本文旨在衡量风险投资对中国上市企业估值的影响。以IPO初始回报率及其波动性为指标,通过时间序列分析方法,控制企业及市场变量,对此影响做了详细地衡量和分析。主要的结论有,中国的风险投资公司较为年轻,更注重声誉的建立以为其自身后续投资活动吸引资金,其对初始回报率的正影响大于风险投资对减少估值中的不信息对称的作用而体现在对初始回报率的负影响。进一步的分析显示,无风险投资支持的企业初始回报率总体上对市场宏观变量更为敏感,而自身企业变量对初始回报率,估值难度不产生影响。对于有风险投资支持的企业,其企业变量对初始回报率,估值难度产生影响,而其估值复杂性受宏观市场变量的影响较小。表明中国的风险投资公司也起到了估值导向的作用,减轻了估值中的信息不对称情况。最后,本文为投资者,政府部门提供了一些建议。 ; This thesis attempts to measure the influence of venture capital (VC) on the complexity of valuation in China. Taking the initial return and its volatility as indices, firm- and market- specific factors were controlled for and a detailed time series analysis was conducted to concretely test such influence. The main findings suggest that VC firms in China are young and greatly value reputation. The effect of effective authentication agents that reduce information asymmetry is countered by firm's desire to build up reputation. Further study shows that market-specific characteristics of non-VC backed firms are more closely correlated to their initial returns than that of VC-backed firms; that corporate fundamentals play a more important role in valuation for VC-backed firms than their counterparts. This indicates that, besides the eagerness to build reputation, VC firms in China still act as authentication agents and reduce the complexity of valuation. Suggestions are raised for investors and governments. Investors in the Chinese primary stock market should buy into IPOs without VC-backing to achieve a high initial return, whereas capitalists, who seek to fund startups, should choose startups with VC-backing as they are better-positioned for a potential IPO. In the past two decades, China has achieved world renown for reducing rural poverty. However, it is becoming harder to reduce poverty and inequality further in China, even though its economy continues to grow. This report compares the impact specific rural public investments can have on promoting growth and reducing poverty and inequality. Returns to these investments are calculated for the nation as a whole and for three economic zones in the west, central, and coastal regions of the country. Government expenditures that have the highest impact on poverty and growth include education, agricultural research and development, and rural infrastructure (roads, electricity, and telecommunications). Notably, spending on irrigation and anti-poverty loans had minimal impact. The report discusses the implications of these findings for setting future priorities for government investment. It also suggests avenues for future research and calls for a better understanding of how to improve the effectiveness of public resources. 公共事務知識對許多政治過程都有至關重要的意義。通過獲取公共事務知識,個體公民得以認清切身利益,並由此與公共生活形成一種認識論上的聯系。了解公共事務,也是公民進行有效協商和政治參與的前提。盡管西方政治傳播文獻對此多有探討,中國語境下的"知識獲取"研究卻相對匱乏。中國的媒介環境正處於劇烈變革之中:盡管國家管控依然存在,但市場化改革不斷深入,近年來互聯網逐漸跃升为信息交換、意見表達與社會動員的主流平台。媒介環境的變遷為研究"知識獲取"提供了意義豐富的語境。 ; 本研究旨在探索中國大學生通過不同傳播渠道獲取公共事務知識的机制。本研究的實證數據來源於一項針對北京、上海和廣州在校大學生的問卷調查。調查共收回1,135份有效問卷,回收率為78%。該研究使用多元回歸分析與觀察變量通經分析(Path analysis with observed variables)對樣本數據進行分析。 ; 本研究的主要發現有三個方面。首先,數據顯示新媒體渠道(如新聞網站和社交媒體)或已經開始取代傳統媒體渠道(如報紙和電視),成為最常規的新聞源。新聞獲取模式的改變,進一步導致不同媒介"致知"效果的變化。與以往研究不同,本研究發現新媒體新聞曝露可以增加使用者的公共事務知識,但傳統媒體的新聞曝露卻沒有類似效果。面對面的交談可以增加人們的公共事務知識和政治信息效能。然而社交媒體討論只能增加人們的政治信息效能,卻對實際的知識獲取沒有貢獻。 ; 其次,本研究認為,檢測媒介的"致知"效果時,將媒介使用操作化為"媒介注意力"並不一定優於"媒介曝露"。孰優孰劣取決於我們所關注的媒體類型。結果顯示,"媒介曝露"能更好地檢測新媒體對知識獲取的影響,而"媒介注意力"則更有效地檢測傳統媒體對知識獲取的影響。這個區別並不只是一個技術問題,它關涉到知識獲取研究的理論假設。不同操作化所帶來的效果區別,可能與媒介使用模式的變化以及媒介使用時信息處理模式的改變有所關聯。 ; 第三,中國公共事務知識的生產與傳播是一個政治建構的過程。媒介管控與互聯網治理則是這個建構過程的重要機制。主流媒體供給"主流知識"並以其構建一個關於社會現實的"主流認知"。研究發現,事實上還存在一部分"另類知識"。中國的媒介體系推廣"主流知識"並且減少"另類知識"流通。本研究同時發現,盡管存在管控,新媒體渠道可以散播"另類知識"。 ; Public affairs knowledge plays a vital part in many political processes. By gaining public affairs knowledge, individual citizens discern their own interests and concerns, thus epistemologically connecting themselves to public life. Knowledge about public affairs is also a prerequisite for effective deliberation and political engagement. Though it has attracted much attention in Western political communication scholarship, knowledge acquisition has not been fully extended to the context of China. Few studies have examined public affairs knowledge in China's rapidly transitioning, yet still controlled, media environment, where the Internet has lately risen to be a dominant platform for information exchange, opinion expression, and social mobilization. ; This study explores how people can gain knowledge about public affairs through different communication channels in China's complex media environment. 武舉常科創自武曌(則天),長安二年(702)始設。歷後各朝,除元代不開武科,宋、金、明三代偶有停罷,武科相沿一千二百年,幾與文科相埒。職是之故,近世中國之造士與選士,於文科、儒學、儒經、文廟一系之外,另有武科、武學、武經、武廟一系。兩系雖各有輕重,然並駕駢行千餘載,交互制衡,以保政治之平穩暢達。 ; 入關伊始,清廷即詔令因襲前明舊制,開設文武科考。自順治二年(1645)開科鄉試,至光緒二十七年(1901)正式廢除,清代武科持續運作二百五十餘年,幾與王朝相伴始終。清代武科之主要層級同於文科,皆始於童試,繼而鄉試、會試,終於殿試。各級武考中式者,亦相應得授武生員、武舉人、武進士出身。武科各級考試,均分別外場、內場進行,以外場試武藝,內場試文藝。錄取權衡時外場重於內場,外場技藝之中,馬、步箭及開弓又重於舞刀、掇石。 ; 清代武科之制度設計及考試內容,延續中國歷代選士「文武合一」之一貫理想,然現實中卻文武殊途。清代武科之設計與運作,既體現旗民之別,八旗內部又有滿蒙與漢軍之別、京旗與駐防之別。武科之正面影響遠不及文科,然文武科考皆為常規掄才途徑,兩者所揭櫫清代政局大勢與掄才需求之變化,實際異曲同工。通過文武兩途考選,清代科考人才之宏觀佈局,呈現南方文風熾盛、北方技勇突出之特徵。武進士之初始授職,以皇宮侍衛及地方營、衛守備為主,然武科選途清初即病壅滯,實授遷轉甚難。 ; 清廷之復武科,宣稱旨在遴選「干城之才」,以為「腹心之寄」。然武科內場考試,自乾隆朝廢止《四書》,嘉慶朝盡廢論、策之試,改為默寫《武經》,日漸形同虛設。武科士子之文化素養,亦日益下降。武科外場所試技藝,係屬展示表演,而非對抗實戰。而且,自乾隆間改試鳥槍之議被禁,外場各項冷兵器技藝考核陳陳相因,與實際戰局日漸疏離。職是之故,清代中期以降,武科越益頹化為授予功名之儀式與恩榮,而非掄才要徑、晉身要途。武進士初始授職之品級,雖遠較文進士為高,然武科出身之仕途前景與政治影響遠不及文科。更有甚者,武科內、外場不僅弊情嚴重,不少武科士子更危害一方,成為地方社會亂源,大悖設科初衷。 ; 清代武科出身雖有功勳卓著、官居高位者,然究屬鳳毛麟角,且集中於清代初中期。整體而論,這套幾乎橫貫全國、縱跨全清之掄才制度,得材甚少。其對帝國整體軍事力量,亦鮮少實質促進。然武科之存續,仍有平衡文武、調劑滿漢之功用,清廷既可藉此驅策雙方、維持動態均勢,又可以之宣示恩典威權、籠絡地方。因此,清代武科雖然實效不彰,卻又相沿不輟。必至清末內憂外患之鉅變衝擊,始與文科相繼停廢。復因武科之影響遠不及文科,故廢除武科所致近代中國社會之震盪,亦不可與停廢文科同日而語。 ; Established by Empress Wu in 702, the imperial military examination system lasted, albeit having been suspended in the entire Yuan dynasty and in part of the Song, Jin and Ming dynasties occasionally, for 1200 years, which was nearly as long as the period of existence of the imperial civil examination system. In effect, the military examination system, associated with military schools, military classics and military temples, functioned as a mechanism parallel to the civil examination and its related institutions (i.e., Confucian schools, Confucian classics and Confucian temples) for cultivating and recruiting talents in late imperial China. 香港在主流革命史學的敘述中一般被認為是推動辛亥革命的「搖籃」,但在革命黨人之外的社會大眾,對「革命」究竟有怎樣的取態?《香港華字日報》是這段時期香港銷量最大的華文報紙,仔細考察該報創辦的歷史及其1909-1913年的政治取態,可見該報是華商陳氏家族的一份現代產業,並無黨派認同,報紙內容與宗旨也頗具現代傳媒的新聞專業主義色彩,強調「中立」而較少傳統「文人論政」情懷。 ; 本文選取1909-1913年的《香港華字日報》,剖析這五年的報紙中與「革命」相關的內容細節,認為這份報紙對「革命」並非積極推動,取態反而偏於保守,並順應時勢而調整:辛亥前報紙展現的「革命」介於傳統和現代之間,既是「犯上作亂」的傳統造反,又是謀求民族獨立、政治改良的現代革命;而辛亥之後,報紙不滿意革命黨建立的地方政府,轉而支持中央而強烈反對革命黨的「二次革命」。這樣的取態既反映了部份以往未得到充分審視的社會輿論,也與報紙自身的立場及處境有關。 ; Hong Kong is understood as the "birthplace" of the 1911 Revolution in mainstream studies of the Chinese Revolution. But besides the revolutionaries, how did ordinary people understand "revolution"? Wah Tsz Yat Po was the most widely circulated Chinese language newspaper in Hong Kong during the period concerned. The thesis is an in-depth study of the newspaper's founding history and its political stance during 1909-1913. It is found that the newspaper was a modernised property owned by the Chan family in Hong Kong. It did not have political affiliations. Its content and objectives showed the newspaper's emphasis on journalistic professionalism that was similar to that held by modern day mass media, preferring "neutrality" over the tradition of providing political comments. ; The thesis closely examines the content of Wah Tsz Yat Po that was related to revolution during 1909-1913. It proposes that the newspaper did not play an active role in promoting revolution. Its stance was rather conservative instead and changed in accordance with political developments. Before the revolution of 1911, the newspaper regarded "revolution" as something between tradition and modernity. It was understood as a "rebellion against the authorities" in the traditional sense and also as a way to attain national independence and political reform in the modern sense. After 1911, the newspaper was against the local government set up by the revolutionists. 經歷十三年風雨,香港樓價再創歷史新高。有云:「禍兮福所倚」,業主得益於財富增長的同時,亦擔心高速增長埋下泡沫爆破的伏線。因樓價高企,年青人置業困難,社會不滿亦日漸升溫。 ; 在國際貨幣基金組織出言警告後,香港金融管理局連同財政司相繼推出措施如額外印花稅,以及收緊不同物業種類的按揭上限,希望保持樓市健康及穩定發展。一石激起千重浪,政策推出後輿論不絶,但至今仍未有人以嚴謹的邏輯推論分析新政策的影響。本文以Stein (1995)的模型作藍本,稍作修改,以分析新政對樓價的影響。 ; 按照文中模型計算,於當前經濟環境下,新措施確能維持樓市健康及穩定發展。額外印花稅能壓抑樓價時,收緊不同物業種類的按揭上限能保持樓價平穩。理論模型同時指出,兩樣政策都不是萬能丹,政府於調控樓市時應先評估當前經濟基礎,否則有機會事與願違。 ; House price in Hong Kong is reaching its historical high. People start to worry a sudden drop of house price as what they had experienced in year 1997. Social disputes emerged and the Hong Kong government has taken several measures in reaction. Policies such as the Multi-down payment constraint by the HKMA and special stamp duty by the Financial Secretary are implemented in response to the soaring house price. The Media and the general public are keen to explore the effects and the consequences of the policies. However, little effort has been done to study the impact of the enacted policy in a systematic way. ; This thesis augmented the model developed by Stein (1995) to examine the housing price behavior of Hong Kong. Simulation results justified the government's policies. SSD helps to lower the house price while multi-down payment policy helps to stabilize the house price.
