Collective memory is not a monolithic body of knowledge and ideas; at times it splinters, shifts to parallel modes of existence, and is sometimes disrupted. Disruptions in collective memory create social tension, which is either overcome through special procedures of commemorative "reset," or else pushed into a voiceless space. The phenomenological approach, particularly B. Waldenfels' xenological concept, is useful in analyzing disruptions of collective memory. The metaphor of "wounding" in the context of encountering the Alien, and the analysis of "healing" the lived space through interpretation, which uses the tools of the same lived space, prove fruitful in studying commemorative disruptions. The analysis of "suturing" the commemorative disruptions of the 20 th century shows that the very existence of the disruption is made visible through the use of a new narrative, which allows for a new quality of social solidarity. The collective memory of contemporary Ukraine has several lines of disruption, but we can suppose that some of these are not comprehended in society, due to the lack of an appropriate narrative. One example of such a disruption is the collective memory of displaced persons. This disruption finds its reflection in artistic projects, which strive to stress the idea that the creation of a common commemorative space for displaced persons may provoke civic solidarity, which will then help to preclude further social conflicts.

This book proposes a new institutional constructivist model, for social scientific and legal enquiries, based on the interrelations within the social and political world and the application of change in EU laws and politics. Much of the research conducted in social sciences and law examines the diverse activities of individuals and collectivities and the role of institutions in the social and political world. Although there exist many vantage points from which one can gain entry into understanding how agents in the world act, interact, shape and bear the world, socio-legal scientific epistemology has found monism and dualism to be convincing models. This book argues that current models do not capture the complexity of our micro-worlds, macro-worlds and meso-worlds. Nor can they account for the forms and patterns of socio-legal change. Mind, time and change are brought together in an attempt to contribute to socio-legal epistemology and to enhance its toolkit.

First published in 1999, this volume features 13 contributors with expertise in social science and environmental research who have brought together comparative 12 articles which study the connection between humanity and nature, focusing on comparisons between the Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. They are among the most homogeneous and hence most comparable societies in Europe. The articles reflect the need for environmental and political change recognised by social scientists and political scientists across the Nordic countries, with an emphasis on ecological modernisation. They first consider conceptions of the environment, before comparing both between and within these countries. One of the most important social and political functions of any state is the cultural policy designed to regulate the inner life of civil society. Cultural factors are decisive in the creation of a harmonious society, but also in enhancing the intellectual and spiritual potential of the human capital which is the lead factor in the development of any state.Characteristics of cultural policy, as a process, i.e. procedural approach, allows us to see the specific aspects of interaction of subjects over the governmental authorities. However, due to the fact, that in its scale cultural process is the same as political environment of the state, some scientists identify it either with politics in general or with the totality of the shares of behavioral government entities, change their status and influence. Supporters of the institutional approach associates the cultural political process with the functioning and the transformation of the government institutionы, based on a set of the political system reactions on the environmental challenges. As we speak in the current economic conditions in Ukraine is actual the development of anti-crisis measures for the rehabilitation and development of the conceptual approach of cultural policies in the region. As such, the obvious is the development of a measures set by all courses of the plan, that will mutualize the key goals, objectives and tools into a uniform system of measures. This plan should provide the combined model in the region and provide a transition to the zonal management principle of the transition period. In the plan it is also should be provided institutional support for the proposed measures, namely the mechanisms of technological and socio-cultural issues implementation in range of the cultural policy of the society [1, p.18].

How is social media changing contemporary understandings of crime and injustice, and what contribution can it make to justice-seeking? The article examines cross-cultural aspects of metaphorical framing in political discourse. The author notes the importance of conceptual metaphor in framing the conceptual domain of politics, political discourse as a whole, its perception as well as political reality itself. The author shares an opinion that the metaphorical structure of basic concepts of a nation always correlates with its fundamental cultural values. However, the examination of political discourse from the cross-cultural perspective reveals the cases of metaphor uses that don't meet the requirements of cultural coherence and may lead to negative cognitive and communicative consequences. Along with admitting a wide discrepancy between metaphorical models in western and oriental political discourse, the author gives some examples of metaphorical coherence as well as its violation in a number of basic metaphors in American, British and Russian political discourse. To illustrate how cross-cultural factors determine the specific character of metaphorical framing, the article analyses the dynamic character of metaphorical models that can realize diverse scenarios in different national varieties of political discourse. An observation is made about the dependence of metaphoric scenarios in different national varieties of political discourse on the cultural, historical, social and political components of the national cultural cognitive map. The latter is heterogeneous as it is structured by the objectified individual, group, and national verbal and nonverbal experience. This explains, for instance, why there are examples of similarity as well as discrepancy between metaphorical framing in ideologically different party varieties of political discourse within the national political discourse as well as in the rhetoric of politicians belonging to different generations. The observations are illustrated by cross-linguistic data proving the dynamic character of metaphorical models, their variability and potential for conveying new meaning nuances that reflect culture-specific characteristics of the political situation in discourse.

Recent years have seen an increase in interest in the circular economy (CE) in science and practice. In both cases, the benchmark for an activity is the degree of environmental degradation. CE is a concept based on sustainable development, taking into account the balance of three areas: environmental, economic, and social. While the first two are relatively well described and measurable by quantitative indicators, the third is still not satisfactorily represented in science and practice. To embed CE in scientific discourse, it seems appropriate to use the umbrella concept, which implies the integration of different fields and disciplines into new research areas. This article focuses on the social aspect, emphasizing the role of management sciences, which, with the selection of appropriate methods, can be the key to studying and describing this area. The purpose of this article is to try to select a research paradigm for the social aspect of CE, so that the concept fits more fully into the assumptions of sustainable development.

Diseases change the life of individuals, the social status of groups, the obligations of professionals, and the welfare of nations. Disease classifications function as a demarcation of access to care, rights, and duties. Disease also fosters social stigmatization and discrimination, and is a personal, professional, and political matter. It raises a wide range of ethical issues that are of utmost importance in patient communication and education. Accordingly, the objective of this article is to present and discuss a range of basic ethical aspects of this core concept of medicine and health care. First and foremost, disease evokes compassion for the person suffering and induces a moral impetus to health professionals and health policy makers to avoid, eliminate or ameliorate disease. The concept of disease has many moral functions, especially with respect to attributing rights and obligations. Classifying something as disease also has implications for the status and prestige of the condition as well as for the attitudes and behavior towards people with the condition. Acknowledging such effects is crucial for avoiding discrimination and good communication. Moreover, different perspectives on disease can create conflicts between patients, professionals and policy makers. While expanding the concept of disease makes it possible to treat many more people for more conditions - earlier, it also poses ethical challenges of doing more harm than good, e.g., in overdiagnosis, overtreatment, and medicalization. Understanding these ethical issues can be difficult even for health professionals, and communicating them to patients is challenging, but crucial for making informed consent. Accordingly, acknowledging and addressing the many specific ethical aspects of disease is crucial for patient communication and education.
