In der Arbeit geht es um den Zusammenhang der politischen Entwicklung und des Sprach- und Kulturkontakts. Sie orientiert sich an einer mikrohistorischen und alltagsgeschichtlichen Perspektive und hinterfragt nationale Zuschreibungen. Die These, dass Mehrsprachigkeit bis in kleinste Einheiten hinein ein grundsätzliches Alltagsphänomen war, wird mit der Rekonstruktion der sprachlichen Verhältnisse in Chełmno/Culm überprüft. In einem interdisziplinären Ansatz versucht die Arbeit in sprachlichen Phänomenen sozial- und politikgeschichtliche Bedeutung zu erkennen, die einen substantiellen Beitrag zur Bewertung der Teilungen Polens liefert. Erstmals werden der Übergang der Stadt unter die preußische Herrschaft unter Einbeziehung der russischen Besetzung während des Siebenjährigen Krieges und die sprachlichen Verhältnisse in der zweiten Hälfte des 18. Jahrhunderts untersucht. Hierfür werden insbesondere die Theorien und Erkenntnisse der Kulturtransferforschung und der Histoire croisée aufgegriffen. Diversität ist kein Charakteristikum einzelner Regionen oder einer transnationalen Ebene sondern eine grundsätzliche soziale Qualität. Der Arbeit liegt das Verständnis zu Grunde, dass "Sprache" die menschliche Fä­higkeit und Tätigkeit sprachlicher Kommunikation ist und "Sprache(n)" im Sinne von Einzelsprachen wie Polnisch, Deutsch und Latein Abstraktionen aus den konkreten Formen sprachli­cher Kommunikation sind. Ausgewertet werden die in den Quellentexten zu findenden unterschied­lichen sprachlichen Elemente. Die Arbeit gliedert sich in die Einleitung, die drei Kapitel "Chełmno/Culm 1750-1800", "Sprachliche Vielfalt" und "Zwischen Polen und Preußen" sowie ein Ergebniskapitel. Beigefügt ist ein Anhang mit umfangreichen sprachlichen Belegen sowie je eine Zusammenfassung in deutscher, englischer und polnischer Sprache. THE PRIMARY FUNCTIONS OF THE RURAL BLACK WOMEN IS TO REPRODUCE THE AFRICAN LABOR FORCE. Information we receive from and create together with our social networks is becoming increasingly important. Social information has a great impact on our information behaviour and there are many possible angles and layers in studying social aspects in information science. This book presents some of these angles. Social Information Research, co-edited by Gunilla Widen and Kim Holmberg communicates current research looking into different aspects of social information as part of information behaviour research. There is a special emphasis on the new innovations supporting contemporary information behavior and the social media context within which it can sit. As a concept, social information has been studied in biology, psychology and sociology among other disciplines. This book is relevant for various actors in the library and information science field and will be useful for researchers, educators, and practitioners while coordinating empirical research on social information and providing an overview of some of the present research about social information.

AbstractWe highlight the problem of loneliness, and argue that it is not only a public health issue but also an economic problem. We provide a brief review of findings from the key literature on the associations between loneliness, mental and physical health, and healthcare costs; and then present some evidence on its trends, the extent of socioeconomic inequalities and its links with health and healthcare usage, in Australia. We hope to encourage further economics research on loneliness, and related issues of social isolation and poor social support, to aid the design of policies and interventions to reduce loneliness.
