The article is devoted to the problem of teaching professional disciplines at the faculties of journalism of Ukrainian universities. The main thing in the research is to find an answer to the question: why in the curricula of these faculties is there less and less journalism lately? The author made the review of the European community projects directed on introduction in Ukraine of the western methods of journalistic disciplines' teaching. This assistance was provided in various forms in the early 10s of the new millennium. This includes retraining of Ukrainian teachers abroad, conducting seminars and trainings in Ukraine based on the Institute of Journalism of Taras Shevchenko National University, Uzhhorod and Simferopol universities, and funding the student online publication LiveJournal "Zhorna". It is about the multi-year Ukrainian program of the Swedish Institute for the Retraining of Journalists Fojo and the same program of the European Union in cooperation with the International Trust Service of the BBC "Zhorna". As a direct participant in several international trainings, the author describes the peculiarities of teaching journalism in Western schools of journalism. The reasons why this technique has not taken root in Ukrainian universities are being clarified in the research. Among the main ones is the heads of journalism education in Ukraine position on the formation of new curricula in "Journalism and Information" field. They have significantly deepened the gap between the theory and practice of journalism. There is a noticeable tendency to increase the volume of disciplines, which plans are full of theory, not specifics, and do not provide students with practical skills to work in real journalism. There are several directive decisions made during the last 15 years, according to which journalism has been supplanted in the social communications sciences as an independent direction of research of history, theory and mass media practice. These were also attempts to rename the Institute of Journalism of the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv as a basic educational institution for the journalists training at the Institute of Mass Communications, and the educational and scientific direction of training "Journalism and Information" to replace into "Communication Studies". Separately, we are talking about the author's method of teaching journalism based on skills acquired during repeated internships abroad, the best examples of various creative exercises of students on these methods during the teaching of the lecture-practical course "Basics of Journalism". ; Стаття присвячена проблемі викладання фахових дисциплін на факультетах журналістики українських вишів. In music streaming services like Spotify, discrete pieces of music no longer has a price, as has traditionally been the case in music retailing, both analog and digital. This article discusses the theoretical and practical implications of this shift towards subscriptions, starting from a critical review of recent literature dealing with the commodification of music. The findings have a relevance that is not limited to music or digital media, but also apply more broadly on the study of commodification. At the theoretical level, the article compares two ways of defining the commodity, one structural (Marx), one situational (Appadurai, Kopytoff), arguing for the necessity of a theory that can distinguish commodities from all that which is not (yet) commodified. This is demonstrated by taking Spotify as a case, arguing that it does not sell millions of different commodities to its users, but only one: the subscription itself. This has broad economic and cultural implications, of which four are highlighted:(1) The user of Spotify has no economic incentive to limit music listening, because the price of a subscription is the same regardless of the quantity of music consumed.(2) For the same reason, Spotify as a company cannot raise its revenues by making existing customers consume more of the product, but only by raising the number of subscribers, or by raising the price of a subscription.(3) Within platforms like Spotify, it is not possible to use differential pricing of musical recordings, as has traditionally been the case in music retail. Accordingly, record companies or independent artists hence can no longer compete for listeners by offering their music at a discount.(4) Within the circuit of capital. To promote the positive self-image, political figures began to regard the development of the media from year to year. The presidential election on 2009, most politica figures promote themselves by print and broadcast media. On 2014, most of them began to used Twitter for political campign. Now, some have political figures to choose Instagram as a medium to market their self-image.Joko Widodo also builds positive image with audiences by Instagram. This study looks of Joko Widodo's Instagram content and analyzed it with dramaturgy theory and impression management theory. Finally, the conclusion of this study will found Joko Widodo's strategy when he showed his positive images on Instagram. This research analyzed the contents of photos and videos on Instagram account @jokowi from the campaign began (October 1, 2018) until the presidential election was held (April 17, 2019). For the method, this research used qualitative approach with descriptive analysis.Joko Widodo use his Instagram to upload photos and videos about his success in building the infrastructure, maintaining stable prices in traditional markets, struggling for athlete's welfare, encouraging the village funds to develop the villages, commands the quick work for evacuation, etc. Each images and videos on his post earn thousands of likes and comments from followers and other Instagram account owners. Joko Widodo uses ingratiation strategies, self-promotion strategies, and exemplifications strategies when he creating impression management about himself on Instagram. Untuk mempromosikan citra diri, tokoh-tokoh politik mulai memperhatikan perkembangan media dari tahun ke tahun. Pada pemilihan presiden tahun 2009, sebagian besar tokoh politik memilih mempromosikan diri mereka dengan menggunakan media cetak maupun media elektronik. Kemudian, pada tahun 2014, mereka mulai beralih dengan menggunakan twitter. Kini, beberapa dari tokoh politik sudah mulai mempromosikan citra diri mereka melalui media Instagram.Joko Widodo juga turut membangun citra positif tentang dirinya melalui Instagram. Penelitian ini melihat isi dari Instagram milik Joko Widodo, lalu menganalisisnya dengan teori dramaturgi dan teori manajemen kesan. Penelitian ini akan menemukan strategi yang digunakan oleh Joko Widodo dalam membangun manajemen kesan tetnang dirinya di depan audiens. Adapun penelitian ini mengkaji foto dan video yang diposting oleh akun @jokowi sejak kampanye dimulai (1 Oktober 2018) hingga pemilihan presden berlangsung (17 April 2019). Untuk metodologi, penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan analisis deskriptif.Joko Widodo menggunakan Instagram untuk mengunggah foto dan video tentang keberhasilannya dalam membangun infrastruktur, mempertahankan harga yang stabil di pasar tradisional, berjuang untuk kesejahteraan atlet, mendorong desa-desa untuk berkembang dengan menggunakan dana desa, mengomando untuk cepat tanggap dalam bencana alam, dan hal positif lainnya. In der vorliegenden Arbeit wird die visuelle Präsentation von Politiker_innen in Printmedien empirisch untersucht. Der Fokus ist auf vergeschlechtlichte Formen der Darstellung und auf die Konstruktion von Geschlecht in der Politik gerichtet. Die Frage ist, ob Muster und Unterschiede zwischen den Geschlechtern in Motivwahl, Perspektive etc. sichtbar sowie stereotype Zuschreibungen hinsichtlich von Geschlechterrollen erkennbar sind. Im historisch männlich geprägten Bereich der Politik sind Frauen nach wie vor unterrepräsentiert, ebenso in der medialen Darstellung. Diese Arbeit untersucht das Wie der Darstellung von Politiker_innen, der Fokus liegt auf der Analyse von dargestellten Situationen der Interaktion. Die visuelle Repräsentation von Politiker_innen erfolgt zu einem großen Teil über Massenmedien ? die Produktion der Bilder ist bestimmt durch Konventionen der Darstellung und des Zusammenspiels zwischen den Bereichen Politik und Medien. Diese Aspekte werden in der vorliegenden Arbeit ebenfalls beleuchtet.Die qualitativ angelegte empirische Untersuchung von Pressefotos erfolgt nach der dokumentarischen Methode der Bildinterpretation nach Ralf Bohnsack, die auch formal-ästhetische und bildkompositorische Elemente einbezieht; hierfür wurde ein eigener Analyse-Leitfaden erarbeitet. Den Forschungsrahmen bildet die Methodologie der Grounded Theory, die vor allem das Vorgehen im Forschungsprozess und die fallübergreifende Analyse beeinflusst.Die Ergebnisse weisen auf Unterschiede in der Darstellung hin, die über die alltägliche geschlechtliche Performanz hinausgehen. Auch Medien sind performativ in der Erzeugung von Geschlecht, weil sie stereotypes Verhalten aufgreifen und in neuer Weise reproduzieren. So konnten einerseits Motive identifiziert werden, die eine stereotype geschlechtliche Performanz reproduzieren, andererseits ist auffällig, dass Politikerinnen in einzelnen Motivgruppen, die das politische Handeln widerspiegeln, unterrepräsentiert sind. ; This work investigates empirically the visual presentation of politicians in print media. Therefore, the focus lies on gendered forms of presentation and the way of how gender in politics becomes constructed. This work considers between gender patterns and differences in choice of motifs, perspective etc. and stereotypes in terms of gender roles. The occupational area of politics was historically minted through males and is still stronger occupied by them than by women. This aspect becomes numerically visible in females underrepresentation in politics and media. This work analyses in print media depicted situations of interaction and focuses on how female politicians are presented there. The visual representation of male and female politicians becomes predominantly realised through mass media. The production of pictures is determined by conventions of depiction and influenced by the interplay between politics and media. These aspects become also illuminated in this work. The qualitative empirical investigation of press photos is based on the documentary method of interpretation of pictures by Ralf Bohnsack. A special guideline for analysis was developed in order to consider formal aesthetic and compositional elements of each picture. The methodological framework is based on Grounded Theory that influenced the procedure of this research process and the aspect of cross case analysis. Results have shown differences that exceed every day?s gender performance. Media are performative in terms of the production of gender. They take on stereotype behaviour and reproduce it in a new form. On the one hand, motifs that reproduce a stereotype gender performance became identified. Going public now entails presidential targeting of their party base, interest groups, and localities. Cohen focuses on localities and offers a theory of presidential news management that is tested using several new data sets, including the first large-scale content analysis of local newspaper coverage of the president. Although the post-broadcast age presents hurdles to presidential leadership, Going Local demonstrates the effectiveness of targeted presidential appeals and provides us with a refined understanding of the nature of presidential leadership

Abstract
Approval of the Supreme Court recently hit its lowest point in decades. Calls for reforming the Court have gained traction as a result. In this study, we look at how media framing can influence public support for two specific reforms: Court packing and term limits. In a survey experiment, we provide respondents with either a pro-, anti-, or mixed-valence framed message about one of these two reforms. We find support for the proposition that media messages have the power to decrease support for reform but not to increase support for reform. Additionally, we theorize that highlighting the conflict surrounding the Court activates ideological considerations individuals hold toward the Court. In support of this theory, we find that discussing either Court packing or term limits decreases specific support of the high Court among Democrats and increases specific support among Republicans across all conditions.

Do campaigns message to voters consistently across different media? And do competing candidates tend to converge over time on a single national style of campaign messaging? To address these questions, this article employs novel data from a content analysis of campaign spots and candidate tweets from the 2015 and 2019 presidential elections in Argentina. We find that the policy orientation of candidate messaging is similar across different media, with spots and tweets addressing specific issues in similar proportions. We also find that, consistent with the theory of success contagion, campaign messaging across candidates and election cycles varies along a wide range of variables as candidates have failed to converge on a similar campaigning style. Contrary to expectations drawn from prior research, we find that candidate tweets contain policy content and attacks on opponents just as often as do campaign spots.
