; This article presents a research that considered as a hypothesis a critical interpretation of the history of non-formal education in Brazil. Here we address its emergence linked to a conservative project to mitigate the strength of popular education during the period of the military dictatorship. The investigation started from such indications and from a methodological proposal of political sociology that refers to the study of hegemonic social forms to search for links of such process in the history of non-formal education. The following presentation discusses the results of an investigation based on bibliographic and documental research. On the one hand, this process is specified by the replacement of adult education programs developed in the early 1960s, amid popular culture movements, which had Paulo Freire as a reference, by the institution of Mobral (Brazilian Movement of Literation). On the other hand, the examination of UNESCO's documents, especially from the texts of Philip Coombs, considered the pioneer in the use of the term non-formal education, as a recommendation to overcoming a crisis in education. In both movements, national and international, it is possible to identify the genesis of this social form configured by the association between the State, private entities, and civil society. This form changes the agents and purposes of an education aimed at the popular classes. The prevalence of this social form appears at other key moments in the history of non-formal education, especially in the 1990s, with the growth of the third sector, NGOs and business foundations and institutes.
This article discusses how the concept of social class was studied in communication research between the 1970s and 1980s, highlighting a trajectory of the concept from pioneering studies, with a focus on Brazilian research and on understanding their theoretical and epistemological meanings and considering positive and negative aspects. On the one hand, there are works close to the political economy of communication, Marxism and popular communication. On the other, there is the emergence of cultural and reception studies, which emphasize symbolic issues and the relation of the subjects of different classes with the media. In addition, there are studies focusing on journalism and public relations. Thus, this article shows the relevance of studying classes and class struggles in communication.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT ; This article concerns relations between care, emancipation and Social Work. Its objective is to critically reflect on a theme that has been obscured in the professional discussion. It analyzes the concept of care, as help, the family work of women and individual action, to locate them in the context of power relations and the lack of care and abandonment, which is specific to capitalist society. Care is considered from a democratic theoretical and historic perspective, which requires the construction of ethical values and the humanization of professional attention that is articulated to the existence of institutional support. The paper focuses on the recognition of the other as an individual and collective subject of rights, in the effectuation of his autonomy, democracy and citizenship in the context of social history, and as a subject, combines attention to his needs and expressions to social inclusion with ethical values and explicit processes of professional action.
Violence and its faces are also the engine of human history. The violence that is witnessed today in Ibero-American cultures includes its genesis in social inequality and in the prevailing capitalist mode of production. The state of violence is produced by social inequalities that have marked the history of humanity since its inception. However, the natural world itself also manifests itself in a violent way as everything comes into being in the universe and life is always fighting against the woman. Globally we live in the age of knowledge, information and violence that is increasingly more extraordinary and uncontrollable by normal (dominant) political and economic means. I believe that the extravagance and malaise caused by violence can be investigated in addition to statistical metrics and bureaucratic prescriptions related to violence. I consider it important to undertake a radical investigation of the current 'state of violence' of humankind, seeking to understand and interpret violence in its various facets, and therefore, it imposes a more intuitive than analytical method, which also requires one. sospecha and radical inquiry. ABSTRACT. This article has as objective the understanding of the social actions performed by Lourival Soares da Silva, who stood out for a life dedicated to activism in the movements of rural workers acting for several years as president of the Rio das Pedras Settlement Association, in Uberlândia. To understand and analyze their actions, a qualitative, observational approach was used and also through semi-structured interviews, in the methodological perspective of oral history. The theoretical framework consisted of a combination of Max Weber's comprehensive sociology, which is based on the understanding of human conduct endowed with meaning, more specifically the rational action in relation to values, with Jürgen Habermas' theory of communicative action, centered on oriented actions by the intersubjective agreements that are revealed in language and communication. It is concluded that the meanings linked to the social actions carried out by the social movement leader are summarized in categories based on the values of equality, justice, right to work, dialogue, democracy and collective social action. These ethical and emancipatory standards are not limited to their finalistic aspect, or their results, but above all in the value of a daily course that is very present in the imagination of social movements. ; ABSTRACT. Reading the 1950's and, mostly, the 1960's as an historical cycle of structural and speedy change in Portuguese society, a time of real industrial revolution together with rural exodus, massive emigration and growing politicization as consequence of the Colonial War (1961-74), Marcelism emerges as the last chance of the Portuguese dictatorship to control a modernization and massification process which had become clearly inevitable. The interpretation I am proposing does not perceive Marcelism as an autonomous object of analysis, but integrates it in a period running from the 1958-62 crisis of Salazarism until the final breakdown, in 1974, of the regime. This may be read as an historical cycle of fast (although it can be perceived as slow as far as the political events are concerned) materialization of the social and economic change which provided, in 1974, the inexorableness of the democratic rupture. In other words, I am not proposing to underline Marcelism's role in recent Portuguese History as an impulse for change, but merely as a transitional period, clearly assimilated in a wider period which, from my point of view, began in 1958, ten years before Caetano got back to power, the moment in which, in fact, Salazar interrupted his short political experience as heir-to-be of the dictator.
In view of the reality of rural schools and the social, political and economic context in which the peasants have lived, the research results have revealed that only one of the LDHs analyzed follows the principles defended by Rural Education.
; The paper deals with the applicability of Law 11,645/2008, which determines the inclusion of Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous History and Culture in the Basic Education curricula, preferably in the areas of Art education and Brazilian literature and history. The objective is to investigate the applicability of this law in relation to the obligation of teaching Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous History and Culture, in the teaching practices of high school history teachers. A qualitative approach was used and the semi-structured interview was used as a technique. The teachers, historians interviewed, work in state public schools in a city in the state of Rio Grande do Norte. A reflection was made about the processes of training and qualification of these teachers and the impacts of this law on their teaching practices. Teachers recognize the importance of this legislation, but do not consider it sufficient to bring about effective changes in schools, in order to overcome prejudices rooted in social practices strongly present in our society. The requirement for Afro-Brazilian and Indigenous History and Culture content in the referred law does not guarantee its applicability in the teaching of History, given the gaps identified in the initial and continuing education processes of the teachers surveyed. It is vital that history teachers resort in their teaching practices to value the memory of the various ethnic groups that make up our society as an instrument of consolidation of citizenship and democracy, which demands processes of teacher education in universities and in the teacher's practice spaces.
With the Cold War over, a lasting new world order seemed to establish itself, under the hegemony of a single planetary superpower. Within a short span oftime, this order showed itself to be rather precarious, despite the recurringaffirmations of American politico-military supremacy. The new socialstruggles have had a decisive role in producing and giving visibility to thiscrisis of hegemony. To what extent have their advances been compromised bythe political impact of the September 11, 2001 attacks? To put in another way,is the new conjuncture favorable to the recomposition of American hegemony? The present article is an attempt to contribution to the study ofthe nexus between social struggles and international relations in this turbulent beginning of the millennium.
This work is part of my current line of research focused on the study of the Church in modern Spain as a social and power institution and, in particular, on the monastery of San Jeronimo de Cordoba, Valparaiso, where I have started a case study because of the inquiry, redemption and valuation of one of the most outstanding, richest and most significant accumulated documents provided by the Jeromes, Cordoba: the so called "Protocol" or book "Tumbo". The formal analysis and mainly the content of private church documents is the core of this contribution. Its information on assets, novice admittance, real protection, relations with various institutions in the city, charity foundations and creation, expansion and maintenance of the monastery, are definitely necessary to get to know the newly born Valparaiso economically, socially, politically and culturally in the early fourteenth century, maintained until the first confiscation in the nineteenth-century as a genuine example of the Iberian Order to which it belonged. ; This work is part of my current line of research focused on the study of the Church in modern Spain as a social institution and power and, in particular of the monastery of San Jeronimo de Cordoba Valparaiso, which I have started a case study precisely because the inquiry, redemption and valuation of one of the most outstanding, rich and few significant accumulated and provided documentary traces the Jeromes Cordoba, namely: Its called "Protocol" or book "Tumbo". The formal analysis and above all this great content is private church documents the vital center of this contribution. His information on assets, income novice real protection, relations with various institutions in the city, pious foundations and creation, expansion and maintenance of the monastery, are definitely necessary to meet economic, social, politically and culturally to Valparaiso, born, Indeed, very early in the fifteenth century, maintained until the first confiscation and important nineteenth-century as a genuine example of the Iberian Order to which he belonged.
