El tratado De regia potestate et papali de Juan de París se considera la obra de teoría política más influyente que fue escrita durante el conflicto entre Felipe el Hermoso y el papa Bonifacio VIII. According to established opinion, the treatise was written in 1303 and was aimed to refute the papalist position of Gilles of Rome and the bull Unam Sanctam. This article, however, shows that John was the first theologian to intervene in the conflict and that, in turn, Gilles of Rome and the pope responded to the claims of the royal party. The first draft, written before April 1302, was used by Pierre Flote at the first National Assembly in Paris in order to buttress the royal claim to sovereignty. As a reward John obtained the long-awaited chair of theology at the University of Paris in 1304.

Resumen. La empresa ha priorizado como objetivo la satisfacción del dueño, mediante la maximización del valor actual de la empresa y la exclusiva obtención de utilidades; paradigma que ha dejado al margen los demás grupos que tienen interés en la empresa, llamados stakeholders: trabajadores, clientes, proveedores, comunidad, gobierno, ciudadanía y medio ambiente. Los problemas sociales actuales y el deterioro del medio ambiente, evidencian el fracaso del modelo tradicional, por lo que se propone cambiar de enfoque: una filosofía empresarial de responsabilidad social que tenga en cuenta los intereses de todos los participantes en el sistema empresarial, con la identificación y práctica de unos valores básicos y otros complementarios, congruentes con unos fines sociales, que se incluyan en la estrategia y en sus acciones cotidianas. Este nuevo modelo de gestión basado en valores se podría concretar mediante un pacto social jalonado por las empresas, constituyéndose en el rol del empresariado que contribuiría a la solución de muchos problemas de la sociedad. Abstract. The company has prioritized like objective the satisfaction of the owner, by means of the maximization of the present value of the company and the exclusive obtaining of utilities; approach that has left to the margin the other groups that have interest in the company, calls stakeholders: workers, clients, suppliers, community, government, citizenship and environment. The present social problems and the deterioration of the environment, demonstrate the failure of the traditional enterprise model, reason why it sets out to change of approach: an enterprise philosophy of social responsibility that considers the interests of all the participants in the enterprise system, with the identification and practice of basic values and other complementary ones, compatibles with social aims, that are included in the enterprise strategy and its daily actions. This new model of management based on values could be made specific by means of a social pact laid out by the companies, constituting itself in roll of the employers one that would contribute to the solution of many problems of the society.

Within the context of an era that appears to be defined by the triumph of gobalized capitalism, an alternative political project doesn't seem possible. Accordingly, Marxism can only be conjured as a spectre, in Derrida's sense. The 'philosophical conjuration' in postfordist society that Hardt & Negri propose in Empire is discussed, i.e. their notion of a General Intellect, by analogy with Saint Augustine's messianism in The City of God. The differences with Derrida's messianism are outlined, & the possibility to conceive of a 'messianism without a Messiah' in industrial society is discussed.

In this paper, the author offers an interpretation of the present day philosophical significance of the Scottish Enlightenment. After a broad review of the main characteristics of that movement and of the thought of major Scottish figures of the 18th century, the author proposes that contemporary debates concerning the nature and perspectives of progress in history could derive benefit from a critical reconsideration of some views put forth by the Scottish literati.

The article shows how John Rawls´ work renewed the agenda of the contemporany practical philosophy. The central idea is that Rawls has performed a renewal by putting in scene a new and fortified contractual scheme that defended the integration of morality and politics. The article focuses in reviewing the fundamental aspects of 71´s version of Justice as Fairness. ; El artículo muestra la manera como la obra de John Rawls renovó la agenda de la filosofía práctica contemporánea mediante la puesta en escena de un esquema contractual fortalecido teóricamente que defendía, como antaño, la integración de la moral y la política. El artículo se enfoca en pasar revista a los aspectos fundamentales de la presentación de 1971 de Justicia como Equidad.

This essay relates the normative discussion about social justice in political philosophy to empirical results from social policy analysis, thus linking two lines of discussions that have hitherto run mostly separate. The argument will be developed by answering four questions. The normative question: what regulative ideas of social justice does the debate about justice in political philosophy supply? The action-theoretical question: what criteria for judgment & political preferences can be found for a justice-oriented politics? The empirical question: how can the "three worlds of welfare capitalism" be judged in light of these hierarchically ordered criteria of justice? And finally the institutional question: which logic should underpin a reform of the welfare state, if this reform is to be both socially just & at the same time realistically achievable. The relevance of John Rawls' thought in the political philosophy of our time is due, among other reasons, to the fact that it includes the two types of justifications currently in vogue in any constitutional democratic regime. The evolution of his contractual theory represents exemplarily the two possible uses of the social contract as political legitimation. Our first intention in this paper is to underline the contrast between both uses, and then analyse the difficulties entailed by the merely "political" use of the contract method that Rawls defends in his latest works. ; La relevancia del pensamiento de John Rawls en la filosofía política actual se debe, entre otras razones, a que incluye los dos tipos de justificación actualmente preponderantes de un régimen democrático constitucional. La evolución de su teoría contractual representa de manera ejemplar los dos posibles usos del contrato social como principio de legitimación política. Nuestra primera intención aquí es poner de manifiesto el contraste entre ambos usos, para luego pasar a analizar las dificultades que lleva consigo el uso meramente "político" del método contractual que defiende el último Rawls.
