Nigeria, the Giant of Africa, has three big tribes: Yoruba, Igbo, and Hausa. It was a British colony which was amalgamated in 1914. The country became independent in 1962 and was right away bedeviled by military coups d'états and a bloody civil war (1967-1970). In 1999, the country experienced democratic dispensation. In the 1990s, the Nollywood nascent movie industry—following in the footpath of Hollywood and Bollywood—flourished. The movie industry grew thanks to four factors: Rapid urbanization; the hand-held video camera; the advent of satellite TV; and, the overseas migrations of Nigerians. Local languages are used in these films; however, English is the most prominent, along with Nigerian pidgin broken English. Many themes are treated in these films: tradition and customs, religion, witchcraft and sorcery, satire, urban and rural lives, wealth acquisition, consumerism, etc. I discuss the ways in which American popular culture is adopted in Nigeria and recreated on screen. Nigeria and USA share Federalism, the superlative mode, and gigantism (houses, cars, people, etc.), and many Nigerians attend American universities. In the final analysis, the arguments exposed in this paper highlight the multitude of ways in which Nigerians navigate the treacherous waters of modernity and globalization.

What do we learn by examining the so-called "culture wars" in the context of local government? Local politics are both similar and different from the partisan skirmishes evidenced at the national levels. More importantly by considering how local politics differs from national politics in the culture war, we are reminded that resources of social capital and integrative leadership matter.

Today, strategic culture becomes an essential element of the national security policy of the Russian Federation. While absorbing some modern aspects, its strategic culture reflects historical lessons learnt by the Russian Empire and the USSR. Russia still cannot refuse from the idea to restore its superpower status and to fight for new territories. Thus, we can define a number of essential elements of the Russian strategic culture formed in relation to the historical and contemporary development of this state. Throughout the history, the Russians have legitimized the decisions and activities of the ruling elites. As the Russian leadership has long built up powerful associations which had taken root in the minds of people while remembering patriotism and love for their Motherland, the Russians believe in the importance of maintaining and enhancing patriotic feelings. While cultivating its civilizational and cultural detachment, Russia continues developing its own messianic idea which envisages the views of the special historical kismet of Russia. In order to fulfill its global tasks, Russia uses the policy of military interventions and violates state sovereignty of other countries, since the 'militant' political culture of its leaders has always militarized the strategic culture of the RF.
So, the strategic culture of Russia emanates from the unique position and history of this state which manages to adapt it to the new realities. However, Russia's aspirations to reclaim its status as a global superpower at any cost do not allow its strategic culture to be changed or even to be altered.

AbstractTo be on the receiving end of 'unethical' negotiation tactics is a challenge at any time, but is especially difficult when the other party is from a different culture. A model is presented that demonstrates how culture influences numerous situational variables in a negotiation and, in particular, how culture impacts upon negotiators' ethical decision making. It is posited that culture directly influences the legal environment, organizational code of ethics, organizational goals, and the perception of the other party, and that culture moderates negotiators' understanding of each of these situational variables. The theoretical and practical implications of the model are also discussed.

Basing on the experience of researchers from different countries in the field of studying intercultural communication and the mechanisms of interaction between culture, education and communication, the author tries to give an interpretation of intercultural communication in the higher education system. The paper indicates that intercultural communication in the higher education system is elitist, because its subject is representatives of intelligentsia of different cultures; denotes the strategic importance of this communication, as it provides the environment and conditions for achieving a competent education, dictated by the modern world market. The prospect of the communication lies in the fact that it serves as mental and humanitarian support for the development of the world economy and universal solidarity; its heuristic is that it contributes to the formation of conditions for acquiring new knowledge, discovering any previously unknown properties, patterns, etc.
