Este trabalho trata de uma revisão bibliográfica preliminar de pesquisa sobre o passo do frevo, manifestação carnavalesca da cultura popular pernambucana, com a intenção de investigar as transformações nessa dança, seus percursos de escolarização e espetacularização e as implicações estéticas e políticas desse processo. De dança marginal e alvo de perseguição de elites, a dança do frevo tornou-se expressão cultural emblemática de Pernambuco. A pesquisa em andamento procura investigar a temática com base na compreensão do contexto histórico e social do surgimento e desenvolvimento desta manifestação (MENEZES NETO, 2014), da criação de métodos de aprendizado de dança popular (VICENTE, 2009) e do conceito de espetacularização (DEBORD, 1996), (CARVALHO, 2010), entre outros.
Social sciences, understood as critical and not neutral by nature, they should be equipped with specific competencies and sensivity. C. W. Mills these comptence define as sociological imagination - which is study of the relationship of history and biography, Giddens interpreted it as three basic senses: historical, anthropological, critical. The translation into political science would be a political theories imagination, it consist,, among over things like a: historicity of political phenomena, antisubstansialism, research self-awareness. Definition of political theories imagination I propose in the context of Wiktor Marzec's paper Rebelion and Reaction, which is a study from field of historical sociology, it's in itself a lot of inspiration for theorists of politics: research, theoretical and methodological. It is worth considering -in this context- fundamental categories of political science, like political subjectivity and the political, also revalidate in their range.
The article examines the Polish regional differences after 1990. It shows the evolutionary process of creation and re-creation of a regional identity (from administrative regions to regions of identity). The author characterizes types of political representation in the Polish regions and wonders if the regions are independent entities of the EU policies. No início dos anos 2010, uma onda de manifestações sociais irrompeu em diferentes países. Por meio do uso de performances alinhadas com os gêneros virais das mídias sociais, essas manifestações consolidaram a estética Carnavalesca que caracteriza as narrativas políticas produzidas e distribuídas em rede por ativistas. Assim, este artigo reflete sobre o fenômeno das mobilizações globais a partir de seis vídeos que apresentam performances ativistas inspiradas no universo de Guerras nas Estrelas. Produzidos em mobilizações distintas entre os anos de 2010 e 2014, os vídeos foram coletados manualmente na plataforma YouTube e contextualizados sob a perspectiva dos Estudos de Mídia.
Este trabalho tem um duplo propósito: por um lado, apresentar a relevância, abrangência e profundidade dos estudos históricos e sociológicos sobre a quantificação; de outro, reconstruir as origens deste campo e as transformações por ele conhecidas ao longo dos últimos anos. Nesse percurso, interessa-nos destacar os vínculos entre os trabalhos que analisaram os processos de raciocinar, valorar, medir e comparar com números e as preocupações clássicas e contemporâneas da sociologia. Com este objetivo, o presente artigo oferece uma ampla revisão da literatura do campo, buscando despertar o interesse da comunidade de cientistas sociais por suas potencialidades heurísticas. Ao mesmo tempo, procura-se compilar as contribuições dos estudos sociais da quantificação à sociologia como um todo. A primeira seção apresenta um relato histórico sobre a formação desta perspectiva de análise, suas principais obras de referência e aportes mais significativos. A segunda seção discute as razões pelas quais entendemos que a sociologia deveria ampliar sua atenção para as operações e os regimes de quantificação nas sociedades contemporâneas. Além disso, examina as contribuições que o campo tem a oferecer para a reflexão sobre as questões nodais da disciplina, como o problema dos fundamentos da ordem social e da autoridade política, os processos de diferenciação social e configuração de subjetividades, a participação social, a crítica e a agência social transformadora.***AbstractThis article has a dual purpose: on the one hand, it seeks to present the relevance, scope, and depth of historical and sociological approaches on quantification; on the other, it seeks to reconstruct the origins of this field and its changes over the past few years. Thus, we emphasize the links between the works that analyzed the processes of reasoning, valuing, measuring, and comparing through numbers and sociology's main classical and contemporary concerns. As such, this article offers a broad review of the literature in the field, seeking to arouse the interest of the community of social scientists for its heuristic potential. At the same time, it seeks to compile the contributions of the social studies of quantification to sociology as a whole. The first section presents a historical account of the formation of this analytical perspective, its main references and most significant contributions. The second section discusses the reasons why we believe sociology should extend its attention to the regimes of quantification in contemporary societies. In addition, it addresses the contributions of the field for the advancement of nodal issues, such as the problem of the foundations of social order and political authority, the processes of social differentiation, and the making of subjects, social engagement, criticism, and social change.
This article aims to make an insight into the conditions of immigration policy and actions undertaken by the Swedish authorities and political parties in the face of the migration crisis in Europe after 2015. A hypothesis presented here assumes that a decisive evolution of the attitudes of the Swedish authorities, political parties, and society towards a restrictive approach to immigration arose from the awareness of the negative consequences of migration management for the Swedish socio-economic model and the political scene. The theoretical framework used in this article is the concept of policy responsiveness, including the ability of political authorities to respond effectively and lawfully to the needs and expectations of the citizens. Process tracing was applied as a research method useful for following the transformation process Sweden's immigration policy. Statistical data, documents issued by the government and political parties, as well as the subject literature were the sources utilised in the research. Conclusions drawn from the research point to the tightening of immigration policy as a result of the fear of a prolonged pull effect on foreigners and concern surrounding the appropriate handling of immigration in full accordance with the adopted model of immigration policy.
A pesquisa visa conduzir uma exploração acerca do discurso do então presidente estadunidense Donald Trump durante o primeiro ano de seu mandato, entendendo-o enquanto responsável por aprofundar inseguranças ontológicas através de uma narrativa focada em crises e ameaças interna e externamente dadas à coesão e identidade coletiva daquilo que Trump e seus apoiadores entendiam como "América'', gerando um processo de securitização. Para tal, proponho o uso conjunto das teorias de securitização e de segurança ontológica, com enfoque em dois discursos emblemáticos da era Trump, onde são definidas algumas das principais diretrizes de sua administração em relação ao que ela considerava como as questões mais urgentes daquele momento, com enfoque para o "problema" da migração. Ao lidar com temas como a imigração ilegal, argumenta-se que Trump instrumentaliza a noção de (in)segurança ontológica de seus eleitores através de caracterizações e denúncias reiteradas de imigrantes enquanto ameaças à suposta ou almejada coesão interna da nação estadunidense. Devido ao seu apelo direto e frequentemente emotivo à ideia de uma identidade nacional primordial norte-americana, o imaginário de segurança enunciado por Trump em seus discursos requer necessariamente uma abordagem teórica que contemple a segurança ontológica e, consequentemente, o valor simbólico e afetivo de reivindicações políticas de extrema-direita na contemporaneidade, cuja notável adesão requer exploração mais aprofundada.
The author analyses the factors that weaken the influence of the principles of meritocracy on the institutions and public policy. He indicates that a meritocratic approach to governance in the programming of public actions has become a resource for obtaining legitimacy of power in Poland to a limited extent. The advantages of meritocracy (the "efficiency" and "justice") have not been exploited on a significant scale. As a result, there is a significant illegitimacy of the democratic system, as well as the weakening of the society identification with the state. This phenomenon is characterized by low prestige of politicians and a poor voter turnout. The author draws attention to the fact that meritocratic management mechanisms of public institutions in Poland are significantly reduced due to numerous factors - the appropriation of the state by political parties, institutional nomadism of the elite, the rules of political capitalism, a soft state and the institutionalization of non-responsibility or activities of various interest groups and backstage actors of politics.
O artigo analisa o fenômeno da abolição da escravidão no Brasil a partir de uma sociologia política relacional. De um lado, o abolicionismo é analisado como parte de uma dinâmica que envolvia instituições políticas, espaço público e clandestinidade, arenas nas quais se travou o jogo entre movimento, Estado e contramovimento escravista. De outro lado, a análise insere o movimento em seu contexto internacional, apontando a apropriação do repertório de experiências abolicionistas estrangeiras por ativistas brasileiros. O objetivo é evidenciar a modernidade e a relevância do movimento abolicionista nacional para o processo político de abolição da escravidão.
The author has made an attempt to theoretically - by referring to empirical evidence - formulate the necessary conditions that allow participatory processes to happen. In this perspective, participation is not only an ethical requirement but primarily a mechanism that supports taking up the challenges posed by the increasing complexity of the social world. The examples presented in the article show that participation has a very strong 'competitor': clientelism. In the spaces where the latter forms the base of the relations between the government and society, it is difficult to find a well-rooted and sustainable presence of participatory processes. The author thus presents a hypothesis that the logic of clientelism, together with the lack of the ability to recognise the importance of resource interdependence, has the ability to weaken participation, or in other words, wash it out in a specific way. Clientelism strives to maximise the control over resources. This can, in some cases, support the realisation of development goals or be effective in particular governmental arrangements (e.g. the transformation in Poland in the 90s of the 20th century), however, it also deepens the passivity and in the long run can lead to a decrease in the value of some resources or even their loss. In this context, participation is thus understood mainly as an expression of caring for the owned and acquired resources and as the recognition of their interdependence.
This essay proposes an investigation on the forms of contemporary cynicism, combining the interpretation of political drama with reflections of the daily life sociology, particularly referring to Simmel, Goffman and De Certeau. In an expanded historical perspective from the 21st century metropolis to the communication media of the 20th century, it proposes a reconstruction of the political action and of certain moment of its imagination. A moment that shall be studied as from its relations with money, time acceleration and sensory overstimulation, which institute a new image of social relations. Cynicism seems to be, in the conditions created by metropolis and media, the cultural form more suitable for management and organization of daily events in public sphere. ; Esse ensaio propõe uma investigação sobre as formas do cinismo contemporâneo, conjugando a interpretação do drama político com reflexões da sociologia da vida cotidiana, com particular referência a Simmel, Goffman e De Certeau. Numa perspectiva histórica ampliada da metropóle do século XXI aos meios de comunicação do século XX, propõe uma reconstrução da ação política e de determinado momento de seu imaginário. Um momento que será estudado a partir de suas relação com o dinheiro, com a aceleração do tempo e com a superestimulação sensocial, que instituem uma nova imagem das relações sociais. O cinismo parece ser, nas condições criadas pela metrópole e pela mídia, a forma cultural mais adequada para a gestão e organização dos eventos diários na esfera política.
Brazil is a Republic of political dynasties, as these families are present in all spheres of public power in the periods of Colony, Empire, Republic and in contemporary times. The research sought to investigate the direct relationship between the rise of Brazilian conservatism and the increase of political dynasties in the Chamber of Deputies. For this, it was necessary to trace the biographical trajectory of all 513 congressman and congresswoman and understand the specific logic of the action of those belonging to political dynasties. The purpose was to verify which political spectrum these parliamentarians are in. ; Brasil es una República de dinastías políticas, ya que estas familias están presentes en todas las esferas del poder público en los períodos de Colonia, Imperio, República y en la época contemporánea. La investigación buscó investigar la relación directa entre el auge del conservadurismo brasileño y el surgimiento de dinastías políticas en la Cámara de Diputados. Para ello, fue necesario trazar la trayectoria biográfica de los 513 diputados y comprender la lógica específica de la acción de los diputados pertenecientes a dinastías políticas. El propósito era verificar en qué espectro político se encuentran estos parlamentarios. ; O Brasil é uma República de dinastias políticas, visto que se constata a presença dessas famílias em todas as esferas do poder público dos períodos da Colônia, Império, República e na contemporaneidade. A pesquisa procurou investigar a relação direta entre a ascensão do conservadorismo brasileiro e o aumento das dinastias políticas na Câmara dos Deputados. Para isto, foi necessário traçar a trajetória biográfica de todos os 513 deputados e compreender a lógica específica da ação dos deputados pertencentes a dinastias políticas. O propósito foi verificar em qual espectro político se encontram estes referidos parlamentares.
