Dr. Torres' sons Dr. Victor Torres, Chicano & Latin American Studies (CLAS) Professor, proudly celebrates hisheritage all year round in the professional and artistic activities he engages in. He highlightshis heritage through his classes, focusing on social, economic, and political experiences in theHispanic community. Dr. Torres actively implements his heritageinto his daily life, but is grateful forcelebrations like National Hispanic HeritageMonth (NHHM) that shine a light on andappreciates the Hispanic community,especially during a time of great socio-economic and socio-political obstacles. An example of how Torres keeps his heritage alive all year round is through his passion forMexican folkloric dance. Torres is the director of the popular on-campusdance group, Los Danzantes de Aztlán, and hasguided them through honorable performancessuch as the World Arts West–San FranciscoEthnic Dance Festival . He speaks on theresiliency of the Hispanic culture and the powerthat comes from sharing the experience of dance. "It is through Mexican folkloric dance that I inculcate my children with the values of respect,commitment, hard work, professionalism, and humility–values firmly embedded in Hispanicculture." Torres also likes to reminisce on his childhood and share those memories with his childrenlike his favorite Mexican candy. "There are several Mexican candies that, when I come across them, bring back childhood memories.I remember frequently having a Saladito (dried, salted plum) in my mouth. Saladitos were THEsour candy of their time. I remember cringing as the extremely sour taste hit my taste buds. Ofcourse, with over 4,000 grams of sodium they are extremely bad for your health. I stopped eatingthem a long time ago. However, I am always tempted to try "just one" when I see them, but I knowit is never "just one." " The other childhood Mexican candy that I enjoyed was the Cajeta – caramel candy. Unlikesaladitos, Cajeta was sweet and smooth. It is usually encased by two very thin wafers, making itlook like a caramel sandwich. Cajeta was more of a luxury candy, usually on a Sunday afterchurch." Through dance, Torres continues to implement the tradition of excellence and professionalismto encourage students of all backgrounds to participate in the Mexican folkloric troupe. He'sinstilled a passion for Mexican folkloric dance in his family–not simply as a form ofentertainment but as a way of life. "What we do for ourselves we take to the grave. If we are looking for social and personal transformation, education can not be limited to processes, structures that are only a reflection of political, economic and market related decisions; a real social change requires education policies that are not reflected and framed from desks outside our reality.According to the above, the questioning and the main reflection at this writing, lies in considering the social sciences to be in contact with inherent in everyday situations, should strengthen their proposals, actors and researchers to project strong arguments to a paradigmatic transition, and social transformation. ; En aras de generar trasformaciones sociales y personales, la educación no puede ser limitada a procesos, estructuras que solo son el reflejo de decisiones políticas, económicas y mercadológicas; un verdadero cambio social requiere políticas de educación que no estén plasmadas y enmarcadas desde escritorios ajenos a nuestra realidad.De acuerdo con lo mencionado, el cuestionamiento y la reflexión principal en este escrito, radica en considerar que las ciencias sociales al estar en contacto con situaciones inherentes a la cotidianidad, deben fortalecer sus propuestas, sus actores e investigadores para proyectar argumentos sólidos hacia la transición paradigmática, y la transformación social. ; Com o fim de gerar transformações sociais e pessoais, a educação não pode ser limitada a processos, a estruturas que são apenas o reflexo das decisões políticas, econômicas e mercadológicas; uma verdadeira mudança social requer políticas de educação que não são refletidas e formuladas a partir de escritórios fora de nossa realidade.De acordo com o exposto, o questionamento e a principal reflexão enunciada na presente escrita, encontra-se em considerar que as ciências sociais ao estar em contato com situações inerentes à cotidianidade, devem reforçar as suas propostas, seus atores e pesquisadores para projetar fortes argumentos à transição paradigmática, e a transformação social.

Indonesia is among the countries in the world that has been building trust of good governance. However, the current situation shows that it is still far from the expectation of good governance. Based on these problems, the research identified various phenomena related to public service in Faculty of Social Sciences by lecturers and students for the dissatisfaction of the services performed by administrative staffs in the Faculty of Social Sciences, ranging from simplicity, clarity, certainty of time, accuracy, security, responsibility, completeness of facilities and infrastructure, ease of access, discipline, courtesy and friendliness, and comfort. The purpose of this study is to find out how is the implementation of Good Governance principles in public service at the Faculty of Social Sciences Makassar State University. Type of research used is descriptive qualitative, by taking seven informants consisting of students, lecturers, staff and faculty leaders. Data collection technique is done by observation, interview by using data analysis starting from data collection, data reduction, data presentation and conclusion. The results showed that the application of the principles of good governance in public services in the Faculty of Social Sciences can be categorized as still not well based from the aspect of accountability, and aspects of the rule of law
