In particular, it analyzes various cultural phenomena or studies the work of certain authors essential to understand European culture in its entirety since classical Greece. This is the context for investigating the presence of rites, myths, witches and religious ideas in Europe due to philosophical systems, but also thoughts born on the fringes of the majority philosophical currents. All this is explained in three parts: the first, centered on the ancient world; the second, Christianity; the third, in Europe until the 17th century"--

This article focuses on administrative reforms in two countries of the Western Balkans – Croatia and Serbia – within the context of democratization and Europeanization processes. It explores, in particular, the administrative simplification measurdes and regulatory reforms that have been undertaken by the two countries in order to reduce administrative burdens on both businesses and citizens, and improve public governance and regulatory quality. In this article, particular attention is given to the progress reached by Croatia and Serbia in establishing the one stop shop principle and e-Government services. The main aim of the article is to verify the impact of the EU integration on administrative simplification measures, especially in the areas of administrative procedure and relationships between public administration and citizens.

The 43rd UID conference, held in Genova, takes up the theme of 'Dialogues' as practice and debate on many fundamental topics in our social life, especially in these complex and not yet resolved times. The city of Genova offers the opportunity to ponder on the value of comparison and on the possibilities for the community, naturally focused on the aspects that concern us, as professors, researchers, disseminators of knowledge, or on all the possibile meanings of the discipline of representation and its dialogue with 'others', which we have broadly catalogued in three macro areas: History, Semiotics, Science / Technology. Therefore, "dialogue" as a profitable exchange based on a common language, without which it is impossible to comprehend and understand one another; and the graphic sign that connotes the conference is the precise transcription of this concept: the title 'translated' into signs, derived from the visual alphabet designed for the visual identity of the UID since 2017. There are many topics which refer to three macro sessions: - Witnessing (signs and history) - Communicating (signs and semiotics) - Experimenting (signs and sciences) Thanks to the different points of view, an exceptional resource of our disciplinary area, we want to try to outline the prevailing theoretical-operational synergies, the collaborative lines of an instrumental nature, the recent updates of the repertoires of images that attest and nourish the relations among representation, history, semiotics, sciences.

The data and considerations in this article were collected and analyzed throughout a fieldwork research in Beit Sahour (West Bank), which aimed at studying the working and living conditions of olive-wood craftsmen. The present paper intends to broaden that analysis and draw the complex frame that operates onto the Palestinian population both socially and economically. Processes of inclusion and exclusion integrate each other rather than simply being opposed: within such a frame, Israeli policies are shaped to exercise control over the territory through strategies of spatio-cide (Hanafi) and over the population through the discipline of mobility as well as through the imposition of a regime of discrimination within the local communities. ; L'articolo parte da dati e riflessioni raccolte durante una ricerca sul campo a Beit Sahour (Cisgiordania), volta a indagare le condizioni lavorative e di vita degli artigiani che lavorano il legno d'olivo. Il presente contributo si propone di ampliare l'analisi nell'intento di tracciare il complesso quadro che agisce sulla popolazione palestinese, a livello economico e sociale, attraverso processi di esclusione ed inclusione che si integrano più che contrapporsi. Entro queste linee emerge l'intento delle politiche israeliane di esercitare il controllo sul territorio attraverso strategie di spazio-cidio (Hanafi) e sulla popolazione attraverso la disciplina della sua mobilità e l'imposizione di regimi di discriminazione interni.

The opportunity for this work originates from the recent discovery of two codices on wheels for perpetual motion in Tehrān and in Manchester by G. Ferriello, whose paper will follow in this issue. Now the similarity of the drawings existing in these manuscripts with known ones on the same topic by Leonardo and by other Renaissance engineers requires some reflections on possible relationships and on the transmission of knowledge between East and West in the field of Mathematics and Engineering in the Early Modern age. The substantial studies on Renaissance engineers do not refer anything to researches on technical-scientific development in the Islamic world, nor particularly in the Persian world, which we will deal with. This certainly did not happen for lack of documentary material, but of interest of scholars to sources in not European languages, with the consequent lack of comparisons between historical-cultural contexts that have shared a lot in the past, inheriting and transmitting Classical and Hellenistic texts that were acquired, translated, integrated and then returned to their original sphere. The studies on the Renaissance, favoured by the interest in machines intended in a philosophical - as well as technological - key and extended to the experimentation of machines in building sites, have made known a vast documentary heritage, consisting of writings and drawings; these works have also promoted the interest in Mechanics applied to the building subject and for its protagonists, from Taccola to Francesco di Giorgio to Leonardo; but not always adequate emphasis has been given to the means of transmission of the sources, that have been somehow forgotten after the translation of ancient texts into Latin or vernacular, or even denied for religious or political reasons in Catholic Europe: thus has been lost, in many cases, the added value represented by the passages through the scientific culture of the Near East. ; Questo lavoro nasce dalla recente scoperta di due codici sul moto perpetuo rivenuti a Teheran e a Manchester da parte di Giuseppina Ferriello, la cui relazione seguirà in questo numero. La somiglianza dei disegni esistenti in questi manoscritti con quelli noti sullo stesso argomento di Leonardo e di altri ingegneri rinascimentali richiede alcune riflessioni sui possibili rapporti e sulla trasmissione delle conoscenze tra Oriente e Occidente nel campo della matematica e dell'ingegneria in età moderna. I corposi studi sugli ingegneri rinascimentali non fanno alcun riferimento a ricerche sullo sviluppo tecnico-scientifico nel mondo islamico, né particolarmente nel mondo persiano, di cui ci occuperemo. Ciò non avvenne certo per mancanza di materiale documentario, ma per il mancato interesse degli studiosi verso fonti in lingue non europee, con la conseguente mancanza di confronti tra contesti storico-culturali che molto hanno condiviso in passato, ereditando e trasmettendo testi classici ed ellenistici che sono stati acquisiti, tradotti, integrati e poi riportati nella loro sfera originaria. Gli studi sul Rinascimento, favoriti dall'interesse per le macchine intese in chiave filosofica – oltre che tecnologica – ed estesi alla sperimentazione delle macchine nei cantieri, hanno reso noto un vasto patrimonio documentario, costituito da scritti e disegni; questi lavori hanno promosso anche l'interesse per la meccanica applicata all'edilizia e per i suoi protagonisti, da Taccola a Francesco di Giorgio a Leonardo. Non sempre è stata data adeguata enfasi alle modalità di trasmissione delle fonti, che sono state in qualche modo dimenticate dopo la traduzione di testi antichi in latino o volgare, o addirittura smentite per ragioni religiose o politiche; così, in molti casi, è andato perduto il valore aggiunto rappresentato dai passaggi attraverso la cultura scientifica del vicino Oriente.

The aim here is to present Rome's conception and vision of patronage in Latin America at the beginning of the 19th century. From Latin America and the Iberian Peninsula, the question of patronage is read in a purely political key, according to a political use of religion. Rome, on the other hand, clearly had another approach to the question. Its reading key was twofold: eminently religious, but also inevitably political in its implications. In any case, the religious need was truly primary over the political one. The religious question is confused with the political one in relation to the legitimacy of political power. The ultimate question is very essential: who legitimately holds power? In the long 19th century, two authorities, that of the state and that of the Church, confronted each other regarding decision-making powers in the Church, who can decide what. If the Holy See is not at ease with constitutional regimes, this does not prevent it from operating according to its religious purposes: ultimately it has no difficulty with the institution of patronage, but with the way it is implemented. ; Si vuole qui presentare la concezione e la visione che Roma aveva del patronato in America Latina all'inizio del XIX secolo. Dall'America Latina e dalla penisola iberica la questione del patronato è letta in chiave prettamente politica, secondo un uso politico della religione. Roma invece aveva chiaramente un altro approccio alla questione. La sua chiave di lettura era duplice: eminentemente religiosa, ma pure inevitabilmente politica nelle sue implicazioni. In ogni caso l'esigenza religiosa era realmente primaria su quella politica. La questione religiosa si confonde con quella politica in rapporto alla legittimità del potere politico. La domanda ultima è assai essenziale: chi detiene legittimamente il potere? Nel lungo '800 si confrontano due autorità, quella statale e quella della Chiesa, in ordine ai poteri decisionali nella Chiesa, chi può decidere cosa. Se la Santa Sede non si trova a suo agio con i regimi costituzionali questo non le impedisce comunque di operare secondo i suoi fini religiosi: in definitiva non ha difficoltà con l'istituto del patronato, ma con le modalità di attuazione. ; O objetivo do presente artigo é apresentar a conceção e visão de Roma do padroado na América Latina no início do século XIX. Da América Latina e da Península Ibérica, a questão do padroado é lida numa chave política da religião. Roma tinha claramente uma outra abordagem à questão. A sua chave de leitura era dupla: eminentemente religiosa, verdadeiramente primária, mas também inevitavelmente política nas suas implicações. A questão religiosa é confundida com a questão política em relação à legitimidade do poder político. A questão última é muito essencial: quem detém legitimamente o poder? No longo século XIX, duas autoridades, a do Estado e a da Igreja, confrontaram-se relativamente ao poder de decisão na Igreja, quem pode decidir o quê. Se a Santa Sé não está à vontade com os regimes constitucionais, isso não a impede de funcionar de acordo com os seus objetivos religiosos: em última análise, não tem qualquer dificuldade com a instituição do padroado, mas sim com a forma como é implementado.

This paper aims to analyse the political role of the aristocracy in Liguria during the last twenty years of the Western Roman empire, from the death of Valentinian III to the reign of Julius Nepos in Italy (450‐475). During the final crisis of the imperial authority in the Western empire, the elites of Liguria resumed a significant political role. Firstly, as a consequence of his conflict with the emperor Anthemius in Rome, the patricius Ricimer ritired to Milan, where he held his court in 470/471. Some time later, after the deposition of Glycerius, the emperor Julius Nepos chose both Milan and Pavia (Ticinum) as residence and seat of his government. While Rome and the Italia Suburbicaria were under the political influence and control of the Roman senatorial aristocracy, Julius Nepos decided to stay in Italia Annonaria to lead the defence of the Gallic provinces against the Visigoths. Therefore, from summer 474 to summer 475 Milan and Lombardy were at the center of the political and diplomatic action of the last legitimate Western Roman emperor. ; Obiettivo di questo studio è l'analisi del ruolo dell'aristocrazia della Liguria nell'ultimo ventennio di storia imperiale, dalla morte di Valentiniano III al regno di Giulio Nepote in Italia (450‐475). Nel momento di più grave crisi dell'autorità imperiale, le aristocrazie della Liguria ripresero un ruolo politico significativo, quando Ricimero decise di tornare a Milano nel 470‐471, in occasione della guerra civile contro Antemio. Qualche tempo dopo, deposto Glicerio, anche Giulio Nepote scelse come sedi del suo governo Milano e Pavia (Ticinum). Mentre Roma e l'Italia suburbicaria erano sotto il controllo dell'aristocrazia senatoria dell'Urbe, dall'Italia annonaria Giulio Nepote si impegnò nella difesa delle regioni galliche che ancora riconoscevano il potere imperiale contro la minaccia dei Visigoti. Per questa ragione, dall'estate 474 all'estate 475 Milano e la Lombardia furono il centro dell'azione politica e diplomatica dell'ultimo legittimo imperatore d'Occidente.

Leonardo's manuscripts contain many quotes of 'his' Western Alps, well-known mountains sketched, with lakes, rivers and towns, creating outstanding territorial readings. In the 19th century, he became a turning point between medieval representation techniques and the great cartographic reform of the 16th century. Leonardo's approach to territorial drawing, his evolutionary theories on the history of the Earth, his measuring and survey instruments, his calculation of mountains altitudes can be compared to subsequent maps confirming, , with ideal overlaps, the crystal clear anticipations of the 'Grande di Vinci'.

Il presente scritto si pone la finalità di ripercorrere brevemente il saggio di Enrico Ferri, Il Mito della Civiltà occidentale. L'Occidente come categoria ideologia e mito politico,. L'autore dimostra attraverso la sequenza circolare, strutturata in tesi, antitesi e sintesi, l'inesistenza del Mito occidentale. Con il termine Occidente si suole indicare, usualmente, un certo tipo di civiltà, valori, cultura, politica: una società fondata sul progresso, sul garantismo e sulla ricerca del benessere. L'autore mette in crisi il modello poc'anzi descritto tramite una ricostruzione storica accurata, dimostrando come in realtà il mondo occidentale, così come siamo abituati a parlarne, sia un miscuglio di culture, anche di origine orientale, e che l'Occidente non può essere inteso come categoria unitaria. Ecco dunque cosa rappresenta il Mito: l'oppio funzionale al raggiungimento dell'approvazione popolare. ; This paper aims to briefly review the Professor Enrico Ferri's "Myth of Western civilization", edited by Nova Publishers of New York City. The author demonstrates through the circular sequence, structured in thesis, antithesis and synthesis, the non-existence of the Western Myth. The term West usually indicates a certain type of civilization, values, culture and politics: a society founded on progress, guarantee of Rights and the search for well-being. The author challenges the model just described through an accurate and historical reconstruction, demonstrating how in fact the Western world, as we are used to talking about it, is a mixture of cultures, even of asian origin. That means that the West cannot be considered as a homogeneus category. The Myth has to be considered as opium functional to achieving the popular approval.
