This article contends that September 11, 1973 saw the beginning of a counterrevolution in Chile and that this counterrevolution was not only based on the actions of President Salvador Allende between 1970 and 1973 but also on the actions of the Chilean people since the 1920s and 1930s. Lastly, that this counterrevolution has an important cultural edge. It is further argued that, since the end of the dictatorship, democracy in Chile has not fully recovered but rather that the authoritarian counterrevolution, although somewhat restrained, has continued to stand and that its cultural perspective has remained standing as well.

This paper analyzes Chilean feminism in the 2000s and argues that three branches of feminism coexist in post-dictatorship Chile. The differentiation between these branches goes beyond merely tactical or strategic discrepancies and involves fundamentally divergent political projects. This differentiation is closely linked to the institutionalization of gender policies by the center-left coalition in power between 1990 and 2010, the Concertación. The analysis discusses the different branch's collective action repertoires and highlights the tensions and power struggles in Chilean feminism. Lastly, the paper sets forth a tentative analysis of the recent rebirth of feminist activism in 2018, premised on the intersection of two framing contexts: the domestic struggles for greater democracy and social justice and the international feminist uprising against sexual violence and harassment with the MeToo phenomenon or the campaign to legalize abortion in Argentina.

This article reflects and deepens around some results acquired from studies on expressions of violence in Chile, during the commemoration of certain emblematic dates, particularly on September 11th and March 29th. Some resources or instruments come from there, as anarchist resistance linked to punk experiences in post-dictatorship Chile. According with this, it is looking for clues about the relationship anarco-punk, which culminates in what is called "anarco-punk movement" and explains precisely this coexistence. It is worth mentioning that, the positioning of this analysis in the period called "transition to democracy", it has to do on one hand, coincidentally in its beginnings with the massification of the punk counterculture in the popular sectors. Moreover, on the other, with the resurgence of anarchist force during this period, because of the disaffection mainly of young people, with the course of the politics of those years and the means and/or spaces for political participation that characterize such a period ; El presente artículo reflexiona y profundiza en torno a algunos resultados obtenidos de la investigación sobre las expresiones de violencia en Chile, durante la conmemoración de algunas fechas emblemáticas, particularmente el 11 de septiembre y el 29 de marzo.

Among the most important difficulties is the relation between motion pictures and politics, when it refers to the proposals from different memories in a disputed field. ; The main aim of the present article is to demonstrate that Argentinian Postmodernity constituted, simultaneously, a result and a response in relation to the transformations at the organization of power and legitimacy. Argentinian postdictatorial literature emerged from a historical landscape determined by the decline of the social and cultural basis of the country because of the consequences of state violence. In such texts, the remembering of the barbarism executed by the military joined the formulation of poetics focused on the deconstruction of the authoritarian discourse as well as on the proposition of alternatives models.

We live in an era in which the Holocaust has become a universal trope of historic trauma. The Nazi genocide has come to be known as the greatest disaster of civilization and, as such, simply mentioning it or comparing it to other repressive events stirs or blocks meanings about specific events. In the case of Argentina, the resonance of the memory of the Holocaust penetrated the origins of the most recent military dictatorship. As early as the year 1976, external voices that denounced the regime for perpetrating genocide were heard publically around the world. This article analyzes some uses of the Holocaust during the military dictatorship in Argentina, questioning the ways in which the memory of the Holocaust stirred or blocked feelings and the collective imagination on the repressive regime's practices.

This essay analyses three contemporary Chilean films that propose fictional and documentary representations about Presidente Salvador Allende's life and political legacy. The hypothesis that guides the analysis states that these films question the overshadowed facet of Allende's figure within the cultural scene of the post-dictatorship. The work carried out three objectives. Firstly, analysing the utterance and compositional resources and strategies utilised to recreate Allende's private and public life. Secondly, looking into meanings conveyed by those resources and strategies. Thirdly, explaining how the film narratives dialogue with other social discourses by establishing questioning visions regarding the opacity of both Allende's figure and – more broadly – social memories about the UP's political experience. The corpus encompassed the following films: Salvador Allende (2004), by Patricio Guzmán, Allende en su laberinto [Allende in his labyrinth] (2014) by Miguel Littin and Allende mi abuelo Allende [Allende my grandfather Allende] (2015) by Marcia Tambutti.

Chilean society of the past two decades faced many challenges; one of the most urgent and cross-sectional was to achieve higher levels of justice, equity and social integration in post-dictatorship Chile. Along with these demands, there have been a number of other challenges which have risen in terms of emerging social issues requiring complex social interventions. Thus, strategies to deal with these problems should aim, on the one hand, to promote higher levels of integration and social inclusion, and on the other, to empower social actors from their everyday spaces in which it is possible to generate new forms of sociability and social management of their demands. In other words, the contemporary social intervention faces the ongoing challenge of contributing to the development of new horizons of ethical and political sense.
