IntroductionThe Coordination of Health Care study was developed by the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare in partnership with the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) to fill an important data gap relating to patient-reported experiences of continuity of care across Australia.
Objectives and approachThe 2016 Survey of Health Care was administered by the ABS. Over 35,000 responses were weighted to population benchmarks before being linked toadministrative datasets including hospital and emergency department care, Medicare Benefits Schedule and Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme.
These linked datasets aim to provide a comprehensive picture of patient journeys in relation to patient-reported experiences of continuity of care.
The cross-jurisdictional data linkage spanned state and federal agencies, data linkage units and state health departments. Approvals across 10 different ethicscommittees were sought. Study management included governance and compliance with state and federal privacy legislation, negotiation of safe transfer of sensitive information across organisations, data interrogation, understanding data quality and study limitations.
Specific challenges included sensitivities in response to requested data variables, obtaining private hospital data, understanding state based legislation, particularly in changes to guardianship and consent, working across jurisdictions to meet requirements and communicating linkage protocol.
ResultsAll hospital linked datasets were received in early 2020 and currently being validated. Analysis of linked data will investigate continuity themes on low urgencycare and potentially preventable hospitalisations.
ConclusionFive key lessons learned from the cross-jurisdictional data linkage:

Engage with jurisdictional-based organisations early. Leveraging existing committees in the first instance can help.
Be specific in documentation and approach.
Subtly, every state is different. Local context and state legislation matter.
Governance ethics and compliance take time. Get started early.
Liaise broadly, across and between organisations.

Undergraduate GPA data of a major research university in Canada from 2013 to 2016 were analyzed to identify GPA gender gaps. Results indicate that while female students outperform male students in terms of GPA, male students tend to have higher GPA standard deviation. Consistent with other business schools, the male students in the sample outnumber female students, but the proportion of male students who received a university entrance scholarship is lower than the proportion of female students admitted who received scholarships. In comparing the two business programs, the GPA gender gap is larger in the program that has poorer overall performance. Male students are overrepresented in the left tail of the distribution in terms of GPA but underrepresented in the right tail of the distribution. These findings support the theory that in terms of university grades, men (if they win at all) win through extremes and women win through averages.

Vine traceability is a critical issue that has gained interest internationally. Quality control programs and schemes are mandatory in many countries including EU members and the USA. Albania has transformed most of the EU regulations on food into laws. Regarding the vine sector, the obligation of wine producers to keep traceability data is part of the legislation. The analysis on the interviews conducted with Albanian winemakers show that these data are actually recorded only in hard copy. Another fact that emerges from the interviews is that only two producers have implemented the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards on food. The purpose of this paper is to develop an agile and automated traceability system based on these standards. We propose a data model and system prototype that are described in the second and third section of this work. The data model is an adaption along the lines of the GS1 (Global Standards One) specifications for a wine supply chain. The proposed prototype has a key component that is mobile access to the information about wine through barcode technology. By using this mechanism the consumer obtains transparency on his expectations concerning the quality criteria. Another important component of the proposed system in this paper is a real-time notification module that works as an alert system when a risk is identified. This can help producers and authorities to have a rapid identification of a contaminated product. It is important in cases when recalling the product from the market or preventing it from reaching the consumer.

Recent reforms in data privacy protection framework in European Union have lead to enactment of General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). However, it remains debatable if GDPR would lead to significant improvement in the protection of privacy rights of individuals, which is always considered the fundamental right. The advent of technology and movement of data across geographical barriers and outsourcing of data processing jobs to countries outside the EU necessitated enactments of GDPR. An analysis is done to demonstrate that though some of the provision of GDPR remain generically remain similar to the Data Protection Directive, GDPR has incorporated some new provisions by choosing the 'regulation' as an instrument of law for better harmonisation, expensing the 'right to be forgotten, legitimisation the role of consent, providing data protection by design and default, increasing accountability of data controllers and expanding the scope of provision of the directive to extra territorial jurisdiction would be remain to be seen whether GDPR is an old wine with the new label or something else in a wine bottle.

Several models which analyze count data have been proposed in econometric literature. These models allow the discrete, non-negative nature of specific phenomena of interest to be gathered in a appropriate way and can be useful for the explanation of specific preference structures among individuals. In this work, an analysis of the number of wine types consumed by residents of Tenerife is carried out, with an aim to observe which characteristics determine the exclusivity in its consumption, given the current context of increased competition in this sector. The specific characteristics of the considered variable allow the study to cover two aspects. The first is methodological, and is seen by the variety of models that may be considered in this case. This focus consists in comparing several possibilities which fit the type of count data involved. This article focuses on wine counterfeiting and the policing of fake wines in mainland China. Relying on rich data drawn from published materials and open sources, it discusses three important themes in relation to product counterfeiting: the definitional issue; the scope, scale and organisation of the counterfeiting business; and law enforcement against product piracy. The aim is to broaden our knowledge about the counterfeiting trade, to develop a clear understanding of the illegitimate market, and to help to renew countermeasures that not only enable the exercising of tighter control over the counterfeiting industry but also disrupt the illegal behaviours of counterfeiters. Rather than place emphasis on the protection of intellectual property rights, this article stresses public health concerns with regard to dangerous counterfeit goods such as fake wines. Examining wine counterfeiting within the existing analytical framework of organised crime research, this article contributes to analysis of the nature of product counterfeiting and the issue of policing counterfeit goods.
