L'«hôpital-entreprise». Une self-fulfilling prophecy avortée.

À la fin des années soixante-dix, la priorité donnée à l'humanisation et à la construction de nouveaux établissements hospitalisers s'efface devant l'impératif de maîtrise des coûts. La thématique de l'«hôpital-entreprise» devient alors le slogan d'une modernisation saisie par les discours économique et gestionnaire. Cependant, la «révolution» de la gestion hospitalière tant vantée se cantonne aux discours, aux textes législatifs et réglementaires, à la littérature spécialisée. La majorité des centres hospitaliers, au moins dans un premier temps se réfugie dans l'attentisme, malgré les incitations à adopter une gestion «moderne». A l'examen deux conditions de félicité du discours de l'hôpital-entreprise ont fait défaut : d'une part, les schèmes d'évaluation de la plupart des directeurs en poste ne les prédisposent pas à une grande familiarité avec les valeurs et les techniques du monde de l'entreprise ; d'autre part, les hôpitaux ont su s'adapter à la nouvelle donne budgétaire pour poursuivre leur stratégie autocentrée de diversification de la gamme de services médicaux.

Educational decisions made about students often have consequences for their subsequent employment and financial well-being, therefore it is imperative to determine whether teacher decisions are discriminatory. This study examines how factors such as race, class, and gender influence the decisions teachers make regarding Aboriginal students. The study demonstrates that teachers do attribute certain factors to Aboriginal students, which may influence students' classroom placement. Findings may help both sensitize teachers to the implications of their beliefs and biases as well as promote the development of policies and practices to eliminate biased decision-making. ; Les décisions éducatives concernant les étudiants ont souvent des conséquences sur leur emploi futur et leur bien-être financier. Par conséquent, il est impératif de déterminer si les décisions des enseignants sont discriminatoires. Cette étude examine comment des facteurs tels que la race, la classe sociale et le sexe influent sur les décisions des enseignants concernant les étudiants autochtones. L'étude démontre que certains facteurs peuvent effectivement jouer un rôle dans la prise de décisions des enseignants visant les étudiants autochtones, et ainsi influer sur le placement des élèves en classe. Les résultats peuvent aider à la fois à sensibiliser les enseignants aux implications de leurs convictions et de leurs préjugés, et à promouvoir le développement de politiques et de pratiques visant à éliminer la prise de décisions biaisées.

Politics and prophecy - islam and the western world
The relationship between religion and politics in Islam is often badly understood in the western world where thought is informed, consciously or not, by the separation of two principles, God and King. For Islam, prophecy is a dictate and not a testimony, as for Judeo-Christian tradition. As a result, it cannot be divided and the prophet or his representative is also at the head of the community. This is true for the great classics, such as al-Fārābi or Avicenna. The prophet, distinct from the ordinary man, is all the same a man of his time and of his environment. From there, in accordance with the principles of the Koran his policy will be tolerant and moderate. A parallel can be drawn between Ibn Khalduss and Machiavelli. Both are scholars and political practicians but they do not understand the relationship between politics and religion in the same way.

My study in my thesis is devoted to the study of the mind of the master of the Muslim philosophy al-Farabi in comparison with ancient Greek philosophy of Plato and Aristotle specifically. In my study I try to analyze the theological thought of al-Farabi was very influenced by Plato and Aristotle. In my analysis I have studied the effect of his effort to reconcile the two Greek philosophers while trying to keep the religious aspect of his thought that was very influenced by the Shiites. Thus, in the last chapter I tried to study the effect of his theology on his political vision in his idealism of the virtuous city. ; Ma thèse est consacrée à l'étude de la pensée du maitre de la philosophie musulmane al-Fârâbî en comparaison avec les deux philosophes grecques Platon et Aristote. Dans mon étude j'essais d'analyser la pensée théologique d'al-Fârâbî qui était très influencée par Platon et Aristote. Dans mon analyse j'ai pu étudier de l'effet de son effort pour concilier entre les deux philosophes grecques tout en essayant de garder l'aspect religieux de sa pensée qui était très influencée par les Shiites. Ainsi, au dernier chapitre j'ai essayé d'étudier l'effet de sa théologie sur sa vision politique dans son idéalisme de la cité vertueuse.

The Prophecy of Nesselrode - Reflections upon the Future for the Diplomatic Profession

In the past few years, the task of the diplomat has undergone profound modifications linked to changes affecting the diplomatic milieu. Diplomats no longer enjoy a monopoly on foreign policy and new constraints weigh heavily upon the profession. In future, in order to respond to these changes, diplomats must emphasize their general role, master new technologies and open themselves up to dialogue with other actors involved in foreign policy matters.

International audience ; Brazilian Pentecostalism in Africa: The Kingdom of God's Abstract Universality. — The expansion of the Pentecostal movement in the world, especially in Africa, is linked to its American origins and resources, even though African peoples have appropriated it in many forms over a long period of time. A network of religious exchanges exists among developing countries, for instance: the implantation of Korean or Brazilian denominations in African capitals. The (mainly urban) missio- nary strategies of the Universal Church of the Kingdom of God (a major neo- Pentecostal church in Brazil) are described. Rife with paradoxes, this church combines the inspiration of the Power of the Spirit with a Catholic model of church organization. Moreover, it combines a strategy based on visibility (street preaching) with a policy of secrecy and discretion. In the thriving marketplace for divine healing and deliverance, preachers from this church do not play at being scholars and even less at being the prophets of national reconciliation. They fully use dramatic tech- niques that make devils speak, and they claim to free Africa from its demons. The Kingdom of God's abstract, discreet universality does not, however, offer the same possibilities as African Pentecostal churches or the evangelical movement for identi- fying with a community and becoming involved in prophecy. ; L'expansion du mouvement pentecôtiste dans le monde et plus particulièrement en Afrique est généralement liée à ses origines et à ses ressources américaines, même si les formes de son appropriation par les populations africaines sont anciennes et multiples. Il existe cependant un réseau d'échange religieux Sud-Sud qui se traduit entre autres par l'implantation d'Églises coréennes ou brésiliennes dans les capitales africaines. Cet article fait le point sur les stratégies missionnaires, essentiellement urbaines, de l'Église Universelle du Royaume de Dieu, l'une des Églises néo- pentecôtistes les plus importantes du Brésil. Cette Église multiplie les paradoxes en conjuguant l'inspiration de la Puissance de l'Esprit et un modèle d'organisation épis- copal plutôt catholique, ou en associant une stratégie de visibilité, un prosélytisme de rue, et une politique du secret et de la discrétion. Sur le marché en pleine efferves- cence des pratiques de guérison divine et de délivrance, les pasteurs animateurs de l'Universelle ne jouent pas les « docteurs », et encore moins les « prophètes » de la Réconciliation nationale, mais ils utilisent pleinement les procédésd'une dramaturgie qui fait parler les diables et se propose de libérer l'Afrique de ses démons. L'universa- lité aussi abstraite que discrète sur laquelle ouvre le « Royaume de Dieu » n'offre pas cependant les mêmes possibilités d'identification communautaire et d'investissement prophétique que les Églises pentecôtistes africaines ou la mouvance évangélique internationale.

Many studies on apocalyptic predictions focus on devoted communities and question the effects of the non-occurrence of the announced end of the world. On the contrary, this article studies the introduction of an apocalyptic prophecy, first as a denunciation, and shows the key role played by the "waiting interval" between the enunciation and the announced date. The case studied is a small village in southern France named Bugarach. The mayor worries because the nearby mountain could be, according to -- never quoted -- websites, the only safe place when the end of the world comes, on December 21 2012. Laid out by Jacques Ion, the model of selected commitment is today socially obvious. It spreads out and justifies itself from actors to the observers. As a self-fulfilling prophecy, its asserts itself as a kind of militant common sense, which valorizes in the party an approach to militancy focused on the individual autonomy. The article shows that the model conceals the phenomenon of historical continuity and homogenizes the varied kinds of militant investing, yesterday and today. It also shows that the figure of the distant militant has become the legitimate representation of commitment in the socialist party.
