In this article some important aspects of Heidegger's philosophy of technology is addressed. It is argued against Don Ihde's observation that Heidegger's philosophy of technology mostly concerns the large scale technological phenomena of industrial revolution – actually in Heidegger's oeuvre we can find reflection on such micro-scale post-industrial technologies as cybernetics, biotechnologies etc. The critique of the essentialism of Heideggerian philosophy of technology by such authors as Andrew Feenberg, Don Ihde and Peter-Paul Verbeek is presented. It is suggested that earlier Heidegger's concept of the essence of technology as "machination" (Machenschaft) is less susceptible to such criticism: whether technologies are exploitative and turning nature into "standing reserve", or whether they are ecological and nature-friendly, whether they are understood as autonomous force, or democratically controlled process – it could be said that through contemporary technologies reality is increasingly turned into artifice and entities are revealed as makeable and producible.

In order to analyze the conjunction of women and technology in the field of waste management, it is firstly necessary to analyze the whole picture of women activities in Lithuania. What is the difference of women and men educational attainment in Lithuania, which field of science women prefers to take a part in, what job positions women usually occupy, what is the role women in the government and municipalities, what are the numbers of women using of computer, internet, e-commerce and how the use of technology effects waste management, these are the main questions to answer in this research.

In order to analyze the conjunction of women and technology in the field of waste management, it is firstly necessary to analyze the whole picture of women activities in Lithuania. Evaluation of the performance of science parks is an important topic in the context of Lithuania. The research object is the evaluation of Science and Technology Parks System in the contexts of the national innovation system and global competitiveness. In this work the general characteristics of the holistic innovation system model and new factors of competitiveness are identified, evaluation criteria are formed and a model to evaluate the competitiveness of Science and Technology Parks is created, which allows the use of these evaluation criteria in practice. This is the first time when Science and Technology Parks System in Lithuania has been examined as an inseparable element of the national innovation system, acting in complex political, economical and socio-cultural contexts. The evaluation criteria formulated allow wider observation of parks' current social functions to relate them to other state politics implemented, thus avoiding the duplication of funding and measures.

The understanding of learning about the cultural and architectural heritage, its protection and promotion possibilities are strongly influenced by rapidly spreading technological innovations. The spread of the Internet and commonly accessible benefits, offered by the Global Positioning System (GPS), created the possibility for the formation of a new virtual geocaching movement, the activities of which were united on the www.geocaching.com website. The GPS, which originated in the United States of America in 1970, has been kept as a military secret for a long time. The new and advanced version was adapted to be freely used by the civilians; however, it had a rather significant error of up to 100 meters. Yet, as on May 2, 2000, the resolution passed by the President Bill Clinton prohibited the military from blocking the GPS signals. D. J. Ulmer, an engineer from the USA State of Oregon, made use of this situation and on May 3, 2000 hid a container in a forest, which he gave a rather peculiar name of "the Great American GPS Stash Hunt". Its coordinates were posted on one of the GPS user websites. This was the start of the virtual geocaching movement which currently has over 6 million of registered users promoting an active lifestyle and an attractive way of learning about the environment by offering each member of the society a possibility to present his or her well known locations through an individual prism of vision and perception. Geocaches are included in the non-formal education programs in many countries and are used as an appealing method to promote both material and non-material heritage.[.]
