"Der Beitrag betrachtet die Auswirkungen internationaler Migration auf das schulische Bildungssystem in Deutschland. Ausgehend von den unterschiedlichen Bildungserträgen der Schüler(innen) mit und ohne Migrationshintergrund wird der Frage nachgegangen, wie diese Unterschiede zustande kommen und welche Ursachen ihnen zugrunde liegen. Aus einer Analyse der regelhaften Bildungsberichterstattung, der Schulstatistik sowie empirischer Bildungsstudien werden Handlungsempfehlungen an die Adresse von Bildungsforschung, Bildungsmanagement und an die pädagogische Praxis abgeleitet. Ansatzpunkte sind bei der exakteren Dokumentation von Migrationsbiographie und Sprachfertigkeit zu suchen, gefolgt von gezielter Bildungsberatung und einer durchgehenden Sprachförderung bis zum Abschluss der Sekundarstufe. Besonderes Augenmerk - sowohl in der Forschung als auch in der kommunalen Praxis - ist zudem auf institutionelle Diskriminierung, die ausgrenzenden Folgen von Wohnsegregation und die Integration der Migrant(inn)en in den Arbeitsmarkt zu richten. "By using case study data collected in West Berlin, this chapter examines changes that occur in the structure of the Turkish family as a result of labor migration to Europe. It studies the deleterious effects which current laws, regulations and employment practices may often have upon the unity of the migrant family. The discussion also analyzes changes which vome about in household composition and shows how patrilocal norms disappear among migrant families. Modifications in division of labor, budget control and family roles are also examined. "Vornamen können die Zugehörigkeit zu sozialen Gruppen anzeigen. Greifen Migranten bei der Vergabe von Vornamen für ihre Kinder auf Namen zurück, die in dem jeweiligen Einwanderungsland üblich sind, dann interpretieren die Autoren dies als ein Anzeichen gewünschter Akkulturation. Vergeben sie hingegen Vornamen, die allein in ihrem Heimatland gebräuchlich sind, so interpretieren sie dies als ein Anzeichen von geringer Akkulturation. Auf der Basis einer Auswertung der Daten des Sozio-Ökonomischen Panels haben sie für Migranten aus drei Herkunftsgruppen (Südwesteuropa, Ex-Jugoslawien, Türkei) untersucht, in welchem Maße die Eltern ihren Kindern in Deutschland gebräuchliche Namen geben und wie man Unterschiede im Grad der Akkulturation in der Vergabe der Vornamen erklären kann. Die Autoren können zeigen, dass Zuwanderer aus der Türkei gegenüber solchen aus dem ehemaligen Jugoslawien und Südwesteuropa seltener in Deutschland gebräuchliche Vornamen vergeben. Die Wahrscheinlichkeit der Vergabe deutscher Vornamen bei Zuwanderern steigt, wenn die kulturelle Distanz (religiöse und sprachliche Distanz) zwischen Herkunftsland und Einwanderungsland gering ist, die Bildung der Eltern hoch ist, sie deutsche Freunde oder Partner haben und politisch durch die deutsche Staatsbürgerschaft integriert sind." When immigrant parents choose a first name for their child that is common in their host society, they show a high degree of acculturation. In contrast, selecting a name common only in their country of origin indicates ethnic maintenance. Using data from the German Socio-Economic Panel the authors analyze the choice of names for migrants from three different countries of origin (e.g. South Western Europe, Former Yugoslavia, and Turkey); in addition, they try to explain differences in the level of acculturation in terms of name giving. They can show that Turkish immigrants are much less likely to choose German names for their children than immigrants from Former Yugoslavia and from South Western Europe. Acculturation in terms of name giving depends on the cultural distance (religion and language) between the country of origin and the host society, the parents' socio-structural integration in terms of education and citizenship, and interethnic networks." "This case study argues that even in increasingly unstable circumstances women migrant workers have to continue to balance their reproductive responsibilities as mothers and daughters with their ongoing roles as wage workers and economic providers, often managing complex transborder care arrangements. The chapter extends the global care chain framework to investigate the ways in which Burmese migrant factory workers in Thailand organize reproduction and childcare in the place of destination and in the in-between places at the international horders between the two countries. The chapter provides new insights into ways migrant women factory workers adapt and strategize to achieve daily, generational, and biological reproduction needs and the links between these strategies and the pattern of capital accumulation in Thailands border industrialization strategy. The elaboration of multiple forms of control and regulation from the state to the factory as well as community highlights the structures of constraint as well as the ways women negotiate around these constraints. The aim of the chapter is to delineate key issues of social injustice relating to their nationality and legal ambiguity of status (migrant or worker). Focusing on the individual agency of migrant workers, our research demonstrates that existing analyses of the women's experiences of work and of harassment in Thailand needs to be supplemented by an understanding of their ongoing but changing connections with home and family, in terms of resourcing care for children, the elderly, and other relatives in their home country, as well as their community and family obligations and responsibilities in their place of employment." Die Autorin untersucht die Bildungsbeteiligung von Migrantennachkommen in Frankreich und Deutschland, insbesondere junger Menschen mit einem türkischen Hintergrund in Deutschland und einem nordafrikanischen Hintergrund in Frankreich. Die Auswertung repräsentativer Daten für Frankreich und Deutschland zeigt, dass die Migrantenkinder in Frankreich deutlich höhere Bildungsabschlüsse erreichen als in Deutschland, obwohl die Situation hier polarisierter ist. Diese Bildungsungleichheiten wirken sich auch auf die Partizipationsstrukturen am Arbeitsmarkt aus. Trotz der Defizite der Migrantennachkommen in Deutschland im Hinblick auf das erreichte Bildungsniveau, haben diese eine relativ bessere Situation im Hinblick auf ihre Beschäftigung. Die Nachkommen maghrebinischer Migranten in Frankreich erfahren hingegen Arbeitslosigkeit und berufliche Disqualifizierung trotz relativ hoher Bildungsabschlüsse. Die Partizipationsstrukturen verweisen der Autorin zufolge auf zwei unterschiedliche soziale Logiken: eine soziale Distanzierung durch Relegation in Deutschland und eine soziale Distanzierung durch Diskriminierung in Frankreich. So tendieren Jugendliche mit maghrebinischem Hintergrund, die Diskriminierung erfahren, eher dazu, ihre Zugehörigkeit zur französischen Nation aufzukündigen. Dagegen hat die Diskriminierungserfahrung keinen Effekt auf das Zugehörigkeitsgefühl türkischer Migrantennachkommen in Deutschland. (ICI2).
