Eurocentric approaches to political Islam tend to deploy an internalist methodology that theoretically obscures the generative and constitutive role of international relations. This article addresses this problem through a critical application of Leon Trotsky's idea of 'uneven and combined development' to Ayatollah Khomeini's invention of the concept of 'Islamic government'. It argues that this concept was international in its socio-political stimulus and intellectual content, and, crucially, reflected, influenced, and mobilised an emergent liminal sociality that combined Western and Islamic socio-cultural forms. This heterogeneous character of Iran's experience of modernity is, the article argues, theoretically inaccessible to Eurocentric approaches' homogeneous and unilinear conceptions of history, which, as a result, generate exceptionalist modes of explanations. After a half century of history, sociological investigation in Portugal has entered a phase of advanced institutionalisation that is complete and with all the characteristics of an increasingly internationalised scientific field. The generators of sociological production – 'socio-cultural
generator' and 'socio-political generator' – which consist of specific combinations of protagonists, themes and styles of sociology – have contributed to this process of institutionalisation that has been consolidated during the past two decades. These two generators are not responsible
for all sociological output in Portugal, but they are responsible for the greater and more influential part. This article, then, provides a characterisation and comparative analysis of these generators, including the reciprocal citation patterns employed by their researchers.

The aim of this paper, in the context of the contemporary socio-economic changes in Serbia, is to consider changes in the regional development policy, and therefore in the approach to underdeveloped areas. A special attention is paid to regional inequality as a developmental problem since it directly influences the integrative processes, violating them, and therefore leads to side effects (economic, social, demographic, ecological, spatial, etc.). In Serbia, traditionally undeveloped areas (rural, hilly-mountainous and border/peripheral) have formed during a longer historical period, contrary to the new types of areas - municipalities ("devastated areas") that are connected to the transition period ("transition poverty"). Both appeared by cause and effect reaction to natural, socio-economic, social, demographic, cultural-civilizational and political factors.

"This paper provides a sociological overview of the post-war immigration, settlement and community development of British Pakistanis. First, there is an historical perspective on issues of migration and settlement. Second, an analysis of demographics and social mobility provides a deeper socio-economic contextualization, with a focus on the city of Birmingham as a test case. Finally, the implications for community development in the context of plural societies is explored in the light of recent events where British Pakistanis have attained less favorable notoriety, namely in questions of socio-economic status, radicalization and extremism. It is suggested that there are significant challenges facing this community, but very few real social, economic, political and cultural opportunities to better engage in society." The article purposes the argument that both the U.S. and Pakistani governments are both committing grave analytical, political, and moral blunders in the War on Terror, and escalation thereof. The author analyzes the forms of state and regime; provides an assessment of factors thrusting militancy into the political landscape; tracing issues and events over the last 40 years of Pakistani history, including the socio-cultural and political "thinning-out" of society, and rise of oppressive Islamism. Next, the author looks at how the Left foresee the situation in Pakistan; discusses an agenda towards finding solutions and "the way forward"; and examines the socio-economic and geopolitical ramifications, particularly in the guise of the current financial crisis. The article analyzes "Conception of Long-term Socio-economic Development of Russian Federation" designed by RSPP (Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs). The time period up to 2020 is considered to be medium-term. The author argues that if one takes into account the perspectives of Russian socio-economic development, then the main points of departure for the "Conception…" are to be determined in the light of long-term (50 years or more) vision of cultural, demographic and ecological challenges. The author proposes measures to overcome mutual distrust in the hierarchy of power which is traditional for Russian management culture by suggesting that the potential of judicial and economic principles of the new "mother's capital" institution be developed.

Considering and analysing Lesotho's socio-political historical and institutional contexts of teacher preparation from a postcolonial perspective, he argues that very many factors circumscribe education, in general, and teacher education in particular in Lesotho. Autonomy from the state could therefore mean subjection of the college to these other factors. The socio-political history of Lesotho, chiefly its doublecolonisation through French missionary social and cultural sectarian subjection and British political and economic subjugation, renders it a highly heterogeneous society in subtle and subterraneous ways.

SummaryIn 1975, as part of a socio-medical survey in a southern province of Iran, the influence of socio-cultural variables on behaviour in relation to illness and on beliefs about the causes of disease was examined. It was found that traditional beliefs such as 'luck' and religion were related to locality and age. For instance, the urban literate community puts less emphasis than the illiterate rural population on such beliefs. Older people and those living in rural areas still tend to believe in as 'evil eye' as a cause of disease, but a small percentage of old people in both localities do believe that flies can cause disease. The causal role of culture or specific elements of culture on health and disease requires further study.

Для зручнішого викладу матеріалу всі складові правового поля закладів культури клубного типу систематизовано за ступенем впливу — правова база безпосереднього та опосередкованого впливу. Виявлено недосконалості чинної правової бази, які полягають у відсутності чіткого правового механізму, спрямованого на адаптацію діяльності й відповідність закладів культури новим соціально-економічним реаліям. ; The aim of the article is to analyze the current legal base of clubs in Ukraine.Research methodology. A set of such methods is used: analysis and synthesis of empirical material; systematization; comparison and generalization to determine the main features of the legal support of activities of clubs of Ukraine.Results. The activities of club-type cultural institutions take place in the legal field, the structure of which includes the Legislative acts and regulatory documents of the authorized law-making bodies of the country. Pointing to the importance of the development of culture as the basis of the spirituality of the nation and its future, the legislature has not developed a clear legal mechanism aimed at adapting and matching the activities of cultural institutions to new socio-economic realities. The diversity of legislative and normative support and the priorities of the cultural policy approved by the relevant ministries are more directed towards the implementation of the planned function (approval of plans and writing of reports). While the coordination component and liability issues are virtually omitted.Novelty. An analytical review of the current legal field of activities of club-type cultural institutions of state / communal / forms of ownership is carried out. An attempt is made to compare the current legislative framework with a legal mechanism aimed at adapting cultural institutions to new socio-economic realities.The practical significance. The results of the study can be used in the practical activities of club-type cultural institutions.
