The context of leadership has changed. Traditionally, leaders worked in organizations in which people largely shared a common culture and set of values. Today, leaders must bring together groups of people with very different histories, perspectives, values, and cultures. The people you lead are likely to be different from you and from each other in significant ways. Leaders today need an awareness of social identity, their own and that of others

The analysis is part of research on communication, especially the one concerning informative media strategy. It is responsible for creating semiotic-discursive construction of reality. Media undertake social discussion, which often leads to relativization of socio-cultural values in society. As a result, some concepts devaluate while others undergo social valuation. Doxa as the basis of social perception continues to be discussed and in some cases particular categorical imperatives are subject to the process of abolishing the taboo or quite the opposite. Such discussion is necessary firstly because of principles which regulate functioning of mass society and secondly because of ideas valued as paradigms of democratic behaviours. The analysis is limited to a number of euphemistic uses in French and Polish informative media. Its purpose is to find out whether euphemistic denominations influence creating particular social attitudes and whether they play a role in creating social identity. The above mentioned problem is directly connected with the phenomenon of information mediatisation in democratic societies. It is closely related to research on the area ideologisation because media create particular images of social reality. The analysis is also embedded in the context of social cognition, mainly by the aspect of appraisal and doxa. ; L'article présente quelques éléments de réflexion susceptibles de contribuer au développement d'une étude sur la portée sociale de l'euphémisation à l'exemple du discours médiatique. L'analyse porte sur quelques emplois euphémiques présents dans la presse française et polonaise (presse magazine et presse d'information générale) et doit répondre aux questions suivantes : les dénomina­tions euphémiques auxquelles les agents médiatiques ont recours provoquent-elles l'instauration de nouvelles attitudes sociales, le changement des stéréotypes ou l'évolution dans les schèmes perceptifs ? Finalement, sont-elles importantes dans la création de l'identité sociale ? Le problème sera discuté d'abord dans le contexte de la doxa propre aux comportements des consommateurs (à l'exemple de la presse féminine) et ensuite, de celle qui est due à la citoyenneté contemporaine (à l'exemple de la presse d'information générale). Dans le second cas, il s'agit de l'emploi des dénominations désignant le statut matrimonial des personnes non mariées. On s'inspire de l'étude faite par Bonhomme et Horak (2009), selon laquelle l'euphémisation s'opère sur le contenu doxal propre à une société.

The post-apartheid social and political context is marked by a reconfiguration of inequalities according to social rather than racial lines, and not by their decline. Consequently, the gap between the ambitions and the achievements of the Transformation project is the current frame of enunciation of public discourses on the "Black Middle Class", seen as a symbol of the long-awaited metamorphosis that was promised by the ANC in the beginning of the 1990's. The thesis puts these discourses into perspective to tackle the following broader question: What are the components and stakes of identifications in the "middle" of the social space in the context of post-apartheid Transformation? The object of study is theoretically constructed as an "actual middle" (distinct from the "middle class") and empirically crafted as "those in the middle" ("amaphakathi" in isizulu) in "Black Johannesburg". The analysis is based on secondary and primary sources (interviews and long-stay observations) gathered between October 2010 and October 2014. The first part explores the exogenous identifications (economic and political conditions, racial and social categorisations past and contemporary). The second part look at the ways "the ones in the middle" position themselves and puts their identity "in practices". In the french Ancien Régime society, characterized by social etiquette and assigning specific positions to individuals so that hierarchies are established, musicians appear to form a professional group difficult to categorize. They experience many realities according to their profiles : the organist from the cathedral, the violinist enlivening a district wedding, the town trumpet, the military drum or the street musician. The uncertainty regarding their status make them an ideal population to study in order to examine the way modern society views itself. This thesis offers to study this socio-professional group with a prosopographic approach inside a large geographic area that encompasses Provence and the pontifical states of the Rhône in the 18th century. Our reflection on musicians follow three main guidelines : the professional practices of the group, the social identity that shapes and defines its members, and the spatial and social movements characterizing their distribution across the territory. Numerous studies highlight the fact that men and women coming from similar social backgrounds tend to have similar religious attitudes and behavior. This fact puts into question the claim that women have a priviledged relationship - usually described with negative overtones - with religion. However, a thorough study of available data raises questions about the linear nature of the homogeneization of religious attitudes according to gender. Indeed, among existing religious measures there are small but recurrent discrepencies, in particular in the fields of the transmission of a religious tradition and of the individual recomposition of religion. Men and women have varying attitudes that illustrate the persistence of a difference linked to gender. It is therefore necessary to study closely the process of socialization according to gender and its effects on the construction of a feminine identity. In these fields, comparative studies higlight a contrasted evolution according to gender, which influences the very concept of equality. They allow us to illustrate two processes of adaptation to modernity which are part of social and cultural changes. Religion thus seems ambivalent. On the one hand by reinforcing the traditional woman/mother model, it proves to be resilient to modernity; on the other hand, as an available ressource it may favor the search for original solutions to confront/manage modernity, in particular for women.

How to explain variations in the level of donation in comparable countries? In all industrialized countries, the economic crisis of the 1980s encouraged the search for alternatives to the welfare state by encouraging third sector organizations to play a greater role in a partnership for the definition and implementation of public policies.Among Third sector organizations, philanthropic foundations provide a legal framework that allows people who wish to carry out acts of generosity by allocating a part of their personal wealth in the form of gift, for the purpose of general interest. Giving can be considered as a concrete expression of the cooperation between citizens for the common good.All democratic countries try to promote giving. The conventional explanations of the variation in level of gift among developed countries do not consider the gift as a social fact. We argue that the level of giving can't be explained by the sum of individual gifts that each respond to personal motives but by the state of the society whose cohesion is determined to both by the presence of social capital and the representation of identities.Social capital can be understood as " relationships, networks and norms that facilitate collective action." Social capital refers to relations that individuals establish them in social networks and the norms of reciprocity that arise from these relationships.This thesis is focused, first, on the level of social capital in economically developed countries and secondly on the meaning of the gift as a mode of representation of identity. It helps define social capital theory by highlighting the close relationship that unites the concept of the gift and hence the construction of identities.This analysis of the relationship between gift, identity ans social capital has direct implications for research in the field of civil society.
