burial mound, and the burial ground at the mouth of the Malaya Kirgiska River. The composition of grave goods (in terms of quantity and quantity) and a burial structure served as criteria for the analysis. 212 graves of adults and children have been selected. As a result of the analysis, we have identified five adult groups and three children's groups. The adult groups are as follows. Representatives of group I had the most complete set of weapons: sabers, spears, bows and arrows. Only this group of warriors had a protective suite of armour. There were horses in some graves. We identified one grave of this group in the Astrakhantsevsky burial mound, two in Basandaysky burial mound, and seven in the burial ground at the mouth of the Malaya Kirgiska River. Group II includes graves with rich goods, such as jewelry made of precious metals, precious and semiprecious stones. There are also fragments of silk. There are graves with weapons, horses or their ammunition. Group III is divided into two subgroups: III/1 - cavalry warriors, professionals; III/2 - infantry warriors, hunters and other groups of the population. Group IV includes poorer segments of the population, with a small set of household goods. Group V includes graves without goods. The children's groups include: I - with rich goods, II - with scarce goods, III - without goods. Attention should be paid to the following circumstances: in several cases we identified persons buried in a mound as relatives or members of the same family. There are interesting observations concerning the location of mirrors. They were found in adult groups I, II, III, IV and children's group I, II. However, no special group of people authorized to perform religious rituals was identified. This situation is likely to reflect the social reality of that period in the Tomsk Ob Region. The identified adult groups represent the social structure: group I - representatives of local military and administrative authorities; group II - rich people, group III - cavalry warriors, power base (together with representatives of group I, they are likely to constitute the military elite); group III/2 - militia in wartime and hunters, fishermen or herders in peacetime; group IV - poorer segments of the local population, small in size; group V - people without goods, the poor, possibly dependent people. Among children, group I (children of wealthy parents) and group II (children of low-income parents) stand out. As for children without goods, it is quite difficult to explain reasons for such burials. ; Целью данной статьи является реконструкция социальной структуры общества Томского Приобья развитого Средневековья. Источниковую базу составили материалы археологических раскопок трех могильников: Астраханцевского, Басандайского и могильника у Устья Малой Киргизки. Критериями для анализа послужили качественно-количественный состав инвентаря и погребальные сооружения. Было отобрано 212 погребений взрослых и детей. В результате проделанной работы выделено пять групп среди взрослого населения и три группы детей. Рассмотрены группы взрослых. Представители группы I имели наиболее полный набор вооружения: сабли, копья, лук со стрелами. Только в этой группе у некоторых воинов есть защитный доспех-панцирь. Некоторые захоронения были с лошадьми. К группе II отнесены погребения с богатым инвентарем, включающим украшения из драгметаллов и драгоценных и полудрагоценных камней, встречены фрагменты шелка, есть погребения с оружием, с лошадьми или с их амуницией. Группа III разделена на две подгруппы: III/1 - воины-всадники, профессионалы; III/2 - пешие воины, охотники и другие группы населения. Группа IV включает захоронения с небольшим набором бытового инвентаря. Группа V - захоронения без инвентаря. Среди детей выделены следующие группы: I - с богатым инвентарем, II - с малым количеством инвентаря, III - без инвентаря. Выделенные группы у взрослого населения моделируют социальную структуру: группа I - это представители военно-административной власти на местах, группа II - богатые люди, группа III - воины-всадники, опора власти; вместе с представителями группы I они, видимо, составляли военную элиту; группа III/2 - это ополчение в военное время и охотники, рыболовы и скотоводы - в мирное время, группа IV - малоимущая часть местного населения, незначительная по количеству, группа V - безынвентарные, бедные, возможно, зависимые люди. Среди детей выделяется группа I - это дети богатых родителей, группа II - дети населения с малым достатком. Дети без инвентаря - причину таких погребений трудно объяснить.

The paper discusses the differences between Eastern and Western Christians during the Middle Ages through the prism of the lists of ritual deviations and bad habits of the 'Latin heretics', which were circulated in Byzantium in the second half of the 12th century (following the Great Schism of 1054). The translations and revisions of these lists remained popular among the Orthodox Christians in the Balkans and Eastern Europe up until the end of the 17th century. Special attention has been given to the reception among the Slavs of two Byzantine accusations levelled on the westerners – (1) that their priests shave; (2) that they eat various 'unclean' animals and creatures. The examples of the peculiar mundanity of the religious dialogue and polemics analysed in the paper suggest that this was a trend resulting from the ambition of the Orthodox societies in the Balkans and Eastern Europe to strengthen through various means their ethnic and religious identity in the context of the fierce political and confessional confrontation with the Catholic world of Western Europe. Also highlighted is the need for the research of medieval polemical texts to embrace the archaeological, ethnological and folkloristic evidence, which would allow us to clarify the sources and trends in the development and transformation of the key features of the identity of Slavic Orthodox societies during the Middle Ages and Modernity.

Рассматривается проблема христианизации Киевской Руси в контексте политической и религиозной истории средневековой Европы. Предпринята попытка провести сравнительный анализ развития христианства в Западной Европе и христианства в Византии в период раннего Средневековья и начала Высокого Средневековья. Особое внимание уделено сравнительному анализу начала процесса христианизации Скандинавии и начала христианизации Киевской Руси. Исследуется роль «норманнского фактора» в христианизации Киевской Руси. Отмечается, что Византия являлась мощной культурной матрицей для восточных славян, принятие христианства из Византии дало возможность прямого приобщения Руси к античному культурному наследию, однако по своему характеру это было позднеантичное и христианское наследие. На примере средневековой христианской «доктрины четырех царств» в истории человечества показывается, что в этом наследии были утрачены представления о полисах Греции и римской цивитас. На основе данных, приведенных в «Повести временных лет», доказывается, что отношение к западному христианству в Киевской Руси не являлось враждебным, многие противоречия между византийской и римской церквями не были понятными и актуальными для христиан Киевской Руси. ; Разглядаецца праблема хрысціянізацыі Кіеўскай Русі ў кантэксце палітычнай і рэлігійнай гісторыі сярэднявечнай Еўропы. Здзейснена спроба правесці параўнальны аналіз развіцця хрысціянства ў Заходняй Еўропе і хрысціянства ў Візантыі ў перыяд ранняга і пачатку Высокага Сярэднявечча. Асаблівая ўвага нададзена параўнальнаму аналізу пачатку працэсаў хрысціянізацыі Скандынавіі і Кіеўскай Русі. Даследуецца роля «нарманскага фактару» ў хрысціянізацыі Кіеўскай Русі. Адзначаецца, што Візантыя з'яўлялася магутнай культурнай матрыцай для ўсходніх славян, прыняцце хрысціянства з Візантыі дало магчымасць прамога далучэння Русі да антычнай культурнай спадчыны. Аднак па сваім характары гэта была познеантычная і хрысціянская спадчына. На прыкладзе сярэднявечнай хрысціянскай «дактрыны чатырох царстваў» у гісторыі чалавецтва паказваецца, што ў гэтай спадчыне былі страчаны ўяўленні аб полісах Грэцыі і рымскай цывітас. На падставе звестак, прыведзеных у «Аповесці мінулых гадоў», даказваецца, што адносіны да заходняга хрысціянства ў Кіеўскай Русі не з'яўляліся варожымі, многія супярэчнасці паміж візантыйскай і рымскай царквамі не былі зразумелымі і актуальнымі для хрысціян Кіеўскай Русі. = This article examines the Christianization of Kievan Rus' in the context of Medieval European political and religious history. It aims at comparative analysis of Christianity development in Western Europe and Byzantium in the Early and High Middle Ages with the specific focus on comparative analysis of the beginning of the Christianization process in Scandinavia and Kievan Rus'. The article explores the role of the «Norman's factor» in the Christianization of the Kievan Rus'. It claims that Byzantium was a powerful cultural model for Eastern Slavs, and Christianity gave them the opportunity to share the cultural heritage of Antiquity. But, qualitatively, this was a late-antique and Christian heritage. By using the example of the medieval Christian «four kingdoms» doctrine's role in the history of mankind, the article shows that the concepts of Greek polis and Roman civitas were lost in this heritage. By using evidence from «Povest Vremmenykh Let» («Tale of Bygone Years») the article argues that Kievan Rus' did not perceive Western Christianity as a threat and many contradictions between the Byzantine and Roman churches were not understood or heeded by the Christians of Kievan Rus'.

International audience ; his paper compares the results of anthropological research and information about the burial of horses in the burialgrounds of the Sambian-Natangian civilisation (Dollkeim-Kovrovo culture). The inclusion of anthropological analysis datafrom the cemeteries of Mitino and Zaostrovye-1 shows that for the Merovingian period and the beginning of the Vikingperiod, the connection of horse burials exclusively with male graves is not certain. Horse burials are accompanied here bymale, female and children's burials. Presence of a horse in the burials of Sambian-Natangian culture was undoubtedly a socialmarker, and Roman period was associated primarily with military funerary rituals. At the beginning of the Middle Ages, thecustom of burying a horse was "democratized" and widely used. However, presence of horses in burials continues to play therole of a social indicator, but now it is not the presence of the horse that is indicative, but their number. ; В данной работе сопоставлены результаты антропологических исследований и сведения о захоронениях лошадейв могильниках самбийско-натангийской культуры (культура Доллькайм-Коврово). Привлечение данных антропологи-ческого анализа из некрополей Митино и Заостровье-1 показывает, что для меровингского времени и начала эпохивикингов связь конских захоронений исключительно с мужскими могилами не является бесспорной. Конские захо-ронения сопровождают здесь мужские, женские и детские погребения. Присутствие коня в погребениях самбийско-натангийской культуры, несомненно, являлось и социальным маркером, а в римское время было связано в первую оче-редь с воинскими погребальными ритуалами. В начале средневековья обычай погребения коня «демократизируется»и получает широкое распространение. Наличие коней в погребениях продолжает играть роль социального индикатора,но теперь показательным является не сам факт присутствие коня, а их количество.
