"Dealing with narratives of vulnerable populations, this book looks at how they deal with dimensions of their social life, especially in regard to health. It reflects the socio-political ecologies like public hostility and stereotyping, neglect of their unique health needs, their courage to overcome adversity, and the love of family and healthcare providers in mitigating their problems. The narratives inform us about the dissimilarity between the way we speak, what we hear and how we act. American society likes to give the impression that it is listening to the plight of vulnerable populations, but the stories in this volume prove otherwise"--

With the appointment of Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court, jurists in the mould of Justice Scalia, textualism and originalism are more prominent then ever before. These justices insist that in interpreting the Constitution, they focus on text while other justices neglect the Constitution. In 'The (Un)Written Constitution', George Thomas reveals that textualists and originalists rely on unwritten understandings that shape their reading of the Constiution's text.
In: Cambridge elements. Elements in public and nonprofit administration
As the US faced its lowest levels of reported trust in government, the COVID-19 crisis revealed the essential service that various federal agencies provide as sources of information. This Element explores variations in trust across various levels of government and government agencies based on a nationally-representative survey conducted in March of 2020. First, it examines trust in agencies including the Department of Health and Human Services, state health departments, and local health care providers. This includes variation across key characteristics including party identification, age, and race. Second, the Element explores the evolution of trust in health-related organizations throughout 2020 as the pandemic continued. The Element concludes with a discussion of the implications for agency-specific assessments of trust and their importance as we address historically low levels of trust in government.
