The Covid-19 pandemic has further internalized and deepened the existing poverty. The economic crisis created by Covid-19 made it difficult to meet the basic needs (food, drink, shelter, etc.), and one of the areas where the effects were felt the most was education. This process was tried to be overcome with various solution methods such as distance education, but students faced access problems due to lack of support and infrastructure or financial inadequacies. With the new normalization, university students who are trying to be self-sufficient with the transition to face-to-face education have also experienced serious difficulties in housing due to the cost of living, which is a result of Covid-19. The aim of the study is to reveal whether student poverty deepens in this process. Student poverty was measured through a questionnaire on 356 undergraduate students studying at various faculties of Sakarya University. The collected questionnaires were analyzed using the SPSS V24 program. As a result, it has been determined that student poverty deepens in the field of basic needs (food/eating) and education, and faces risks such as hunger and inability to access basic needs. In addition, it was observed that the students could not reach the meat-chicken-fish food group, which is in the luxury food group and important for development, and they skipped meals a few days a week or almost every day. In addition, it has been determined that psychosocial support is not easily accessible, distance education creates reluctance to participate in education, and students see their reluctance as an obstacle created by distance education.

Dervishes were important figures who embraced asceticism, modesty, poverty, and patience as a way of living and played a key role in spreading Islam among the Turks. Culturally influential dervishes have been a common topic of research in many disciplines. In Sufi literature, dervishes are portrayed as nomads who advise people to be honest, have good morals, devote their lives on the path of truth, and are committed only to God. After the birth of orientalism in the West, which mainly focuses on the ever-fascinating East, dervishes appeared in different cultures and literature. For instance, in Russian culture and literature, dervishes are defined similarly but portrayed differently, depending on periods, conditions, and literary movements. However, the most potent example of a dervish notion, characterized by wisdom and mysticism, is Suhbat Aflatuni's "Clay Letters, Floating Apples." The author emphasizes the mystery of the East and the importance of being a perfect human being and conveys a profound life philosophy in his works. In this long story, the mystical dervish of the East reveals himself as a teacher. The dervish teacher comes to a village cursed by drought, poverty, and ignorance due to a cruel murder of a dervish a long time ago. He almost suffers the fate of the previous dervish, but divine powers help him complete his mission, and then he disappears. Aflatuni reflects all the aspects of the dervish image in his work and provides a unique example of intercultural interactions. This paper discusses the traces and intercultural similarities of mystical dervish images in Russian literature.

This study intends to investigate the concept of social capital on the basis of evidence provided by theoretical perspectives and empirical studies. Various definitions of social capital touch upon beliefs, values, networks, and trust by complicating the meaning and creating conceptual chaos. In addition to shaky conceptual foundations, methodological inadequacies are also framing numerous problems and challenges. Moreover, lack of power, class, race, gender etc. analysis in the literature makes it difficult to contribute to poverty alleviation. In this respect, first, the origins of the social capital, definition, and the development of the concept will be explored. The investigation of the role of the World Bank in the promotion of the concept and the empirical evidences will constitute second part of this work. It is argued here in order to foster mechanisms of development, social capital projects require broader, more collaborative, and innovative approaches.

Solid waste collectors play a key role in collecting domestic waste and recycling it. The negativities in the working environment and conditions of those who try to make a living by collecting solid waste affect their position in the social context. For this reason, in this study, the waste collection experiences of the actors in the solid waste collection sector were discussed. The economic and social disadvantages associated with their work were tried to be understood. In this qualitative study, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 20 participants (one of whom owns a waste sorting facility and two of whom are facility employees) who make a living by collecting solid waste in Ordu, Turkey. The sampling of the interviews was determined by sequential sampling. But there were also those who were determined by a little snowball sampling. The data collected through interviews were analyzed using descriptive and content analysis techniques. The findings of the study revealed the experiences of solid waste collectors and the challenges they face in the sector with their economic and social dimensions. In this way, ideas were obtained about the working conditions of solid waste collectors and their place in working life, migration experiences, poverty levels and stigma situations. It also allows policymakers to gain insight into improvements to waste collectors' working conditions and social status.
