The article is devoted to the analysis of Heidegger's interpretation of the medieval ontology thesis. The main source for this article is Heidegger's Marburg Lectures "Die Grundprobleme der Phänomenologie", where the problem of the interpretation of the medieval ontology thesis has a special section. The methods of hermeneutic analysis, comparative analysis, as well as the method of historical and philosophical reconstruction are applied in the research. The article shows what points of convergence Heidegger could find in the medieval tradition of discussing the problem of distinction between essence (essentia) and existence (existentia) with his project of fundamental ontology. Particular attention is paid to clarifying the core definitions of essentia and existentia for the topic of study, as well as the closely related Greek terms μορφή, εἶδος (ἰδέα), τὸ τὶ ᾖν εἶναι, γένος, φύσις, ὁριςμός, οὐσία in the Heidegger's interpretation. The article presents how the clarification of the genealogy of key ontological terms enables Heidegger to discover the correlation between the constructions of medieval metaphysics and Dasein analytics. The author shows to what extent the scholastic tradition of discussing the problem of the relation and distinction between essence and existence in Heidegger's interpretation could serve as a kind of introduction to the Heidegger's project of ontology as phenomenology. The article also shows what difficulties arise when trying to apply the results of the analysis of medieval ontology thesis to the specificity of the Dasein. In this problematic context are considered the correlation and distinction of the terms proposed by Heidegger: Washeit, Vorhandensein as well as Werheit and Existenz.

This article examines Becker's thesis that the hypothesis that choices maximize expected utility relative to fixed and universal tastes provides a general framework for the explanation of behaviour. Three different models of preference revision are presented and their scope evaluated. The first, the classical conditioning model, explains all changes in preferences in terms of changes in the information held by the agent, holding fundamental beliefs and desires fixed. The second, the Jeffrey conditioning model, explains them in terms of changes in both the information held by the agent and changes in her prior beliefs, holding her fundamental desires fixed. The final model, that of generalized conditioning, allows for explanations in terms of changes in the values of all three variables.

Aristotle's thoughts on economic matters are included in his inquiry into the nature of politics. They are certainly ancillary to his thoughts on the education requisite for excellence. Yet this ranking should not cause one to overlook Aristotle's contributions to the field of normative political economy. To appreciate these contributions, it is helpful to look to the scholarship on Aristotle's political economy. In this essay such an inquiry is approached through categorizing the scholarship into three stages or waves of interpretation: 1) 'Aristotle's Economic Thought' (Karl Polanyi and M.I. Finely), 2) 'Aristotle's "Political" Economy', (William James Booth, Abram Shulsky, Harvey C. Mansfield, Jr.), and 3) 'Aristotle on the Best Possible Political Economy' (Michael D. Chan, Victor Davis Hanson, and Judith Swanson). The overall goal of this essay is to provide an account of the stages by which it might be useful to think through Aristotle's political economy.
