Pakistan zählt zu den ältesten Partnerländern des Bundesministeriums für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) in Asien. Bereits im Jahr 1961 wurden erste gemeinsame Projekte ins Leben gerufen. Entwicklungsinitiativen wurden über die vergangenen sechs Jahrzehnte hinweg immer wieder an neue Herausforderungen und sich verändernde soziale, wirtschaftliche wie auch ökologische Rahmenbedingungen angepasst. Ein Beispiel für die langjährige und vertrauensvolle Zusammenarbeit mit Pakistan ist das FATA-Entwicklungsprogramm, das die Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit im Auftrag des BMZ und kofinanziert durch die Europäische Union in der Provinz Khyber Pakhtunkhwa im Nordwesten des Landes umsetzt. Hier arbeitet die GIZ seit 2009 eng mit ihren lokalen Partnerinnen und Partnern an der Verbesserung der Lebensbedingungen der Bevölkerung in den Stammesgebieten entlang der gebirgigen Grenze zu Afghanistan. In dieser heute "Merged Areas" genannten Region liegt ein besonderes Augenmerk auf der Verbesserung staatlicher Dienstleistungen in den Sektoren Bildung und Gesundheit sowie auf der Reintegration von Binnenvertriebenen. Durch die Förderung von Bürgerbeteiligung und Selbstverwaltung, wie auch eines staatlich-zivilgesellschaftlichen Dialogs zur Entwicklungsplanung, unterstützt das Programm die politische und administrative Integration der bis 2018 weitgehend autonomen und von zahlreichen Konflikten geprägten Stammesdistrikte in die Provinz Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Die Region ist historisch und politisch bedeutsam. Mit dem Khyber-Pass liegt sie an der Schnittstelle zwischen West- und Südasien, was die einzigartige Kultur der Stammesgebiete bis heute prägt. Das Buch gibt nicht nur tiefe Einblicke in die Geschichte, Politik und in die reichen Traditionen der Menschen in dieser unruhigen Grenzregion, es legt auch ein beredtes Zeugnis über die facettenreiche Entwicklungszusammenarbeit zwischen Deutschland und Pakistan ab.

"Members of Eli Baxter's generation are the last of the hunting and gathering societies living on Turtle Island. They are also among the last fluent speakers of the Anishinaabay language known as Anishinaabaymowin. Aki-wayn-zih is a story about the land and its spiritual relationship with the Anishinaabayg, from the beginning of their life on Miss-koh-tay-sih Minis (Turtle Island) to the present day. Baxter writes about Anishinaabay life before European contact, his childhood memories of trapping, hunting, and fishing with his family on traditional lands in Treaty 9 territory, and his personal experience surviving the residential school system. Examining how Anishinaabay Kih-kayn-daa-soh-win (knowledge) is an elemental concept embedded in the Anishinaabay language, Aki-wayn-zih explores history, science, math, education, philosophy, law, and spiritual teachings, outlining the cultural significance of language to Anishinaabay identity. Recounting traditional Ojibway legends in their original language, fables in which moral virtues double as survival techniques, and detailed guidelines for expertly trapping or ensnaring animals, Baxter reveals how the residential school system shaped him as an individual, transformed his family, and forever disrupted his reserve community and those like it. Through spiritual teachings, historical accounts, and autobiographical anecdotes, Aki-wayn-zih offers a new form of storytelling from the Anishinaabay point of view."--

Sur la base de sources latines, les quatre livres réunissent un abrégé de l'histoire d'Israël et de l'Eglise catholique, un résumé de l'histoire des quatre royaumes de l'Antiquité et un traité sur les problèmes juridiques de la guerre. L'auteur insiste sur les conséquences dévastatrices des conflits guerriers, sociaux ou religieux. Il incite le jeune roi à exercer le pouvoir de manière juste et à rétablir la paix dans le monde chrétien. Le texte s'est répandu immédiatement parmi la noblesse, du Sud de l'Europe jusqu'en Ecosse, et principalement à Paris. Parmi les quatre-vingt-sept manuscrits conservés, celui qui sert de base à l'édition présente est le plus ancien manuscrit daté et localisé (Paris, 1397).
