Abstract
Summary In this article, originally published in 1956, Juan F. Noyola takes stock of the models for economic theory that prevailed until that time of the twentieth century, particularly since the Great Depression, a phenomenon from which a number of important theories emerged to explain and solve it. However, he mentioned that such theories should be considered from a critical perspective in order to be applied to Latin American circumstances. The author also stresses the importance of putting forward a development theory, as well as the importance of taking over Marx's ideas in a comprehensive manner for that theory.
