The reported rise in radicalism among youth in Pakistan since 9/11/2001 has been attributed to religious education in madrasas and schools. However, education in Pakistan is only part of the historical and contemporary forces that contribute to the prevailing exclusivist religio-political discourse. Although most policy papers have recommended a secularization of public education, such efforts by the Pakistani government have been counterproductive. These efforts by the Pakistani government to reshape education, with massive funding from international donors, have faced strong opposition and there are signs of psychological reactance as evidenced by even greater levels of religious radicalism among Pakistani youth. The current study suggests a viable alternative for reshaping education in Pakistan. A nationwide survey of educated urban youth (N = 386) conducted by the first author, revealed that when considering radical religious, Western secular and liberal religious ideas, Pakistani youth were overwhelmingly supportive of a liberal religious approach to education that highlights an inclusive Islam emphasizing freedom and compassion. Findings have implications for government reforms, peace education initiatives, and long-term conflict transformation in Pakistan.
Queer and radical criticisms of the LGBT movement have existed since the movement's origins. Indeed, within any movement there are tensions between radicalism and liberalism, assimilation and separatism, and the role of professional or hierarchical organizations. Examining three recent publications on the LGBT movement, I argue that within the LGBT movement there is a tension between queer radicalism and professionalism (which is often conflated with homonormativity and assimilation.) As the national LGBT movement grew, it inevitably developed professional, formal organizations. Although a necessity in maintaining movement coherence and focus, professional organizations are also deeply problematic because of how they suppress dissent and radicalism. Professional organizations also incorporate corporate diversity culture, which is often staffed and led by white professionals and targets only visible and fundable identities such as race and gender.

Expanding the influence of auto/biography studies into cultural criminology, this book addresses the origins, processes and cultures of terrorist criminality and political resistance in a globalized world.
Majlis ta'lim as the gateway for Islamic education that must face the problems that arise due to the development of an increasingly globalized world, is required to continue to improve its quality so that it can play a bigger role in bridging the gap between the real conditions of Muslims, so that it is reflected and realized a knowledge and Islamic social action. The process is ideally balanced with mental and character cultivation that enables the members of the assembly to be able to face life's problems. Mental and character that has been internalized within will become whole and unified in the soul, thus forming personal integrity. The notion of radicalism which leads to terrorism is an important understanding for the people in the city of Kendari. Community contact with radicalism is certainly not something that appears by itself in the midst of society. The notion of radicalism arises because of the communication process of conversations with others, both discussions about politics, economics, and various things, especially discussions about the understanding of religion which recently have very sharp differences and one of the places where religious understanding is studied is the Taklim Council. This study uses a qualitative method with a descriptive analytical approach. Data sources are primary and secondary data sources. Data collection methods used are observation, interviews and documentation with sampling techniques. This study shows three stages in dealing with the understanding of radicalism through the taklim assembly, first starting with the form of conciliation with the materials presented later by the taklim board administrators, so that it is not only jihad material through suicide bombings but studies that are mutual respect and respect between each other, especially inter-religious people. Second, the approach of the Taklim Council towards Radicalism is through reforming the assembly which is not known by the MUI management, both city and provincial administrators. Third, involve stakeholders and related agencies who are concerned about eradicating terrorism and radicalism.
There is no sexiest word besides Radicalism. Its existence often makes people stricken with fear. Even those who guessed that the end of radicalism was a brutal act of terrorism. The end of the religion is related. Various types of prevention are carried out by various official governmental and private institutions. The aim is none other than so that the ideas that lead to acts of terror can be stopped. In understanding the meaning of radicalism, many are confused, because if it is traced, the equivalent of the word radicalism is not in accordance with the meaning. Because the meaning of the radik is root / rooted (meaning deep thinking / philosophizing), while people do too much, they may not necessarily think deeply. Meanwhile, the word ism itself which contains the meaning of a notion, should be distinguished by an act that ends brutally. Herein lies the error, the word used to describe this should be extremism. Because there are always people who overdo it.That the symptoms of radicalism among Muslims in the post-New Order era can be seen as an 'act of identity' carried out in order to respond and answer the crisis of identity they experienced in the midst of dramatic and dramatic changes that occurred in Indonesia in the early phase of transition to democracy. not right if always associated with religion. But it does not mean that in religion there is no action, in any religion there are always people who interpret religion in a textual way, raping the scriptures for their interests. So that short-sightedness leads to brutal action / terror. The Muhammadiyah which is the main guardian of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia will also not agree with various kinds of violence, occupation and deviant acts. It's just that Muhammadiyah suggested that the handling that smelled of Islam be carried out with a persuasive approach. Therefore, if the government insists on repressive actions, new terrorists will emerge. The emergence of radicalism cannot be separated from the long history of this nation, ...
