El presente estudio indaga en las representaciones sociales sobre la libertad de expresión del profesorado de Ciencias Sociales en formación inicial. La temática de la libertad de expresión se trata como una cuestión socialmente viva. El profesorado de Ciencias Sociales debe desarrollar determinadas capacidades críticas relacionadas con la libertad de opinión y de información dentro de unos límites de respeto a la pluralidad y a la dignidad humana, como un aspecto imprescindible en la educación para una ciudadanía democrática. El estudio se realiza en el contexto de una universidad privada en Santiago de Chile. Se trata de una investigación cualitativa con diferentes instrumentos de investigación. Dos de estos instrumentos son actividades diversas y la narrativa biográfica. Nos parece importante profundizar en cómo los y las participantes de la investigación entienden y llevan a la práctica (pedagógica y social) la libertad de expresión, no solo como futuros profesores y profesoras, sino también como ciudadanos y ciudadanas. Es relevante conocer cómo se está formando este futuro profesorado de Ciencias Sociales en cuanto a Derechos Humanos y educación para la ciudadanía democrática. También se profundiza en las experiencias de vida de los y las participantes, respecto a sus vivencias positivas y negativas sobre la libertad de expresión. Palabras clave: Libertad de expresión; formación inicial del profesorado; representaciones sociales; narrativas biográficas; didáctica de las ciencias sociales. ; The present study investigates the social representations about freedom of expression of Social Sciences teachers in initial training. The subject of freedom of expression is treated as a socially alive issue. Social Sciences teachers must develop certain critical capacities related to freedom of opinion and information, within limits of respect for plurality and human dignity, as an essential aspect in education for a democratic citizenship. The study is carried out in the context of a private university in Santiago de Chile. This is qualitative research with different research tools. Two of these instruments are diverse activities and the biographical narrative. Regarding the research problem, it is important to deepen in how the participants of the research understand and put into practice (pedagogical and social) the freedom of expression, not only as future teachers, but also as citizens. It is relevant to know how this future Social Sciences teachers are being trained, in terms of Human Rights and education for democratic citizenship. Given recently-renewed interest in the political union between Scotland and England, it will be the purpose of this paper to investigate the way in the politically-charged early modern English stage engaged with and represented Scotland and Scots both prior to and following the first iteration of union: that of the countries' crowns. Consequently, investigation will focus on Robert Greene's remarkably ahistorical The Scottish History of James the Fourth (c1590) and John Ford's Perkin Warbeck (c1634). Commonalities in both plays certainly exist – not least the theatrical representation of Scotland's early-Renaissance king (albeit with wildly differing degrees of historical accuracy). In both plays one finds competing narratives of dominance, division, unity, nationalism, unionism, assimilation, resistance, might and weakness. Yet the plays also offer alternative views of history and British union, with Greene's largely-fictional, teleological study considering the inevitability of monarchical union and the necessity of English-based dominance (via the collapsing of the historical with the contemporary), and Ford meditating historically on thirty years of that union, positing the imperfections of unified and centralised polity across the British Isles, and raising questions about military might at home versus political might on the European stage. As the early modern theatre's views of history shifted, so too did views of Scotland. Through these plays, one can identify the nation as a potentially problematical neighbour to be secured by English chastisement and one of several British regions possessed of dangerously independent military might but lacking the political might reserved to the English capital

Disability Studies and Spanish Culture is the first book to apply the tenets of Disability Studies to the Spanish context. In particular, this work is an important corrective to existing cultural studies of disability in Spain that tend to largely ignore intellectual disabilities. Taking on the representation of Down syndrome, autism, alexia/agnosia as well as childhood disability, its chapters combine close readings of a number of Spanish cultural products (films, novels, the comic/graphic novel and the public exhibition) with a broader socio-cultural take on the state of disability in Spain. While researchers and students of cinema will be particularly interested in the book's detailed analyses of the formal aspects of the films, comics, and novels discussed, readers from backgrounds in history, political science and sociology will all be able to appreciate discussions of contemporary legislation, advocacy groups, cultural perceptions, models of social integration and more.

Nationalism in sub-Saharan Africa « imagines » a homogenous national identity embedded in the mythology of African uniqueness, which represents the woman symbol of cultural roots (the "Mother Africa "trope). This study analyses how the sub-Saharan female novelist (the woman as a mute, extra-historical and apolitical object of culture) appropriates African nationalism (re-imagines the nation) to define a new identity for African womanhood. The study tests the hypothesis that a marginal subject reveals itself in "border location" according to its similarity or difference to dominant subjects. It analyses political nationality (citizenship), cultural nationality (Africanness), and their interaction within the representation of female national identity. And They Didn't Die and Nehanda evoke liberation movements in South Africa and Zimbabwe to recontextualise women's cultural affiliation (the woman "pot of culture)" between tradition and modernity. Matins de couvre-feu and L'Ex-père de la nation depict the post-independence disillusionment of Senegal and the Ivory Coast to subvert the dichotomy of public and private spheres which construct a male centred State (the "Father of the Nation") and the woman-centred "domestic" sphere. We introduced and realized with our MuVarch approach an heterogeneous (meta)modeling environment for multi-view representation of heterogeneous embedded architectures (of "smartphone" type for instance). In addition to the backbone architectural view supporting others, we considered performance, power, and thermal view. We introduced also the functional applicative view, to provide typical use cases for the architecture. It was important to describe in MuVarch our various views would connect to the basic one, and how they would mutually relate together as well (how temperature depends on power consumption for instance). The global objective was to let the framework consider alternative mapping/allocation strategies for applicative tasks on architectural resources (although the definition of such strategies themselves was out of the scope). The appropriate form of such an allocation relation, which may be quite involved, was thus an important aspect of this thesis. ; Nous avons défini et réalisé avec l'approche MuVarch un environnement de (méta-)modélisation orientée vers la représentation multi-vues des architectures embarquées hétérogènes (de type "smartphone" par exemple). The article presents a characterization of the political culture from an analysis of correlations between images and representations that the students at the Universidad de Antioquia have on the social system, their actions in the political field and the image they have of the political system. The analysis offers an approximation to the perceptions of democracy and the political institutions of representation, control and participation in it. From a survey to a representative sample of students, professors and administrative employees, it is concluded that, while there is broad acceptance of democracy as a general idea in normative terms, this acceptance is weakened when university students not merely value democracy but undertake a critical evaluation of the way in which the Colombian democracy works. Moreover, it could be inferred that two matrices or constellations of political culture coexist in this political universe: one that values democratic procedures and mechanisms, and another one that is prone to dispense with substantial elements for the functioning of a democracy. ; El artículo presenta una caracterización de la cultura política a partir de un análisis de correlaciones entre las imágenes y representaciones que tienen los universitarios sobre el sistema social, sus acciones en el ámbito político y la imagen que poseen del sistema político. Toma como caso la Universidad de Antioquia y ofrece una aproximación a las percepciones de la democracia y las instituciones políticas de representación, de control y de participación en ella. A partir de una encuesta a una muestra representativa de estudiantes, profesores y empleados administrativos se concluye que, si bien hay una amplia aceptación de la democracia como idea general en términos normativos, este presupuesto se debilita cuando se pasa del plano valorativo a su materialización, es decir, los universitarios realizan una evaluación crítica del funcionamiento de la democracia colombiana. Adicionalmente, se pudo inferir que en este universo político coexisten dos matrices o constelaciones de cultura política: una que valora los procedimientos y mecanismos democráticos y otra que se muestra proclive a prescindir de elementos sustanciales para el funcionamiento de una democracia.
