Recent forms of realism in continental philosophy that are habitually subsumed under the category of "speculative realism," a denomination referring to rather heterogeneous strands of philosophy, bringing together object-oriented ontology (OOO), non-standard philosophy (or non-philosophy), the speculative realist ideas of Quentin Meillassoux and Marxism, have provided grounds for the much needed critique of culturalism in gender theory, and the authority with which post-structuralism has dominated feminist theory for decades. This publication aims to bring forth some of the feminist debates prompted by the so-called "speculative turn," while demonstrating that there has never been a niche of "speculative realist feminism." Whereas most of the contributions featured in this collection provide a theoretical approach invoking the necessity of foregrounding new forms of realism for a "feminism beyond gender as culture," some of the essays tackle OOO only to invite a feminist critical challenge to its paradigm, while others refer to some extent to non-philosophy or the new materialisms but are not reducible to either of the two. We have invited essays from intellectual milieus outside the Anglo-Saxon academic center, bringing together authors from Serbia, Slovenia, France, Ireland, the UK, and Canada, aiming to promote feminist internationalism (rather than a "generous act of cultural inclusion").

In the parliamentary elections of 1955, French citizens had for the first time the possibility of taking an official political campaign through their radio and television stations. This revolution in political and media scene, however, remained rather confidential and polling took part only played on the air. Adapted from the source document.
The esthetic nature of the novel of Gabon is marked by two major influences : Realism and Oral tradition. Realism is firstly rooted in the geography and culture of the people. Looked at through the lens of "power" - we first see the influence of "political power" found in African literature since the period of independence in the 1960's, and from another angle that of "witchcraft" a recurrent theme in particular in Gabon novel. The recording of oral traditions is birthed from a place of "realism" with writers describing village life through the beliefs and rituals of the people. The place of "oral tradition" in the novel of Gabon is the second part of this study. "Oral tradition" encompasses all the rich wisdom of a people, transferred from ear to ear, from past generations through the ages. The transposition of "oral tradition" in the literature is a recording of the African oral universe made up of its beliefs and practices. There is from one side the desire to convey the traditions of a people, and from the other side, to expose the shortcoming of modern society. In the third part of this study, there is under-line through the ties between political power and witchcraft, a calling into question of traditional practices in modern society. Literature serves as a tool to analyse society, with some authors opting for a "hidden" denunciation through the use of writing styles, which offer a certain "security", especially during periods where it is not advisable to criticize the actions of political power. Others denounce through the depiction of "truth" or modern reality. The rehabilitation of society needs therefore to pass through the use of words that are forever a part of ancestral wisdom. His study focuses on the works of Russell Banks, Raymond Carver and Richard Ford. They started writing during the 1960s and 1970s, at a time when the self-reflexivity and metafictional play of postmodernist writers were drawing a lot of critical attention in academic circles. However, they consider themselves to be realist writers. In "A Few Words about Minimalism," John Barth suggested that the return to realist fiction in the mid-1970s could be both a reaction against so-called "postmodernist" fiction and a symptom of the social and economic unease of the period. Indeed, Cathedral, Continental Drift and The Sportswriter describe in accurate detail the everyday lives of ordinary American men and women during Reagan's presidency. This study demonstrates that these authors are part of the American realist tradition, but that their strand of social realism also takes into account the postmodern context in which they write, by dealing with problems of representation that are typical of the period. Their works both use and challenge the literary conventions associated with the realist tradition, by underlining the artificiality of mimetic illusion at a time when reality itself is seen as a linguistic construct.

The purpose of this work is to present a sociological analysis of the notion of political realism. Based on three complementary approaches, it offers a critical study of that multifaceted notion. The first approach starts from a history of political thought to try and delineate the emergence of the notion and its evolution. The perspective also aims at retracing the various sociological traditions and offshoots (the Italian, French and Anglo-Saxon branches) derived from it. In the context of historical sociology, the second approach seeks to illustrate the notion through the study of the French Socialist Party and its evolutions. Starting from the premise that political realism and socialism are initially contradictory, this socio-historical approach follows the way in which, by becoming institutionalized, the French Socialist Party has gradually relinquished part of its agenda for a transformation of society. Resting on a survey conducted between 2009 and 2010 with forty socialist militants from the Ile-de-France région, the third approach examines the notion of political realism in the light of the actual experiences and representations of the Party's active members. The study thus focuses both on the sense of disarray and aimlessness pervading militancy, and on the strategies of reenchantment and reformulation of socialism. This analysis allows to expose the political function of political realism. Under cover of neutrality, that function can be used to discredit the political ideas and practices which are considered as inadmissible. In that sense, political realism is rather an ideology of the end of political ideologies and alternatives, than an actual category for the analysis of politics ; Ce travail de thèse a pour objet une analyse sociologique de la notion de réalisme politique.
