This study explores the role of religion in engaging stakeholders in branding a place on social media and unmasks what implications this has for (re)constructing the three-dimensional meanings of a place brand. Using the content analysis method to examine the case of Saudi Arabia, it probes how the key stakeholder groups of the government and the residents structure and interact with the narratives of the cities—Jeddah and Riyadh—on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram. The results show the Islamic religion serves as a powerful tool for motivating the residents to engage in the government-led city branding initiatives at the individual level. However, the strategy of dwelling on religion to mobilize resident engagement at the individual level towards the social level with the aim of growing resources in support of social development should be reassessed within a dynamic social system. Theoretically, the proposed framework of religion city branding expands the scope of stakeholder engagement in place branding research through the integration with the driver of religion, especially unveiling how religious factors shape the personality traits of a place brand. It contributes to the practical sense that religious elements might be deployed by the key stakeholder groups of the government and residents in city branding initiatives, which potentially contributes to their relationship and the engagement of residents in co-creating a place brand with the government. This Saudi-focused study, therefore, possesses significance for place branding practices in Middle Eastern countries and beyond.

The focus of this article is to examine the process of Gus Dur's indigenousization of Islam as a response to the increasing phenomenon of religious formalization. This topic is considered important because it is an effort to keep local culture and traditions down to earth. Apart from that, the indigenousization of Islam is also a contra-naration against the conservative understanding of Islam which states that indigenous Islamic rituals are regarded as bid'ah, shirk or khurafat that must be rejected. This was raised because according to muslim fundamentalists, the religious practices of indigenous Muslims are opposite of the practices of salaf as-salih which conform Islam totality or kaffah and authentic Islam. In addition, the indigenousization of Islam emerged as a response to the phenomenon of the formalization of religion which leads to the commodification of religion by making religion as a sale value. This writing employes socio-descriptive method which has come to conclusions as follows. First, the indigenousization of Islam which was initiated by Gus Dur was the result of Gus Dur's long struggle with praxis in nature. Second, Arabization with its' formalization of religion has injured the diversity of the nation of the archipelago and opened up opportunities for the rise of ideological and political interests. Third, the common thread or root of the problem between conservative Islamic groups with their attitudes of formalizing religion and the indigenousization of Islam lies in the differences in understanding the values of Islamic normativity and culture.

The discussion about hate speech is not something new. However, recently it becomes phenomenon that widely spoken. As something that naturally comes out as a human nature. Nowadays hate speech tends to be harmful because it is supported by new media such as online media and social media. This research try to discuss about hate speech related to religion blasphemy accusation that drags, Basuki Tjahaya Purnama known as Ahok into jail. This paper used qualitative method and rhetoric analysis to analyze the hate speech in online media news related to Ahok's case. The results are, hate speech came from content posted in website such as online political opinion and news. From ethos aspect, most of the hate speech neglected the ethos aspect which provides the credibility and trustworthiness of the source.; from the pathos aspect, the author of the news are choosing words that triggered anger and negative emotion from its audience; from the logos aspect, most of the hate speech draws it's readers to logical fallacy due to the lackness of facts of its conclusion claim. The Hate speech rhetoric neglects the ethos and logos aspects and it mostly rely on pathos aspect to persuade its readers for hating.

The article presents the experience of comparing the results of online and offline surveys conducted by the authors as part of a study of the attitude of youth of the Krasnoyarsk Territory to religious issues according to a single method in 2021. Sample aggregates of online and offline surveys were reduced to an identical structure by a weighting procedure by the following sociodemographic characteristics: gender, age, city. As a result of the comparative analysis, the authors conclude that the presence or absence of differences between online and offline samples is significantly influenced by the nature of the questions. Thus, questions involving the identification of the respondent's personal emotional attitude to any phenomenon provide statistically significant shifts towards more socially desirable assessments, and in questions focused on measuring the respondent's external assessment of any phenomenon, statistically significant differences in answers are mainly not observed.

Cet article analyse l'image des trois religions abrahamites dans les programmes politiques récents du Front National en la comparant avec celle créée par d'autres partis d'extrême droite populiste de pays de l'Union Européenne appartenant à l'Europe occidentale continentale et à la Scandinavie qui ont été couronnés d'un certain succès lors des élections récentes. Il sera montré que, même si l'on peut constater une convergence quant à l'image négative créée de l'islam ainsi que dans la tendance d'éviter un antisémitisme ouvert, il y a, toutefois, des différences en ce qui concerne le judaïsme et/ou Israël et le poids attribué au christianisme dans la culture nationale et/ou européenne. On y peut observer des parallèles intéressants avec les traditions discursives nationales ainsi que l'histoire de ces partis d'extrême droite. ; This article analyses the image of the three abrahamic religions in the recent political programs of the French Front National (2012 und 2017) in a comparative perspective with other successful populist radical right-wing parties in EU-Countries of continental Western and Northern Europe. Adriaan Reland (1676-1718), Arabist, Cartographer, Antiquarian and Scholar of Comparative Religion covers the intellectual achievements of a remarkable man: Adriaan Reland, professor of Oriental languages (1701) and Hebrew Antiquities (1713) at the University of Utrecht from 1701 to 1718. Although he never travelled beyond the borders of his home country, he had an astonishingly broad worldview. The contributions in this volume illuminate Reland's many accomplishments and follow his scholarly trajectory as an Orientalist, a linguist, a cartographer, a poet, and a historian of comparative religions. Reland, although a devout Protestant, believed that religions should be examined objectively on their own terms with the help of reliable and authentic documents, which would dispel the prejudices of the past.. An examination of ethical challenges confronting televangelists as a result of the internal contradictions of condemning modernity while using modern technology & methods of social organization to achieve their purposes. Use of the TV requires enormous income, which in turn forces televangelists to act in economically determined ways to raise capital: (1) bait & switch techniques -- soliciting donations for a special mission activity & switching the funds to cover other expenses; (2) last ditch appeals for donations; & (3) persuasion & salesmanship both for tangible products, eg, Bibles & crosses, & intangible products such as claims of their own success, spiritual services, & God's blessing of salvation. Market pressures also affect the content of theology, most generally in the construction of a bland, lowest-common-denominator version of Protestantism.
