This work outlines the way student theatre groups managed to negotiate a degree of independence with the ideological and administrative State authorities in charge of artistic activities in post-Staline USSR. As a theatrical mode of expression as well as a type of social behaviour, did stageplay lead some youths to outplay the moral norms and organizational, discursive and aesthetic paradigms that were imposed on them? Even though those groups seemed to reproduce most official paradigms, irony together with a degree spirit of their minds resulting from artistic practice, allowed them to "play" with the dramatic framework and even at times to "outplay" it, while remaining within the limits of what was socially and artistically acceptable. Though they never went as far as constituting hotbeds of insurrection, the groups studied here could indeed be construed as outposts where a certain independence of mind and action remained possible. This research is based on interviews and both private and public archives and retraces the productions and operative modes of several types of groups: "theatre workshops" overseen by professionals, "studios" created by students themselves, teams running for KVN (a popular TV game where teams compete by giving funny answers to questions and performing sketches), "propaganda brigades" whose purpose was to spread urban culture in the countryside and on major building sites.
From 1896 to 1957, the Lyon City council leads an ambitious innovative policy in the field of "éducation populaire" (public education, education for all). The political will to opt for an education policy can be accounted for by the particular context during the first half of the 20th century. This city is flourishing and its population is increasing constantly particularly its working class and the number of pupils. At the time, Édouard Herriot is Lyon's mayor. In Lyon he begins being involved in politics in the context of the Dreyfus affair.Lyon is to be a springboard for his political career. By becoming mayor of Lyon at the age of 33, Herriot can enforce his school and educative policy in accordance with the principles of democratization of schooling and education he advocates, a policy which makes schooling more easily accessible to all that he shares with the "Compagnons de l'Université Nouvelle" intertwined networks of activists. Those networks prove to be particularly fertile and active during the period. Analyzing them shows how numerous they are and sheds light on their actions through the profusion of non-profit organizations and their many publication. However, while the analysis of the different historic sources available allow to Lyon's thriving community life related to "éducation populaire", the same sources do not mention how different organizations work.Analyzing the practices and project of the different "éducation populaire"movements and organizations show how the aims evolved during that period. Initially the goal is based on a program of hygiene physical education awareness. It is meant to fight social plagues such as tuberculoses and alcoholism. Gradually political goals emerge. The different activists have to establish a program of education in the true sense of the word of civic education, addressed to the children from Lyon working-class families. The aim is obviously to fight against the influence of opposite to the French Third Republic. In these activist circles above all clerical ones, regime evolves in these activist circle, makes the perceptions and political fears of parts of the population stand out this analysis also allows to put forward how deeply involved in politics these "éducation populaire" activists are in the second half of the 20th century. The fear of fascism then becomes a deep motivation for education. This research thus seeks to make the way these organizations and "éducation populaire" work re-emerge while attempting to be as close as possible to the viewpoint of regular activists. This bygone world of several of them whose biography could be traced.

This paper explores the clandestine connections, in what we call the gray zone of politics, between official political actors and unofficial political actors who are entrusted with the more unseemly "dirty work" of politics in contemporary Argentina, such as inciting episodes of collective violence, "paying off" youths with drugs and alcohol for their work of attending political rallies, and making physical threats against opposition parties and candidates. After a brief review of existing literature on the relationship between clandestine political connections and collective violence, this paper uses an ethnographic reanalysis of existing data to construct three detailed accounts that highlight the role the gray zone plays in contemporary Argentinean politics. We argue that the laundering of political acts through these clandestine channels constitutes a crucial dimension of politics that must be empirically dissected and theorized to better understand routine political activity writ large before concluding with a brief consideration of the analytical and methodological implications of such a framework. Based on the results of a survey of volunteers involved in the organization Unis-Cite in 2008-2009, this article aims to analyze the contribution of French voluntary civil service on political socialization of young people. After presenting the outlines of their political experience prior to their civil service, it will present this public instrument and, in particular, identify factors that influence the volunteers' representations, knowledge, and citizen practices. Finally, it will measure the effects of this experience on these dimensions. Adapted from the source document.
Student activism, like all types of activism, has undergone a number of fundamental changes over recent decades. These changes have often been reduced to an opposition between membership activism and what Jacques Ion calls post-it activism. Through a series of interviews held with students active within not for profit organisations, political organisations, unions as well as students categorised as alter-activists, this PhD thesis presents an inventory of how different forms of activism work as experimental spaces and influence the identity and political construction of individuals. Moreover, this PhD thesis revises the binary opposition between the militant form of membership activism and the detached form of post-it activism, and contends that the notion of intensity is no longer relevant as it cannot be measured against how long someone is a affiliated to an organisation because today new forms of activism relate to several different spheres in the life of an individual.By articulating the sociology of agency, social movement theory, the sociology of youth and the sociology of the public sphere, this PhD thesis brings to light new shifts in student activism within the context of individualisation and advanced modernity.
This thesis is at the crossroads of epistemological, heuristic and praxeological reflections raised by taking into account social demands in education. It comes from a research commissioned by a local authority. It is part of an intervention-research to accompany a political decision in which a « living ones youth » observatory is co-developed. This collaborative item, positioned as a socio-scientific third way between the scientific world and the social world, provokes two types of meetings, between, on one hand, researchers and social actors and on the other hand, policy makers and young people. This thesis studies the process of movement of plural knowledge involved in an intervention-research through its dynamic epistemic, both socio-cognitive and socio-political, order. The theoretical framework is built on the articulation of three components which are the theoretical sociology of translation, the spiral of knowledge and the notion of emancipation. Two field surveys have been carried out among local youth as well as four local council representatives and four young people enlisted in the observatory. The results of this work show an interactive and iterative form of explicit knowledge and tacit knowledge co-construction is made possible by their explanation, their sharing, their continuous interaction and gradual formalization. They also reveal the drawbacks and forces in the co-production of multi-epistemological knowledge, that is to say, which have a different legitimacy of traditional forms of knowledge production with both a social and scientific validity. The emancipatory dimension of such a cognitive process for enlisted contributors is also highlighted, and more specifically, the development of the empowerment of young people and legitimizing their rights into the community.
It is a full sociological phenomenon as Marcel Mauss puts it to support a European team or even two from a distance like Royal Madrid and Barcelona. The question then becomes How to read such a phenomenon, in Palestine as it is not a particular trend to one society. Read here is used as mode of justifying such a global trend that has the ability to gather supporters from countries across the globe from the football club itself. And also how to attempt to analysis the dynamics of such groups and see the symbolical dimensions they use to identify with these teams. The particularity of the Palestinian context adds is the fact that these supporters have here over others is that they live with a colonial context and are subjected to this condition daily. This particularity demands from any reader an accompanying analysis of the social dimension of such a phenomenon as well as taking into consideration the cultural and sociological changes it brings about, withers on the symbolical or on the ideological level.
Since the beginning of the Eighties, the measures implemented by the city's politics and the arrangement of the child's time, and more recently, in the social cohesion laws designed to orient and plan the reorganisation of the school system, have been powerful means allowing the emergence of local educational projects controlled by the communes. These projects are developed within an institutional context in perpetual movement, tangled up with multiple concerns, and are characteristically implemented outside the school time. Knowing that the local nature of these projects is strongly valued, by the State as well as by the communes, this thesis considers "the local educational" as the system that these local educational projects form as a whole. It deals with general information and identifies profound changes to understand and assess the impact of their emergence on the public action at the educational level, which addresses the free time of the children and the teenagers. This thesis is presented in four parts. The first, entitled "The factory of the educational room: from youth movements to the local educational projects" is made up of three chapters and deals with the sociogenealogy of the local educational, successively considered from the point of view of associations, of the State and of the communes. The second part is titled "To get close to the actors. The investigation and its means". It is made up of only one chapter, presents the epistemology and methodologies of the investigation. This investigation, carried out on a nationalscale, mobilizes observations, a document review, about forty interviews, and a survey completed by 630 professionals in the field. The third part, "The local educational as field of action" considers two categories of actors: elected officials and the professionals who are each the topic of one chapter. Lastly, a fourth section analyses "The educational prospects", in two parts. First, chapter 7 explores how the local educational projects are developed. It deals with the ...
