This volume collects some of the contributions presented at the Italian session of the International Social Work Education and Development Online (ISWED 2021) conference, jointly organised by the International Association of Schools of Social Work (IASSW), and the International Council of Social Welfare (ICSW) and, for the Italian language sessions, by the National Foundation of Social Workers.
Its aim is to contribute to the debate that was opened with the creation of the Global Agenda, an initiative taken by the three international organisations in the 2010/2020 decade and renewed for the 2020/2030 decade. In particular, the volume offers reflections on the role of social work in promoting human relations, justice and social solidarity, showing how research, training and professional practice can have an impact in translating the goals guiding the Global Agenda into practice.
While the first eight chapters deal specifically with the Italian context and address different themes, such as social work in the face of social emergency, qualitative research as a means of reconstructing social action, perspectives in decision-making processes for the protection of minors, and reciprocity in the exchange between social work and the homeless, the agapic relationship in social work, the production of knowledge in the process of aid, and finally the practices of training in Italian universities, the ninth chapter is dedicated to a historical analysis of social service and training in the State of Espirito Santo in Brazil.

This thesis is about Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) practice in Sweden. Impact Assessment (IA) is expected to play a crucial role in enabling democratic and enlightened decision making. EIA practice seems however not to be in accordance with best IA practice norms and legislation in many countries. We therefore need a more thorough understanding of IA practice and its outcomes and about what is gained through EIA and thus also be able to suggest, on a more profound basis, how the practice can be improved. This thesis presents an analysis of the two cases EIA practice on cumulative effects and the final disposal for spent nuclear fuel. The methods and approaches used are qualitatively and include literature review, document analysis, individual interviews and focus group interviews. The results were analysed using social psychology theory and community of practice theory. The case of cumulative effects clearly demonstrated that a positive attitude towards including cumulative effects was in place, but the conditions to change the knowledge base were not. In the investigated case for a final disposal for spent nuclear fuel it was revealed that a shared practice and social learning over time might result in difficulties for the authority in mapping out a clear role and identity for itself in relation to the proponent. It also showed that the shared practice that has developed between the industry, and the competent authorities, has over time resulted in the adoption of a shared understanding and similar perspectives, concerning at least two points. The first concerns downgrading the need to more thoroughly investigate alternate technical methods to the main alternative, while the second concerns the need to avoid delays in the planning process. Communication and the shared practice that has developed over a long period of time, can have a significant and not necessarily positive impact on power relations and thus hamper knowledge production, diffusion of roles and identities.

Il lavoro prende parte al dibattito scientifico su quali siano le più corrette modalità di attuazione del concetto di "sviluppo sostenibile". Attraverso l'applicazione dell'approccio coevolutivo allo studio condotto a Santiago del Cile, abbiamo cercato di rispondere alle seguenti domande: 1) Quali sono i problemi ambientali locali e quali le relative ripercussioni sociali? 2) Quali sono gli strumenti a disposizione delle municipalità locali per risolverli? 3) Quali strumenti vengono realmente impiegati e quali le ripercussioni sociali del loro utilizzo? ; The work takes part in the scientific debate about the most correct ways to affect the sustainable development concept. Through the coevolutive approach application to Santiago case (Chile) we tried to answer following questions: 1) what are local environmental problems and what are their social repercussions? 2) What are instruments in the local municipalities hands in order to resolve them? 3) Which instruments are really employed and what are social repercussions from their use?

La ricerca empirica dimostra che contatti e interazioni fra gruppi diversi sono il modo migliore per modificare, in senso positivo, gli eventuali pregiudizi negativi e favorire il dialogo e la cooperazione. Ciò è particolarmente produttivo nel caso in cui i gruppi implicati possano avere un uguale status sia fuori che dentro la situazione di contatto, uno scopo comune, essere in un contesto contemporaneamente interdipendente e cooperativo e agire in presenza di sanzioni sociali positive. Principi che l'Autore individua anche in un'esperienza di cooperazione universitaria che ha coinvolto l'Italia e l'Argentina in un momento di particolare criticità per la popolazione latinoamericana. ; La investigación empírica muestra que los contactos e interacciones entre los diferentes grupos son la mejor manera de cambiar, en un sentido positivo, los prejuicios negativos y fomentar el diálogo y la cooperación. Esto es especialmente productivo cuando los grupos involucrados se encuentran en condición de igualdad, sea dentro sea fuera de la situación de contacto, con un propósito común, en un contexto simultáneamente interdependientes y de cooperación y actúan en presencia de sanciones sociales positivas. Principios que el Autor también identifica en una experiencia de cooperación universitaria que ha involucrado a Italia y Argentina en un momento particularmente crítico para la población latinoamericana. ; The empirical research shows that the contact and interaction between different groups are the best way to change, in a positive way, any negative prejudices and foster dialogue and cooperation. This is particularly productive when the groups involved have an equal status both inside and outside the contact situation, when they have a common purpose, they are in a simultaneously interdependent and cooperative context, and they act in the presence of positive social sanctions. The Author identifies these Principles in an experience of university cooperation involving Italy and Argentina in a particularly critical time for the Latin American population.

The article proposes a brief enrichment of the vicende economiche e sociali negli anni di Sociologia del Trabajo. The first paragraph is a subject of economic change, elaborated from the point of view of economic sociology, it is worth saying with reference to the institutional assets that have regulated the interaction of interest in gioco in successivi moment; The second paragraph proves to render an account of how the company has changed in that process, showing the evolution of its structure with reference to its social distancing. The last part is a review of the type of sociology useful to practice now, in the change described above. With the knowledge of all the references available in a vast literature of research, close to segnavia or indizi, I propose a journey in the direction of a rational sociology, it is worth saying a sociology that has a sense of the measurement, is realistic, reformist, impegnant. In a moment when I am aware of the institutional withdrawal, I am responsible for sociology and will collaborate in the strengthening and innovation of the democratic institutions that have been built, and I will contribute, for the part, to the joint asset project for regulation in the change. ; El artículo propone una reconstrucción breve de los cambios económicos y sociales durante los años de Sociología del Trabajo. El primer apartado es un resumen del cambio econónimo, elaborado desde el punto de vista de la Sociología Económica, es decir con referencia a los medios institucionales que han regulado la interacción de los intereses en juego en momentos sucesivos. El apartado segundo intenta en cambio dar cuenta de como ha cambiado, en cambio, la sociedad y muestra la evolución de su estructura en relación con la investigación de la desigualdad social. La última parte es una reflexión sobre el tipo de sociología útil para la práctica hoy, en medio del cambio mostrado anteriormente.
