; With the aim to reveal the press' approach to the political parties especially in campaign periods, in this study the Turkish dailies Sabah, Milliyet, Cumhuriyet and Yeni Şafak are examined on the basis of their news coverage of the political parties AKP and CHP during the Turkish general elections of November 2002. The issues which have been dealt most frequently by each of the studied newspapers in relation with each of the parties have been defined and then it has been determined whether if these issues had been covered according to the objectivity criterions. News coverage which should clearly be considered as in favor or against each party has been classified accordingly. In view of the results of the election it is found that there was a harmony between the agenda of the sample newspapers and the agenda of the society, however, this harmony disappears at the approach to the political parties.
