L'obiettivo di questo lavoro è (ri)costruire il processo di emergenza del campo di ricerca dei "Science and Technology Studies" (STS) come risultato di una complessa opera di negoziazioni disciplinari. In funzione di questo obiettivo, abbiamo elaborato una metodologia che abbiamo battezzato come "Socio-epistemologia storica". Dal punto di vista storico, questa tesi di dottorato propone una dettagliata ricostruzione del processo di emergenza del campo interdisciplinare degli STS fra gli anni '60 e la metà degli anni '80 (grazie anche a ricerche d'archivio e storia orale). In primo luogo, ci siamo occupati di tracciare alcune traiettorie intellettuali, accademiche e socio-politiche in funzione di una disamina delle condizioni di possibilità dell'emergere di tale campo (fra gli anni '30 e gli anni '60). Nel capitolo seguente abbiamo invece proposto una cartografia dei principali centri di ricerca e programmi pedagogici nei principali casi nazionali come: U.K., U.S., Francia, Repubblica democratica tedesca, Repubblica federale tedesca, Austria, e Paesi Bassi. Infine, un ulteriore capitolo è invece dedicato alla ricostruzione della nascita delle prime reti di ricerca internazionali (società e associazioni professionali) in ambito STS. I risultati di questa ricerca storica sono stati interpretati e organizzati tramite il framework della "sociologia dei campi accademici" e della "sociologia della conoscenza". A completare la nostra disamina, l'approccio filosofico ha reso possibile un'analisi epistemologica basata sui concreti processi storici e sociali di negoziazione disciplinare che hanno reso possibile il programma di ricerca interdisciplinare degli STS. In questo senso, abbiamo sostenuto che le frontiere disciplinari nelle scienze sociali siano al contempo elaborate socialmente, tramite un lungo processo di negoziazione storica, e sulla base di rivendicazioni epistemiche. ; The aim of this work is to (re)construct the emergence process of the "Science and Technology Studies" (STS) field, as a result of broad disciplinary negotiations (especially between history of science, sociology of science and philosophy of science). In order to achieve this, I proposed an integrated methodology that I labelled "Socio-Historical Epistemology". From the historical point of view, my Ph.D thesis provides a detailed survey of the academic emergence of the "STS" interdisciplinary field, from the 60s to the mid 80s (made also through archive research and oral history). First of all, I traced some intellectual, academical and socio-political trajectories, in order to explain the conditions of the emergence of this field (from the 30s to the 60s). In the following chapter I proposed a cartography of the major research units and pedagogical programs in U.K., U.S., France, German Democratic Republic, Federal Republic of Germany, Austria and Netherlands. Finally, another chapter is dedicated to the professional and international societies in STS. The results of this historical inquiry have been interpreted and organised through the framework of the "sociology of scientific fields" and the "sociology of knowledge". Furthermore, the philosophical approach has made possible an epistemological analysis of both the historical and the sociological genesis and development of the interdisciplinary context of research of the "STS". In this sense I argued that disciplinary boundaries in social sciences are, at the same time, diachronically constructed and reconstructed, through a collective process of controversies and negotiations and due to epistemological claims.

The trend is towards a positive transgression of previous boundaries, and scholars have shifted attention from the disciplinary approach to the transdisciplinaryand inter-disciplinary research. This paper offers a first reflection on the long-term relationships between Africanist studies and studies on Berber literature by taking into account conjunctures and disjunctures in the complex construction of the geographical and cultural notions of (and divide between) 'Africa' and 'North Africa'.The aim is to understand specificity and continuity of the relationship betweenBerber studies and Africanist studies in Italy when compared to international studies.Looking at the Italian studies of Berber literature, one finds a strong influence of the linguistic and philological approaches. Moreover, one recognizes the tendency of the studies to look 'East' rather than 'South' in establishing their cultural and political framework of reference. On the other hand, studies that give attention to new developments in Berber written literature spring usually from African 'post-colonial' literary studies. However, the situation is also evolving in the specific field of Italian Berber studies.

As the investment expectations for EdTech businesses have been growing during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, there is a need to reflect critically about the pedagogical implications of trends like datafication, platformisation and technological solutionism. Recently, social science fiction has been used to stimulate critical, sociological imagination about the future uses of educational technology (Macgilchrist et al., 2020; Selwyn et al., 2020). This paper expands the use of social science fiction for the current Italian context as a method for critical analysis in research and in teacher education. Two vignettes are developed to illustrate two scenarios of possible configurations of educational technology within primary schools in the year 2026. It is shown how opposite technological configurations manifest different under- lying pedagogical assumptions regarding children and teacher agency, literacy and the politics of knowledge. By relating the use of educational media to issues of pedagogy and didactics, writing and discussing social science fiction provides a significant opportunity to promote reflexive uses of technology in education. ; Con l'apparizione del COVID-19 e la DaD a livello globale il settore EdTech (educational technology) celebra nuove opportunità di investimento e di crescità. This volume contains the results of some studies presented by Egyptian and Italian scholars at the International Conference "Peacebuilding between East and West XI-XVI c.", organized in Cairo on, October 27, 2016 by the Egyptian Unity of research, as part of the academic activities of the Bilateral Project "History of Peace-building: peaceful relations between East and West (11th - 15th century)" carried out jointly by the Institute of the Mediterranean EuropeHistory of the CNR (Italy), and the University of Damanhour. The project is totally funded by the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (ASRT)(1) of the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Italian National Research Council (CNR)(2).The purpose of the Bilateral Project - and even of the aforementioned International Conference- is to carry out research in order to examine through the study of different types of documentary and narrative sources; the nature, quantity and quality of peaceful relations between Christians and Muslims in a geographical area extending from the Iberian Peninsula to the Levantin a chronological interval between the eleventh and the fifteenth centuries. Una dura critica all'approccio definito "Analisi dell'impatto sociale" o "Analisi del benessere sociale", sorto recentemente nel campo dell'antropologia dello sviluppo, e avanzata da Gutkind in questo saggio.L'autore considera lo "sviluppo", a cui con confuso liberalismo si rivolge l'interesse degli antropologi, estraneo alle masse beneficiarie. La logica capitalistica e gli obiettivi capitalistici sono mascherati sotto iniziative e opportunità locali. Condanna quindi l'ideologia dello sviluppo che finora ha ispirato gli obiettivi delle politiche di sviluppo adottate nel Terzo Mondo e denuncia il coinvolgimento degli antropologi, quali professionisti dello sviluppo, in questo "gioco". Addirittura aberrazioni sono definite dall'autore i concetti proposti dall' "Analisi dell'impatto sociale", ultimo prodotto di quell'ideologia dello sviluppo che egli ulteriormente condanna in quanto riflette l'ideologia del professionalismo, del carrierismo, dell'intellettualismo di falsa tradizione umanistica.Gutkind propone quindi di affrontare i problemi relativi allo sviluppo dei paesi del Terzo Mondo con una prospettiva radicalmente diversa, attraverso cioè concettualizzazioni e metodologie proprie della storia sociale. Solo l'approccio della storia sociale con impostazione marxista permette una valutazione ed un'analisi degli effetti dell'incorporazione di paesi a basso reddito in un sistema complesso dominato dal capitalismo. Solamente adottando un orientamento storico sociale si può far luce su questi importanti problemi, offuscati invece da modelli come le "Analisi di impatto sociale", garantendo inoltre la sopravvivenza dell'antropologia altrimenti destinata a scomparire.

Attraverso un excursus storico, teorico e metodologico, questa tesi di dottorato analizza la nascita, gli sviluppi e l'attuale dimensione costitutivo-identitaria dei Performance Studies, un ambito di ricerca accademica che, nato negli Stati Uniti alla fine degli anni Settanta, ha sempre palesato una natura restia nei confronti di qualunque tentativo definitorio. Se i Performance Studies concepiscono la performance sia come oggetto d'analisi sia come lente metodologica, e se, come evidenziato da Richard Schechner, praticamente tutto può essere "elevato a performance" e quindi indagato secondo le categorie analitiche di questa disciplina, ecco allora che, con uno slittamento transitivo e "meta-metodologico", questa ricerca dottorale ha scelto come proprio oggetto di studio i Performance Studies stessi, osservandoli "as performance" e avvalendosi degli strumenti metodologici suggeriti dal suo stesso oggetto d'analisi. Questo lavoro indaga come l'oggetto di studio dei Performance Studies sia, seguendo la teoria schechneriana, il "behaved behavior", e dunque come di conseguenza, il repertorio, prima ancora che l'archivio, possa essere considerato il fedele custode delle "pratiche incorporate". Soffermandosi su esempi di "reenactment" performativo come quelli messi in atto da Marina Abramović e Clifford Owens, così come sui tentativi condotti dalla sezione dell'Intangible Cultural Heritage dell'UNESCO, suggerisce validi esempi di "archiviazione" della performance. L'elaborato prende poi in esame casi che esemplificano la proficua identificazione tra "studiare performance" e "fare performance", sottolinea il ruolo cruciale e imprenscindibile determinato dal lavoro di ricerca sul campo inteso come "osservazione partecipante", ed evidenzia il costante coinvolgimento sociale e politico assunto dai Performance Studies. Questa dissertazione affronta e supporta l'efficacia dei Performance Studies nel proporsi come uno strumento innovativo in grado di analizzare un mondo sempre più performativo nelle sue dinamiche. La loro natura tanto interdisciplinare quanto interculturale sembra farne una lente adeguata attraverso cui promuovere livelli diversi di performance dialogica tra culture localmente distinte ma globalmente assimilabili. ; Through a historical, theoretical and methodological excursus, this thesis analyzes the birth, development and current identity of Performance Studies, an academic research field that, born in the United States at the end of the Seventies, has always been reluctant towards any attempt to be defined. If Performance Studies conceives performance both as an object of analysis and as a methodological lens, and if, as pointed out by Richard Schechner, everything can be studied "as" performance and so investigated according to the analytical categories of this discipline, then, with a transitive and "meta- methodological" shift, this doctoral research takes Performance Studies as its object of study, observing it "as performance" and using the same methodological tools suggested by its object of analysis. This work investigates how the object of study of Performance Studies is, following Schechner's theory, the "behaved behavior", and thus how, as a result, the repertoire, even before the archive can be regarded as the true custodian of "embodied practices". Focusing on examples of performative "reenactment" such as those by Marina Abramović and Clifford Owens, as well as on the efforts undertaken by the UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage section, it suggests valid examples of "archiving performance". The paper then examines cases that exemplify the successful identification of "studying performance" and "doing performance", it underlines the crucial and inescapable role played by the on-field research, understood as "participant observation", and highlights the constant social and political commitment of Performance Studies. This dissertation addresses and supports the effectiveness of Performance Studies in itself as an innovative tool able to analyze a world increasingly performative in its dynamics. Thanks to its both interdisciplinary and intercultural nature, Performance Studies seems to be a proper lens through which to promote different levels of performance dialogue among cultures which are locally different but globally comparable.

On tracing the radical revisionism of American Studies' cultural and methodological paradigms, this intervention will specifically investigate the multicultural and transnational turn of the field, whose material and conceptual boundaries have been increasingly confronting other extra-national literary traditions, such as those from the Indian subcontinent. The relationship between the USA and the postcolonial diasporas from India and Pakistan resounds with the political and intellectual Asian American experience of the Sixties and the Seventies, and configures a literary space that simultaneously addresses the migratory flows from many South Asian countries in the last decades of the previous century, as well as globalization's challenges: citing works by first and second generation South Asian American writers such as Amitav Ghosh, Bharati Mukherjee and Jhumpa Lahiri, I will highlight the complex intercultural dialogue that these authors entertain with multiple linguistic and national collectivities. Smart Tourism: between technology, participation and sustainability. The articledeals with smart tourism, understood as the relationship between tourism, andtechnology, participation and sustainability. The macro approach adopted allowsto approach the object of study from various points of view and to relate broad andcomplex issues, whose relations with tourism are usually treated separately. However, this advantage is accompanied by the limit of dealing with the issues, by forceof circumstances, in general. The innovativeness of the article lies in the type ofapproach, which highlights the potential, but also the ambiguities and critical issuesrelated to smart tourism, a fuzzy concept and a fashionable buzzword. The firstsection outlines the transformation of tourism within the broader transformation ofthe social system and subsystems: economic, political, value. The following sectionsdeal with the relationship between smart tourism and the three subjects under study:technology, participation, sustainability. The conclusions reflect on the criticalitiesof the concept of smart tourism and outline future lines of research. ; L'articolo ha come oggetto lo smart tourism, inteso come la relazione traturismo e tecnologia, partecipazione e sostenibilità. L'approccio adottato, ditipo macro, permette di affrontare l'oggetto di studio da più punti di vista e di mettere in relazione temi ampi e complessi, le cui relazioni con ilturismo solitamente vengono trattate separatamente. A questo vantaggio siaccompagna peraltro il limite di trattare i temi, per forza di cose, in lineagenerale. L'innovatività dell'articolo risiede nel tipo di approccio, che mettein luce le potenzialità, ma anche le ambiguità e criticità legate allo smarttourism, concetto fuzzy e buzzword di moda. La prima sezione delinea latrasformazione del turismo all'interno della più ampia trasformazione del sistema sociale e dei sottosistemi: economico, politico, valoriale. Le successivesezioni affrontano la relazione tra lo smart tourism e i tre temi oggetto di studio: tecnologia, partecipazione, sostenibilità. Le conclusioni riflettono sullecriticità del concetto di smart tourism e delineano future linee di ricerca.

The University of Camerino Botany Library was established in 1828 by Vincenzo Ottaviani, founder of the botanical gardens. The library collections have grown over the years thanks to the professors' passion for scientific research, and its history reflects the transformations occurred in the scientific and academic world, the political passions that would have led to revolutions in Europe and the institutional problems of a small Italian university with a rich and complex historical background. By analyzing the library's historical inventory and its collections' development we can catch a glimpse of the feverish scientific spirit of the time – a time of great innovations and knowledge exchange at an international level. ; La Biblioteca di botanica dell'Università di Camerino – nata nel 1828 per volontà di Vincenzo Ottaviani, fondatore dell'Orto botanico – ha visto crescere le sue collezioni coerentemente con gli interessi scientifici dei vari docenti, i mutamenti metodologici nella didattica e nella sperimentazione pratica, le passioni politiche che avrebbero portato alle rivoluzioni in Europa, e i problemi istituzionali di una piccola università italiana dalla storia secolare e complicata. L'analisi dell'inventario storico della Biblioteca, in cui compaiono alcuni testi fondamentali per le scienze naturali acquistati nel corso dell'Ottocento, ha permesso di ripercorrerne la storia e individuarne le linee di sviluppo, del tutto coerenti con le innovazioni scientifiche di quel secolo e con lo scambio internazionale di conoscenza proprio della cultura universitaria.

Abstract: Habermas believes that the foundation of democracy is to be found in the discourse principle. Also, some cognitive and experimental studies have suggested that democratic procedures can promote a debate between different opinions and ideas, thus improving the decision-making performance of public authorities. However, Habermas believes that, while, on the one hand, the democratic community is based on the premise that participants in the discourse collectively strive to find the best solutions, on the other, the democratic process allows citizens to irrationally misuse their political rights. We examine the criteria adopted by the European Commission for assessing EU member states' compliance with the "fiscal discipline" principles, with a focus on the role played by the output gap. This indicator, due to inertia and uncertainty inherent in its determination, is unable to correctly inform stabilization policies. The empirical literature reveals that the estimation techniques currently in use face serious difficulties in grasping the NAIRU during cyclical fluctuations, especially when these are of considerable strength and duration. There is a systematic tendency to interpret the evolution of real variables as the result of changes in productive capacity, with a distortion in the European Commission's assessments of the adequacy of member states' fiscal policies to economic conditions. Significant fiscal retrenchment was imposed, sometimes causing heavy consequences on productive capacity and productivity dynamics, and therefore on growth. In the last few years, unprecedented challenges and new social risks are testing the capacity of welfare policies implemented by many European countries to provide responses to emerging needs. The general economical and social crisis brings to the unyielding need for a recalibration mechanism between long-term care policies and public spending, as well as the recovery of different and new parameters of efficiency, sustainability and inclusion of interventions and welfare benefits. In recent years, the experiences of new care technologies based on ICTs have become increasingly widespread throughout Europe. Indeed, many studies document that the sustainability of the welfare services also goes through the promotion and implementation of specific technological devices and tools (which fall within the so called new care technologies – NCTs – or welfare technology – WT –) in the healthcare field. The aim of the research is to investigate the field of the wefare technology, studying in particular the changes at institutional level, including services' organization through the experiences in the norwegian municipality of Grimstad.

[Italiano]: Il presente volume è un segno di apprezzamento e di ammirazione offerto a Cristina Scherrer-Schaub in riconoscimento dei suoi importanti contributi al campo degli studi buddisti e indo-tibetani. I ventisette contributi raccolti in questo volume sono stati scritti da alcuni degli allievi e colleghi più vicini di Cristina Scherrer-Schaub e affrontano questioni diverse relative alla storia politica, religiosa, intellettuale e culturale dell'India, del Tibet, dell'Asia centrale e del Sud-Est asiatico. Ogni articolo contribuisce a mappare un paesaggio asiatico familiare alla dedicataria, da Tepe Sardar a Candi Sewu e mTho lding, e da Abhinavagupta alla Prasannapadā. The twenty-seven contributions gathered in this volume were authored by some of Cristina Scherrer-Schaub's closest pupils and colleagues and adress various issues relevant to the political, religious, intellectual, and cultural histories of India, Tibet, Central Asia, and Southeast Asia. Each article contributes in its own way to pointillistically map an Asian landscape familiar to the honorand, from Tepe Sardar to Candi Sewu and mTho lding, and from Abhinavagupta to the Prasannapadā. It is the editors' hope that the diversity of the contributions assembled in this volume may succeed in partly mirroring Scherrer-Schaub's broad intellectual horizon and her impact on many scholarly trajectories.
