These last years, main IT companies have build software solutions and change management plans promoting data quality management within organizations concerned by the enhancement of their business intelligence system. These offers are closely similar data governance schemes based on a common paradigm called Master Data Management. These schemes appear generally inappropriate to the context of complex extended organizations. On the other hand, the community-based data governance schemes have shown their own efficiency to contribute to the reliability of data in digital social networks, as well as their ability to meet user expectations. After a brief analysis of the very specific constraints weighting on extended organization's data governance, and of peculiarities of monitoring and regulatory processes associated to management control and IT within these, we propose a new scheme inspired by Foucaldian analysis on governmentality: the Panopticon data governance paradigm. ; Pour répondre aux attentes de nombre d'organisations, qui cherchent à renforcer l'efficacité de leur système d'information décisionnel mis en défaut par la faible qualité des données de gestion récoltées en leur sein ou auprès de leurs partenaires, les éditeurs logiciels ont déployé des schémas relativement similaires de gouvernance des données dits de Master Data Management . Ces schémas s'avèrent souvent inadaptés aux contraintes pesant sur les organisations étendues. De leur coté, les schémas de gouvernance des données d'inspiration communautaire ont montré leur efficience et leur pertinence vis à vis des attentes des usagers amenés à contribuer à la fiabilité des données dans les réseaux sociaux numériques. The HaSpaD projects does not distribute own datasets. Instead, the HaSpaD syntax package allows to harmonize and pool all German surveys with partnership biographical data which are available for secondary use via a research data repository. Data access to these source data must be arranged autonomously by users of the HaSpaD syntax. The scripts harmonize and pool the partnership biographical data, as well as additional variables on respondents and their partnerships. These include, for example, gender, religious affiliation, and nationality of the respondents. The pooled data set provides the opportunity to analyse previously unanswered questions on marriage and partnership stability from a historical and life course theoretical perspective, in particular on the long-term increase in divorce rates and on social changes in risk factors for separation. In addition, methodological developments of research syntheses will be facilitated.

Stattdessen ermöglicht das HaSpaD-Syntaxpaket die Verknüpfung aller thematisch relevanten verfügbaren deutschen Umfragedaten, die zur Sekundärnutzung über ein Forschungdatenrepositorium bereitgestellt werden. Der Datenzugang zu diesen Ursprungsdaten muss separat durch Nutzende der HaSpaD-Syntax erfolgen. This white-paper expresses common requirements of Research Communities seeking to leverage Identity Federation for Authentication and Authorisation. Recommendations are made to Stakeholders to guide the future evolution of Federated Identity Management in a direction that better satisfies research use cases. The authors represent research communities, Research Services, Infrastructures, Identity Federations and Interfederations, with a joint motivation to ease collaboration for distributed researchers. Introduction & BackgroundFood retailers' transaction data are increasingly used for research. Unlike many other digital footprints, the representativeness of automatically accumulating food purchase data as such is less biased as food is consumed by all individuals. However, the process of obtaining individual/household level data requires consents from the consumers and, thus, may create selection bias.
Objectives & ApproachThe aim of this work is to describe the recruitment process and participant characteristics in the Finnish LoCard study to evaluate the selection mechanism.
The Finnish LoCard study comprises two cohorts collected in 2018 and 2023 with 47,066 and 42,340 participants, respectively, who have consented to release their food purchase data for research. The study collaborates with S group, the leading retailer in Finland with 47% market share. Members from their loyalty card program were invited to consent to their purchase data being used for research and voluntarily respond to a background questionnaire.
Relevance to Digital FootprintsOur analyses may provide further insights into the selectivity of consumers who are willing to share their purchase data for research purposes.
ResultsFor both LoCard cohorts, all loyalty card holders (n~2.3M) were considered. In LoCard I, the invitations were sent to 1.1M primary card holders with confirmed email addresses, of whom 47,066 (3.9%) participated and consented to their purchase data being used for research. In this cohort, women, middle-aged individuals, individuals with higher education, and employed individuals were overrepresented whereas the retired individuals, those with lower education and individuals with children were underrepresented. In the LoCard II, loyalty card holders (n ~2.24M) with an email address were invited. Of these, 852,009 (37.7%) opened the invitation link, and a further 42,340 provided the consent, resulting in response rate of 1.9% from the original population and 4.9% from those reacting to the email invitation. Data on the characteristics of LoCard II participants are not available yet but will be presented in the conference presentation.
Conclusions & ImplicationsThis work investigates selection mechanisms in the Finnish LoCard study and evaluates the feasibility of reaching underrepresented groups in health studies, such as socioeconomically disadvantaged groups or young men, through a combination of loyalty card program and email invitations.

The digitization of communications technology has led to an intense interaction between human and digital-based technology. A large number of digital data traces produced by humans as a result of that activity. Such data is commonly referred to Big Data. The availability of Big Data as a digital data source in turn, opens opportunities for communication scientists to be able to use that data to get the patterns and trends of human activities that have been done through social research. It is necessary to understand the basic concept of the Big Data, using appropriate tools and adequate access to the data, and appropriate research method in order to be able to conduct research by using such digital data. This paper aims to describe the potential of Big Data for the purposes of communication research, the use of appropriate tools, techniques and methods and to identify potential research directions in the digital realm.
