En este artículo analizamos, desde la teoría del framing, la información ofre- cida por los dos canales de noticias 24 horas del grupo News Corporation, Sky News y Fox News, con relación a la crisis nuclear de Corea del Nor- te en el periodo 9 -23 de abril de 2013. Nos centramos en aspectos como la "foxificación", la presencia de expertos militares en los bloques de noti- cias y los encuadres informativos. En el caso de Sky News, la información se ofrece desde el prisma de los sucesos a nivel nacional debido al tiempo dedicado a la polémica con el documental del programa "Panorama" de la BBC. El tratamiento de la crisis nuclear en Fox News se traduce en cons- tantes críticas a las políticas militares llevadas a cabo por Corea, la exalta- ción patriótica de los Estados Unidos poniendo el acento sobre el sistema defensivo y todo ello rodeado de una crítica feroz a la Administración Obama por no promover una intervención militar en el conflicto. ; The information provided by News Corporation's two 24-hour news channels: Sky News and Fox News, concerning the North Korean nuclear crisis during April 9 -23, 2013 is examined in this paper from the standpoint of the framing theory. O tratamento da crise nuclear na Fox News se traduz e constantes críticas às políticas militares realizadas pela Coreia, a exaltação patriótica dos Estados Unidos que enfatizou o sistema defensivo e tudo isso rodeado de uma crítica feroz à Administração Obama por não promover uma intervenção no conflito.

Translation of an article published in THE CATHOLIC NEWS entitled "Los obispos norteamericanos publican una carta pastoral que se relaciona con la situación mexicana" [American Bishops published a pastoral letter concerning the Mexican situation] about the warning that cardinals, archbishops, and bishops of the American Catholic Church made to the Christian civilization over the religious persecution in Mexico, which was in violation of the principles of freedom. This paper evaluates the practices of online news media in representing citizens in the midst of the Eurozone crisis from the perspective of civic participation. Our special focus is on the interplay of argumentation and affect as crucial sources of political action. The empirical analysis examines affective and argumentative framing in two multimodal story types, captioned photo galleries and video reviews, and evaluates their capacity facilitating or hindering political agency. Video reviews construct news narratives that incorporate both affective and argumentative elements. Photo galleries, by contrast, emphasize affect at the cost of argumentation and voice resulting in alienation and silencing. The analysis gives grounds to suggest that dramatized visual news narratives about the financial crisis echo discourses of war on terror and unspecific threat. Such discourses legitimize pre-emptive action (austerity measures, police force), which, in effect, participate in producing what it is supposed to fight (economic inequality, social unrest, violence).

Said article is entitled "Por que se permite que el mercantilismo dicte la política México-Americana" [Why is Mercantilism allowed to lead the Mexican American politics?] and it argues that every hostile attitude of the U.S. against Mexico affects the handling business with the rest of Latin America. Fake news generated nowadays broad debates. The spread of fake news intertwines with the phenomenon of populism and the crisis of democracy. Indeed, the cornerstone of democracy, the freedom of public opinion, is the assumption that authenticity of facts is not altered. The separation of opinions from facts as the basis of democratic participation in political scene is the emblematic position of Hannah Arendt. But If it is acceptable that fake news must be countered by correct realism, we must be aware of the mutual implication of both terms at stake: subjects and reality. What is the real of fake news? ; Las noticias falsas generan hoy amplios debates. La difusión de noticias falsas se entrelaza con el fenómeno del populismo y la crisis de la democracia. De hecho, la piedra angular de la democracia, la libertad de la opinión pública, es la suposición de que la autenticidad de los hechos no se altera. La separación de las opiniones de los hechos como base de la participación democrática en la escena política es la posición emblemática de Hannah Arendt. Pero si es aceptable que las noticias falsas deban ser contrarrestadas por el realismo correcto, debemos ser conscientes de la implicación mutua de ambos términos en juego: sujetos y realidad. ¿Cuál es la realidad de las noticias falsas?

In today's context of media proliferation and increasing access to diverse media content, it becomes necessary to address young people's motivation to consume information. Researching this age group is relevant given that adolescence is a key period in people's civic socialization. This study explores how 13 to 17 year old Chileans consume news, in a multiple-platform, convergent and mobile media context. There are few studies that focus on the information habits of this particular age group. Using a quantitative self-administered questionnaire applied to 2,273 high school adolescents from four different regions in the country, this paper analyses participants' news consumption habits, their interest in news, their perception about the importance of different topics, and their motivations to being informed. The results show that surveyed teenagers access information mainly via social media like Facebook, to the detriment of traditional media. These adolescents are least interested in traditional politics, but they think this is the most prominent topic in the news. Their motivations to consume news have to do with their wish to be able to defend their points of view and deliver information to others. Also, they think that their portrayal in the news agenda is both inadequate and negative. These findings suggest that the news industry has a pending debt with young audiences.
