The article analyzes the paradigm space of higher education in Ukraine. It is proved that the modern education paradigm has a synthetic character, is based on the polyparadigmality principles and is a synthesis of personally oriented ideas, semantic and cognitive paradigms of education. Their nature and characteristics are considered. The units of analysis selected certain components of the paradigm, namely: mission, goals, objectives, guiding values, content of education, basic didactic tools, teacher-student relationships, criteria, functions. It is proved that the situation of confrontation and contradiction of personally oriented, semantic and cognitive paradigms of education is unacceptable, since each of them has its positives and limitations. It was found that cognitive education provides significant potential for intellectual development of the individual, it is its apparent positive. Proved that the cognitive limitations of education lies in its normative and purely social utility, which not related to the unique personality implementation, which is a passive "object" of teacher pedagogical influence; informative cognitive priority led to its content and disciplinary overload, is a serious problem of modern education in higher education institutions. Proved that priority is individually oriented paradigm associated with the formation of free, individual initiative as the "subject" of his life and this education paradigm is reflexive oriented because its values are leading self-awareness, self-development and personal fulfilment future specialist. However, objective knowledge is sometimes overlooked, and this is a certain difficulty of personally oriented education. It is found out that the benefits of the education semantic paradigm are related to the value-semantic attitude formation towards future professional activity, with updating of personal semantic experience; with semantic choice, with development of future specialist semantic potential. The reflexive nature of the personally oriented, semantic and cognitive paradigms of education is substantiated, and it is proved that the modern paradigm of higher education space will constitute a polyparadigmatic synthesis of their ideas accumulated in the education reflexive paradigm. The polyparadigmality essence is revealed as a research methodology, which is a conceptual synthesis of several existing educational paradigms.

Drawing on autotheoretical methods, this insightful volume explores how LGBTQ+ scholars, practitioners, and scholar-practitioners exist within and negotiate an insider/outsider paradox within higher education, highlighting issues of affect, legibility, and embodiment. The first of a two-volume series, this book foregrounds the experiences of LGBTQ+ higher education scholars and practitioners in the United Statesas they navigate cisheteronormative culture, structures, practices, and policies on campus. Through theorization of contributors' lived experiences in relation to identity and the concept of queerness as being, the volume posits queer identity as embodied resistance and demonstrates how this plays out within an insider/outsider paradox. The National Council for Tertiary Education (NCTE) the coordinating body for tertiary education in Ghana) and the Ministry of Education established norms in the early 1990s to assist higher education institutions in planning and ensuring efficiency of their operations and foster performance monitoring and evaluation. The norms also serve as standardised input factors for budgeting and allocation of public funds for higher education. During the past years, budgetary allocation to higher education institutions for recurrent expenditure has fallen short of the norm-based costs. Indeed, the difference between the normbased costs of university education and resources made available to the institutions by the Government were 28.9% in 2005/06 and 23.4% in 2009/10. The consequence of the inability of the state to provide funds to meet the norm-based costs of higher education is the breakdown of norm-based budgeting which was instituted in the early 1990s and a reversion to incremental and ad-hoc budgeting without due regard to the volume of activities performed by the institutions. This development has had grave consequences for equity and efficiency in fund management in higher education. This work assesses the factors behind the discontinuance of the norm-based budgeting approach and the use of the incremental budgeting approaches in higher education in Ghana.

Educationists have argued that professional design education has come to function as an alternative form of general liberal arts education. However, professional design education has not fully embraced the liberal arts model of education for democratic citizenship. More often design education teaches skills for maximizing economic growth. I investigated the implications of the liberal arts approach to design education by conducting action research in an industrial design program at a public university. The insights reveal that shifting from skills-based vocational training to knowledge-based liberal education is not only a matter of implementing different pedagogical methods, there may also be changes in teacher identity. I conclude that the abilities crucial for the liberal arts model of education for democracy align with the aspects of design education for post-industrial economies and the knowledge society.
